Quick Bestiary 3 questions

Silver Crusade

Mines still shipping, trying to wait, but have to ask:

Are there any ugly, monstrous-looking, darkness-themed, or alien-in-appearance celestials debuting here?

Any barbarian/savage-flavored Azatas?

Any good aligned creatures or races that represent the Dark Is Not Evil trope?

Any new aquatic races a bit more alien than merfolk, but not tied to Lovecraft by flavor(just adding that last bit since it's felt like everything in the water lately has been Innsmouthy in theme)

Any new player-appropriate races that look more fantastic or alien in appearance than the usual Core-likes and the new "animal"-folk races, like the "ShadowRace" pic from the recent blog preview?

Not looking for details or spoilers, just wondering if any of that is present.

Silver Crusade

bumpin' just once

I'd like to know the answer to a lot of these too.

Also are there any dinosaurs?

IIRC, there should be four new dinos! :)

If I remember reading the boards correctly that is

Shae, the shadowrace shown in the preview, is a race of beings from the Plane of Shadow. They are Neutral, and CR 4.

Hmm...Alot of your questions are being answered in the product discussion thread...

But the ones that I haven't seen yet I can try and answer

Sadly no new Azatas this time

There is a new aberration, Azruverda horrible looking scarab thing thats CG. The Foo Creatures are might bit intimidating looking as well.

Aquatics, there are a ton of new aquatics one that looks like a lion fish aboleth called a Grodair.

new player okay races: catfolk, ratfolk, suli, vanara, vishkanya. first two are beastfolk, suli are genieblooded vanara are monkey men...i think, and vishkanya are...odd, look human, but have a few snake like tell tales.

and also yes four new dinos (dimetredon, iguanadon, spinosaurus, and Pachycephalosaurus)

No azatas.

No player races are aquatic in this book.

All player character races are humanoid. Rat, monkey, cat, a poisoner, and janni/humans.

Silver Crusade

Thanks!

It's a start at least. :)

Just didn't want to derail the product discussion thead. Last time I mentioned this stuff in a blog thread it turned into a badwrongfun tangent, so I just wanted to keep this separate so if it did go sour it would just sink and not be an eyesore in the product's thread forever.

Really want to see the Azruverda and the Vishkanya now. I hope the latter lean more towards Psionics Unleashed's Ophidians more in appearance than regular humans, and the name has me hopeful there's some naga tie-in going on, which could make for some really cool features if they borrow from that nagas that have shown up already in Pathfinder. If they are naga-related, of course.

Can't wait to see the flavor for the Azruverda. Really glad to have more good aberrations in the game.

Azruverda fluff:
Although repulsive in shape, these enormous, human-
faced insectoid creatures are generally peaceful and
serene. Left to its own devices, an azruverda is typically
content to cultivate fungal gardens in deep underground
sanctuaries. These gardens are beautiful to behold—
masterful combinations of fungi, rocks, and other objects
arranged in an artistic manner. Although generally
solitary, azruverdas collaborate when a threat intrudes
upon one of their underground homes.
Azruverdas stand 16 feet tall on their many legs and
weigh close to 4,000 pounds.

Viskhanya are very, very finely scaled, and it looks like smooth skin from over 3 or so feet away. Forked tongue. Bodily fluids are poisonous.

Unfortunately, the vishkanya look identical to a human if they keep their mouth and eyes closed, unless you are close enough to see the tiny scales that cover their bodies.

For direct naga/snake-people PCs (who have legs), there are the nagaji in the Dragon Empires Gazeteer.

Silver Crusade

Definitely looking forward to seeing the Nagaji then. :)

Want the Azruverda that much more now. Already imagining some mashup societies between them and svirfneblin...

Nope, only familiars and animal companions.

A ton. Giant undead sea things with a watery body (the image of it is it towering over a large junk), huge whale / lobsters, chesire cat / wolf / orca things.

Are we still expecting to see this book in the game stores on the 28th of this month?

What about giant versions of starfish, sea urchins, nautilus, sea anemone, etc.?

What about the Levathian or fish/turtle so big it is mistaken for an island?

More monstrous-but-not-evil critters for Mikaze:

The shinigami are reapers, but they're LN. It's specifically mentioned in their flavor-text that they turn to goodness as often as they do towards evil.

The thriae are human from the waist up, bee from the waist down. Also LN, but peaceable and willing to relate to humanoids. They're seers and prophetesses that produce psychotropic honey.

Yes to sea anemone.

Unfortunately, no.

Unfortunately, no.

Leviathan's sort of there, as one of the behemoths. But aimed a bit more at the coast and surface than the deeps.

Unfortunate nothin'! You want them to look human. That way the enemy magistrate never suspects when you send your vishkanya courtesan-assassin into her bed chamber. ;)

Read all about it here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visha_Kanya

Or in in the anime Ninja Scroll. ;)

Awesome. 'Course, this is why, in my Vudra, there's going to be some serious intrigue goin' on. And a civil war coming. Darned Vishakanya.

I think you'll dig this Mikaze. I wanted to make sure there was another non-evil aberration out there to keep flumphs company, so they kind of create these ornate fungus and crystal sanctuaries deep underground. Part of their inspiration comes from here...

...though I can't say it came through especially strong in the end. So now you've got these weird bug giants with mysterious goals, ancient knowledge, and totally unsettling appearances.

Oh, and they look like they're shiny, like those little dogbane beetles. :)

One of my favorite pieces of art in the whole book is of a sea creature, the Sea Bonze.

The monster you're looking for is the Aspidochelone from Pathfinder #27. We didn't pick him up for a Bestiary, though, as a lot of the rules for having an adventure on the back of a monster are handwaved. It's a fine site and it's a cool monster, but we want the monsters in our Bestiaries to be a little tighter rules wise.

Thanks BIG TIME for advocatin' good aberrations!

Probably going to chitin up the face when I use 'em. I love that we have a good creature tied with vermin now too. :)

Just getting into the Thriae, probably need to take the time to read the book front to back instead of jumping back and forth.

Really wonder how shinigami relate to Pharasma, especially considering what one of their abilities is.

Titans decided they're no worse than the gods and will create sentient life in their image. Didn't quite work. Enter demodands.

Is the Suli simply a re-print from Qadira, Gateway to the East or does it include more information/different information?
