Post-Apocalyptic Setting: A Request To All 3PP

Product Discussion

if anybody else is interested in this type of a product, please make it known in this thread! thanks.

so there was supposed to be a post apoc setting coming out from i think adamant entertainment, but the link has been taken off a lot of the sites and theres no info on whether this book is even still getting written.

is there any other 3pp thats planning on doing a post apoc setting? im very interested in this type of product, but i really only get into settings if i have a book detailing the world. the book is something that i think a lot of people need to at least get a better mental grab on the areas in which they travel in game, as well as where their characters come from.

if you arent planning on making this, would you be at all interested in this if enough people showed interest? or for companies like super genius games who put out small pdfs, you could do like 3 to 5 small pdfs on certain post apoc themes.

im very interested in a post apoc setting and anything new and fresh that is coming out or maybe might come out would be great to know about. thanks in advance.

Frog God Games

Post-Apocalypse fantasy or Post-Apocalypse science fiction?

I personally feel that can simply fall under fantasy or science fiction.

I have a setting I've been developing that's PA Fantasy/Horror. It all depends on what brought about the apocalypse and how far after the apocalypse things are. Is it still in the survival stages? Are they in the major rebuilding stages? Is what caused the apocalypse in the first place still around?

Tons of factors.

Well LPJ Design has already done a series of Post-Apocalyptic Survival horror product and setting called Obsidian Twilight. Here is the write up on the setting:

A dark star fell from the sky bringing with it the end of all things! The sanctity of the world known as Abaddon was shattered when a global apocalyptic event of a meteor impacting the planet causing a destructive ecological and eldritch change. Now there is no day or night, just never ending twilight. An undead world ruled by fear and horror. Undead nightmares prowl the darkest forest with malevolent ghouls, grim demonic fiends and horrific vampires prey on a fearful populace. The world is dominated by the monstrously powerful immortal vampiric lich lord known as Calix Sabinus reigns supreme over this world. And with all this the mysterious force known as Nightwall. Evil dominates the world to be challenged by noble heroes fighting to take back a world that should belong to them. Are you willing to take up the fight?

You can see the full list of those product right here at RPGNow.com. Best of all we have a lot of product in that line that are free so you can check them out before investing a lot of money in it. Hope this helps.

Jon Brazer Enterprises

JBE is working on Shadowsfall which is more or less a post apoc style setting. It's not technically post apoc because there never was a civilization that was destroyed. But on the Plane of Shadows, undead are as common as humans are in Golarion and the humans and fetchlings and umbral kobolds and so on are trying to survive against zombie hordes and other monsters that wander the wastes looking for food. The way they survive and the quality of that survival varies greatly depending onwhere you live. Because it is the plane of shadows, it's apart of every campaign setting and easily usable for a short adventure or for a full campaign, as the gm determines.

Our books will be printed and available in game stores. We're starting out with the monster book (Book of Beasts: Monsters of the Shadow Plane) first with other following shortly.

Scarab Sages

The creator means, I believe, a pathfidner version of Gamma World esq game. Adamant entertainment was making warlords of the apocalypse or something.

There is several threads on conversions by players but they all lack that feel of Gamma World or Aftermath that Gamma World has. There is also several varients that use the d20 modern engine which, personally, I cant stand that version of the d20 system. If Darwin's world was ever pathfinderized Id really be a happy camper and Id guarntee at least 25 to 35 people would be picking up their products with a zeal.

I would be VERY interested in a sci-fi oriented Post Apocalypse game using the Pathfinder rules :)

I currently have a homebrew that's more of a science-fantasy: the post-apoc version of a modern-era world that uses the standard Pathfinder classes, albeit with assault rifles and Kevlar in addition to swords and full plate, but it's still a long ways off from anything publishable. I've run a few quick skirmish-style playtests and fleshed out quite a bit, but haven't had the chance to test a full-out campaign.

I'd would absolutely be interested in something akin to the Fallout Universe, with things like Ghouls and Super Mutants. That would be AWESOME......

Frog God Games

2 people marked this as a favorite.

I would love to see a Gamma World done well, myself.

I might be hard to please, though, as I don't think that there has been a good edition of Gamma World since the first edition. (Just an opinion! :) )

Silver Crusade

This is something we've thought about doing a Sneak Attack Press, through it's probably a ways off if it were to ever happen. If it did it would most likely either be a "Fallout" of "Thunder the Barbarian" style post apocalypse.

I agree Chuck ... a PFized GW would be an awesome thing :)

This is what I would want from a post apocalyptic game...

id like a more fallout style of post apoc, like what adamant was planning on doing. id still like to know if they are even still working on it at all.

I have an M&M-based post-apocalyptic game with seraphim and creatures of darkness coming out in the next few months (based on the Faith Hunter novel series): Rogue Mage. Does that count?

http://www.faithhunter.net/wp/rogue-mage-rpg/

The PH will have world-setting info, plus there are 3 novels out there that can add further detail. The PH and GM's guide are written. We'll be kickstarting the project soon to get them through art and layout.

Zombie Sky Press

One of the possible followups to It Came from the Stars in the series is post-apocalypse. Done in the way of course: player options, GM options, and adventures.

I'd be very interested in a Pathfinderized version of Gamma World!!!!

+1 to Pathfinderized Gamma World. And yes, as Chuck Wright said, 1E Gamma World rocked most.

Thundarr the Barbarian-style would be similar. Fallout-style - ok. Actually I'd be happy to see any post-Apoc treatment, horror, supers, sci-fi, Mad Max/ Road Warrior (Car Wars even made a "Chassis and Crossbow" variant) or even a (listening Paizo?) fantasy Golarion treatment- Athas always kinda almost made the niche there.

Dark Archive

I have discovered the best post apoc theme ever!!!! You can read it here.

Liberty's Edge

I'd definitely be interested in a pathfinder post apocalyptic world.

You might want to take a look at this thread from a year or so ago.
RUINS & WASTELANDS: AFTER THE CATACLYSM P20 RPG
It is pretty much a Gamma World 4e conversion. That is the 4e version of Gamma World, NOT the D&D 4e board game.

Actually it would be considered GW 7

1st & 2nd used the weapon class chart, 3rd (my favorite) used the ACT resolution system, 4th was a class based version (laid out some pre-d20 groundwork), 5th was the Alternity GW (more pre-d20 system work) and then there was the S&S d20 Modern based GW game -the 6th edition.

I am not including the Amazing Engine -Starship Warden book, nor the Polyhedron "Omega World" by Tweet (which was very good) versions of GW.

And then we have the edition that Wotc released last year (based off of the 4e engine) - That would be the 7th ed.

So what Michael converted last year was a very strong mix of d20 modern/future and based off of the PFRPG rules. And would have been a "7th ed", if it was an official release in the timeline - since he beat out Wotc release by a half a year.

Liberty's Edge

I'm pretty tied up on my current project (which will have some playtest teaser type stuff put out Monday). I'm working Steampunk for PFRPG. It takes place in a post-apocalyptic world of sorts, but probably not what you're looking for.
