New feat tree, new race or both?

Advice

I'm trying to come up with a new race/concept.
In my camaign one of the main characters, a summoner, has an eidolon based on a woman from his village that he had a crush on and seems intent on a relationship with this being.
As weird as it seems to partner up with a pet/summon, I think it could be interesting down the road.

My question for the advice is this:
If I want to make an amount of evolution points available to characters in some way (as a result of lineage in this case)would it be more balanced to make this as a race, or perhaps a feat tree that has access to evolution points?
I don't want it to be too powerful, but at the same time, I'd like it to be interesting and somewhat cutomizable.

Ideas?

That's deep

Isnt there already a Feat: Extra Evolution. Also since evolution points can be spent as the Summoner wishes they are already customizable. I may be missing something but not really following what your asking for.

he's asking for half-human half-eidolon offspring that would be born with evolution points as a racial trait, instead of say, the bonus feat.

And since the feat extra evolution gives one point, I'd say its probably an ok houserule to give your abortion of science race 1 evolution point instead of the human bonus feat, keep all else as human.

(note, this will get you every PC human with pounce. Some things, like pounce, you should remove as an option)

No worry, remember that Pounce evolution requires quadruped base form.

I think that there is both a potential for a race, racial trait or feat tree.

Maybe replace human bonus feat with Evolved alternate racial trait granting 1 evolution point and ability to get more by picking Extra Evolution feat.

don't think pounce is possible. I believe it's a quadruped-only evolution.

Yeah, Weables has pretty much the idea i'm looking for.I'm not too worried about pounce because it is in fact quadruped only. I'm just wondering what kind of upper limit on points should be set to not make this new "race" uber.

If there are any devs who have an opinion about this, i'm curious to see how you would handle it, or if not at all.
