You can trip and disarm as attacks of opportunity, because both those manoeuvres specify that you my use them in place of any melee attack. The text of sunder says that it must be used as part of an attack action (which is a standard action which consists of a single attack), so technically you could not use sunder as an attack of opportunity. It is possible that the phrasing "as part of an attack action" may be a misprint as some people have asserted, but I am not sure.

Have to argue. Vital strike provides the same damage potential as your full iterative attack (@ the level you qualify for it) using your highest attack bonus. It isn't as flexible as your full-round iterative attack sequence, granted, but it has the potential to increase your DPR against a heavily armored (quick, tough, whatever -- high AC) opponent.
Is it the perfect feat for all seasons? No, it does have a limited application.
But useless? I disagree.

If you don't have strength bonuses, specialization, weapon training or a magical weapon, sure. If you have that, however, vital strike provides far less damage than your iterative attack.
