In Cheliax, we know only Glory.

"The Number of the Beast" Iron Maiden
"Welcome to Hell" Venom

OK, only sort of kidding. How about something more classical? From Berlioz's Requiem, I think.

Berlioz also wrote something called The Damnation of Faust, which seems appropriate as well.

Just skip to O Fortuna with Mars, Bringer of War as backup if you need it.

Props on Juno Reactor.

Pantomime by Orgy

I Think I'm Paranoid by Garbage

Black Dog by Led Zeppelin

B Maschine by Laibach

Save Yourself by Stabbing Westward

and...

When You're Evil by Voltaire
... of course.

Cheliax is the height of culture (no really, go ahead, tell them they're not!)

So, I say Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata.

Fully agree with my fellow Chelaxian and good friend AM HELLKNIGHT! Glory is Cheliax, and Cheliax is Glory!

(Poster Neo2151's attitude is commendable, for we truly are the pinnacle of perfection on Golarion, also in culture. That is a fact.)

I could have sworn you said it was this

Um, hello? Cheliax = Opera.

Liberty's Edge

Oh, and don't forget the best one that comes to mind...

O Fortuna for Cheliax.

And then Apotheosis' O Fortuna when you finally get to face the Queen and her bound Pit Fiend as your ultra-BBEG.

Well it's Hell's capitol on Golarion, so you need the worst possible music of all time, so I vote for dubstep

Check out the soundtrack for the movie Priest, for the movie Pathfinder (both featuring Karl Urban) and almost anything by Nox Arcana.

Starfinder Superscriber

Seconded on Priest, but I of course will be throwing in more Italian classical music. As for some reason Westcrown really hits me as being Italy.

Shadow Lodge

Electric Wizard, Reverend Bizarre and Cathedral of course. We are talking about an opressive Gothic dystopia with satanic overtones afterall. :D You can play "House on the Borderland", "Dunwich" or "Cirith Ungol" and "By this Axe I Rule", if you think the music doesn't feel fantastic or Golariony enough. :P

Danse Macabre by Saint-Saens.

:)

Juno Reactor + Matrix = Navras.

Although I'll also recommend Maksim Mrvica's take on Liszt's Totentanz. But that may be too Ustalav.

Karel Gott's version of Paint It Black IS Ustalav.

Methinks Cradle of Filth would be acceptable to some of the more... boisterous citizens.

Dies Irae from Mozart's Requiem Mass. Link

Sounds opera like all about the wrath of God (Asmodeus in this case). I like the Neville Mariner one so Iinked it.

Shadow Lodge

This has a mechanical, errie backbeat which is disturbing and....devilish.

Anything that's Nazi-ish. Cheliax and Nazi Germany are so simular I refuse to play the faction in PFS, in spite of cool faction missions because I feel dirty in doing so.

As much as I like this one, I think that Cradle of Filth would fit better in Nidal.

What about "Sympathy for the Devil"? (grins)

For Galt, it is of course some radical protest song propagating violent revolution or maybe even pure randalism.
Though of course the national antheme changes every few months and the componists loses his head... (by the way, the Marsseileise was a marching song for renegard miltary joining the revolution).

Mmm... Nidal- Mike Oldfield "Shadow on the Wall"?

Wouldn't the worst music belong to the Worldwound?

Cultists of Rovagug: "It's The End Of The World As We Know It And I Feel Fine"!

Silver Crusade

I'm going to have to echo the dubstep choice as your first option. Once everyone's done giggling at the joke, then...

...it seems like you'd want something slow with deep, foreboding tones to it. Cheliax isn't death metal, it's a slower, more methodical, sinister thing. Several people have already made great suggestions along those lines, so I'll refrain from specific song listing.

Silver Crusade

How about night on bald mountain? or the Imperial march?

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber; Pathfinder Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Touch of Evil by Judas Priest would be very appropriate, especially for their PFS faction leader.

For some reason, I feel like this song would be playing in a Chelaxian nightclub full of Tieflings. Not sure why though.

Springtime for House Thrune

Cheliax was having trouble
What a sad, sad story
Needed a new leader to restore
Its former glory

Where oh where was she?
Where could she be?
We looked around and then we found
The house for you and me and now it's

Springtime for House Thrune and Cheliax
Egorian is happy and gay
We're marching to a hellish pace
Look out, here comes the master race

Springtime for House Thrune and Cheliax
Winter for Andoran too
Springtime for House Thrune and Cheliax
Come on, hellknights, go into your dance

que dancing Hellknights

I was born in Kintargo
And that is why they call me Vargo

Don't be stupid, do be greedy
Come and make a hellish treaty

Springtime for House Thrune and Cheliax
Asmodeus step's the new step today
Fires burning dissidents to the skies again
Cheliax is on the rise again

Springtime for House Thrune and Cheliax
Halflings are sailing once more

Springtime for House Thrune and Cheliax
Means that soon we'll be going
We've got to be going
You know we'll be going to war

Excellent and yet so obvious!

Also this Heroic theme mixed with some Chelish parts. Main Chelish theme kicks in at 4:57

also this warning: Some old but RL war footage/imagery

As I ascend the bloodied steps and take my place on a golden throne before the coruscating energy of the Black Altar, there shall be but one song heard.

It's a Sin!

I prefer this song.

Pretty much anything involving a harpsichord*

Trumpets and brass are a bit too...angel-y for my evil tastes :-)

Crazy imperial death march music and heavy metal might work for Hellknights and those uncouth demons. But we're talking byzantine complexity high society evil here.

I dunno. For how often I have to portray the chelaxian faction head (from the module, mind you) I would think Closer by Nine Inch Nails.

Liberty's Edge

I'm pretty sure Porky's theme would be perfect for Cheliax, given how it is both sinister and grand. It's certainly at least the perfect theme for walking around in a giant spider-mech-o'-doom.

Definitely this March Into Hell

Liberty's Edge

This is what prisoners of Cheliax are forced to listen to...in its entirety.

When my players sailed into Coretyn I played Elizabeth's War Theme from Civilization. To me it's always screamed of Cheliax; a massive naval power with a long tradition of nationalism, perhaps a little too confident in its own power, but which nevertheless demands respect.

I also plan to play it when we run afoul of Cheliax in our ongoing Skull & Shackles game.

EDIT: I also dug up the text of "Of Life In Cheliax," a protest song I had my Chelaxian player character get subjected to by a halfling bard.

Its citizens would have you know,
It crowns the Inner Sea,
From temp'rate coast to high plateau
Richer than you or me,

Its ships race across the oceans,
Its sons explore the earth,
And if you respect such notions,
You must admit its worth!

If you intend to find a place,
they say, to come relax,
Seek the land of Infernal grace!
Come visit Cheliax!

Coretyn's a scenic city,
Though the view is fleeting,
Once a smart Hellknight committee
Fixes for your beating,

Its vistas daily are defined,
As truly breathtaking,
And that will surely be on mind,
As your ribs are breaking,

But you'll not suffer for your wrong,
From such brutal attacks,
Execution they'll not prolong,
Justice in Cheliax!

Come on down to friendly Westcrown,
The township on the coast,
She wears her rivers like a gown,
And makes a comfy host,

Though our lady may be aged,
And woo'd by Hell's own priests
With her's a threat to those engaged:
Her nethers' shadowbeasts!

And as your screams play out the night,
They close on you in packs,
You'd best put up a damn good fight,
Cuisine of Cheliax!

Ostenso's grand this time of year,
City of the Navy,
Though the ambiance of the pier,
Is a little slavey,

Quite anywhere you'll find your alms,
From nobles to the bums,
Though keep grease for a dozen palms,
If you're to leave the slums!

On your purse they will loose the clasp,
To fill their gilded sacks,
The snakes do business with the Asp,
Commerce in Cheliax!

Next on the tour is Brastlewark,
And even with King crowned,
A city run on gnomish lark's
A city run aground,

Nothing against the child race,
I merely wish to say,
Their politics they oft misplace,
Replaced by child's play!

Yes, gnomes, I'm sure that you'll adapt,
To life on Chelish tracts,
Gnome Kings will bow when they're kneecapped,
In Loyal Cheliax!

Egorian, bedecked in rose,
She rules her sisters well,
As much as can be ruled; she chose
To buy her crown from Hell!

The dance of nobles spin about,
Orbiting 'round the Queen,
Though if one lacks infernal clout,
To Hell he'll oft careen!

Sit down, stand up, wear the right clothes,
Most of all, pay the tax!
If you must know where money goes,
It goes to Cheliax!

The elves of Kyonin brandish bows,
And Highhelm has its axe,
Both do less harm than honeyed prose,
In scheming Cheliax!

This doesn't sound like paradise?
Dig out your ears the wax!
You'll barely feel paying the price,
Of life in Cheliax!

Liberty's Edge

Well, while we're on the topic of theme music for the various Golarion countries, I must say that while I don't know what specific song it should be, I know that the theme song for The Worldwound should be something by Nickelback. Because that's the most unholy thing I can think of.

Also, for Andoran, there is no question that its theme song should be this, or at least an adaptation thereof. Because, really, is there anything more fitting?

Dark Archive

Well, maybe not for Cheliax, but for Nidal, I might suggest this , as I find R'hllor from The Song of Ice&Fire very similar to Zon-Kuthon.

And you must not forget opera, classical music, as it dates to pre-thrune era. After Thrune family is in charge in Cheliax, there tends to be a love of devil, and diabolism in the operas. As I'm not similar with the opera & classical music, I cannot help you there.

PS: Just for fun, wanted to post Sepultura + Pavarotti version of Roots Bloody Roots , as it is dark as the soul of Cheliax, and it includes the one of the best tenors in the world.

Liberty's Edge

How about this; It's an aria from Idomeneo by Mozart. The full title translates to "I can feel you all in my heart, furies of the dark hell." The performer here really sells it. :)

Tutte nel cor vi sento furie del cupo averno

When I was running 'Council of Thieves', I used a lot of operatic music.
Specific tracks were 'Una Furtiva Lagrima', 'Toreador Song', and "Au fond du temple saint". There's lots of Venice in Westcrown, so the Italian opera flavor worked really well, especially with Pavorotti singing. The soundtrack for "Kingdom of Heaven" also lent to the same feel.
If I were to run it again, I would make heavy use the soundtracks from the "Assassin's Creed 2" trilogy. They have that perfect operatic feel couple with underlying tension.

Necroing because this seems super appropriate, too.

Cheliax is greatest country in the world,
all other countries run by little girls.
Cheliax number one exporter of halflingslaves,
all other countries inferior haflingslaves.
