Did anyone see this yet? I have the trailer burned in my skull and the score is pretty decent. What I really liked was the three film clips in one I found with some searching.

I haven't seen the Raid yet, but I did see the director's first film (with the same lead actor, Iko Uwais), Merantau.
A lil background on Merantau - the director, Gareth Evans, was in Indonesia filming a documentary on Silat at a school there. While he was filming, he got the idea for the movie and worked with some friends in the business to get funding and crew and basically used the students from the school as the actors, primarily Iko.
Merantau has a lot of similarities to Ong Bak. There are some pretty incredible stunts and fighting, but it was written by a Western director so the story makes a lil more sense to Western audiences than some Asian films do.
If you want a hint of what you might expect in The Raid, go rent Merantau (available on Netflix and on Amazon on Demand).
Oh, and I don't know if the Raid will get much theatrical play here. The studio that got stateside distribution rights is planning on doing an English-language remake, so there is less incentive for them to show the original in theaters.
This will be released in March of this year on DVD.
Okay... the release of the DVD won't be until Fall of 2012. The good thing, is that the movie is actually in theaters right now and it's probably going to be on my list of "MUST OWN AND GIVE AS GIFTS" dvd's later this year.
I hope those of you that love a great action flick don't pass it up. It's as good as Hard Boiled.
