This is one case where working with (for) the undead would be absolutely for a paladin or cleric of Pharasma. She is absolute in that regard, and this was confirmed by the devs on another topic. Undead, all undead, regardless of their alignment are ananthema to her faith. This would be similar to a follower of Sarenrae slitting a prisoners throat without even trying to redeem them. It is jsut against the heart of the faith, and should be an instant fall from grace, regardless of what the author wants it to play like. It is not a grey or grey choice, but rather a grey or impossible (I will lose my powers) choice.

That being said, it is just a game, and there are ways around this. I just think it is a great fail on the writers part, and I've seen this very topic come up more than a few times.

Interesting because the sidebar in the adventure DOES deal with this exact problem, and deals with Pharasma devotees. The entire AP is written almost with the assumption that the divine classes are of Pharasma, so the sidebar designed to allow working with undead should apply in every case.

The important thing to remember is that Paladins are Lawful Good, not Lawful Stupid. Any character class that is designed as pure black and white ultimately fails to be playable. Paladins are NOT Lawful Stupid, and this scenario should not present any problems for play.

I can see a player requesting, or even a GM requiring, an Atonement when it is all said and done, but not a loss of powers unless the Paladin rejoices in aiding the undead. As long as there is angst on the part of the PC there should be no serious punishment.
Beckett wrote:I can't agree with you in this case.
