Witch Hex Cards

Recently, I’ve been playing a witch for PFS and have come across a frequent problem: although I know what my hexes do, my GMs do not. So every game I have to pull out my book, flip to the page, let them read it, etc, whenever I use a hex. And inevitably, they want to check it again later, so the process must be repeated. I’m used to having to do such things for spells, or infrequently picked feats/used class abilities, but for hexes I wanted to be lazy.

Then last Sunday, while playing with my set of condition cards, I realized how useful it would be to have hex cards that I could hand to GMs or other players when they had questions.

The end result is something similar to spell cards (although more stylish IMO)
Evil Eye
Misfortune
Slumber

I downloaded Magic Set Editor, a lightweight program that lets you make custom Magic: the Gathering cards, and entered the hex name at the top, description at the bottom, and a picture that represented the ability.

I resized them to 3.5x2.5 inches when printing in CS5, and placed them into plastic sleeves with actual Magic cards behind them for stability. Now, next time I play, when I drop a hex on someone, I’ll hand the GM a card as well.

Dark Archive

Pretty slick.

Silver Crusade

At Gen Con I played with a cool guy who had created cards for his bardic performance. When he switched from one type of performance to another he would just flip the card to show the bonuses/penalties that applied for the new type of bardic performance. It was a very cool idea.

I'm not sure if Hexes are the same as Spells for a witch, but if they are, you may be interested in my template for spell cards, which are similar to what you've made; they work in MSE and they're bigger, to hold all the spell info... the thread I made for that is here.

really nice, the text is however quite small and the picture, beautiful and stylish as it is, uses a lot of space.
I would put it on spell cards that have the same format, but no picture.

Similar-ish, except hexes are spell-like abilities that can be used at will. And there's only a handful of them compared to spells. I may use your template for spells for my witch's spells though ;) Thanks!

The Exchange

Really old thread, but this is a fantastic idea! Thanks for the software tips. My GM will appreciate it when I start debuffing all his doods. ;P

Liberty's Edge

It could be a interesting product for Paizo too.

I made some pretty simple cards for my bard. Tent-style for performances or buffs and card-style for attack-type spells. All in Drive presentation. These could easily be adapted for Hexes, too.

I have access to a laser cutter/engraver so I put some wood in it and made little hex tokens to keep track of Evil Eye, Misfortune, Slumber and other hexes.

They were, of course, hexagons...

Grand Lodge

These are awesome. PRINTED!

I guess it's only bad when 4e does it?
