Count me in.

Silver Crusade 5/5

So far I count 7-8 players and 2 GMs... Thats counting Jim as a player, not GM... you dodge the bullet ;).... looks good... we could add up to 4 more not piping in and be fine. See you all Saturday :)

Sovereign Court

most likely 9-10 (my nephews) ... still doable with 2 GMs.

I'll prep a tier 1-2 ... not sure what yet though.

Liberty's Edge

I'll be there.

I'm prepping The Infernal Vault at subtiers 1-2 and 3-4, but not sure I'll have it ready for this weekend. Even if I have it ready, it sounds like I'd be in third or fourth position to GM. If I don't run it this time, I'd like to run it for sure on the 31st.

If I play, I've got an archer ranger 2, a melee fighter 1, and a witch 1 to choose from, depending on what's most needed. Only the witch would qualify to play in First Steps.

Luth, you seem to be taking the lead on coordinating things this time around. Do you wanna create the event and handle the reporting?

Silver Crusade 5/5

No idea how to do that. Just tried to get the ball rolling. Happy to let others run the show. :)

Sovereign Court

I'll set it up. One minute.

Sovereign Court

so who is running what? I'll run Murder on the Throaty Mermaid ...

Sovereign Court

Event is set up (APL-031712). Just let me know what folks are going to run ... alternate GMs as well please (and if you are wanting to be a first alternate, second alternate, etc). :)

Great scenario! I just wish I wasn't so tired when I played it... We tied people to chairs and feared them, blatantly threatened our only friends on the boat... good thing I can get credit for it again (tier 1-2) under the new rules, and It's never the same guy who done it...

Liberty's Edge

Upon reflection, I'm not gonna try to GM this time.

I'm really not sure I can be prepped in time for this weekend. I'd rather wait and run on the 31st than risk running a lousy session.

If we have too many players and too few GMs, I'll be the first player to bow out. I'm local and have been gaming since the stone ages. I'd rather folks who have a long drive and/or are new to gaming get a chance to play.

Silver Crusade

12th alternate - First Steps. I may actually get a chance to glance through it between now and then :)

They are relatively simple I have run them each with a single day to prep. I read them while at work and ran that evening ;)

I have all the maps and can send them with Stu to assist in running... Unless by 12th you mean next month then I could probably just get them to you in person at one of the meetings between now and then. :)

Howdy! My name is Dave and I'm moving back in the area soonish and I was hoping to try out Pathfinder when I do. I've only played D&D 2.0, 3.5,modern, and Hackmaster so far. How would I get involved with this group?

Hey Dave welcome! You have just completed the first step to getting involved, contact. Congratulations! ;)

We welcome players new and old, our Lodge meets every other Saturday at a local gaming store, the next meeting will be this Sat link here then two Saturdays after that... The GMs get there about an hour early to help new players create characters and answer any questions, we would love to see you at one of our meetings soon :)

Check this thread every so often, we post all of our info and you can start to get to know the group... Now to run off to work, wish I could write more...

Again welcome!

Went to Game Night at Firestorm Cafe, and met up with the two soon-to-be owners of the Wyvern's Tale. Seem like really good guys, and they expressed a lot of interest in catering to RPG enthusiasts generally, and specifically to hosting as a regular thing the Asheville PFS. Keep your fingers crossed as they try to close on their location- it's a great spot in West Asheville.

Welcome! I echo exactly what Jake said! If you don't have a 1st level Pathfinder character you're more than welcome to play a pre-gen. I know from experience the Pre-gen cleric is one tough lady. After that session, you can apply the credit from that game to a new character.

If you don't have any of the Pathfinder books, you can read up on a lot of info in the Pathfinder Resource Document Also if you've got the time, check out the Guide to Organized Play.

PFS is an absolute blast, and we've got a great lodge going in Asheville. Glad to have you along for the adventure!

I'll chime in here with my own welcome and glad to have you :) Some of the guys have already provided some great info and links. I highly recommend the Guide to Organized Play. I was a little confused when I first started looking into Pathfinder, and it explained a lot.

You see, there are really two flavors of Pathfinder games. Pathfinder, which is the open-ended game where people use published adventures/story arcs (or their own home-brew) in a home-based campaign with a small group of dedicated players who are needed at every session to continue the ongoing multi-session storyline.

And then there's Pathfinder Society (also commonly referred to as PFS and Organized Play). This is what we play in our every-other-Saturday sessions. The scenarios used in PFS are all pre-published specifically for PFS. They are 4 hour scenarios that stand alone, starting and finishing in that 4 hours. There is an established world they are all set in, with some rather complex societal dynamics, but each scenario can be played whenever by whoever with no need for keeping to any particular order. This allows players to come to sessions as they wish without having to feel obligated to come to any given session. It is common to play with different players, different party compositions and different GMs from session to session. It also makes it possible to play PFS at Cons (I recently went to a Con in Chattanooga and played PFS all weekend with people I'd never met before...had a great time).

If you have any questions about any of all this, just post away right here and we'll bury you with helpful info!

Again, welcome!

Welcome welcome. The more the merrier. :)

If you have played 3.5, Pathfinder will not be a major stretch for you; there are changes in the system, but it will all look very similar.

And everyone else has pretty much covered all the bases re: links to relevant documents and such.

Have a safe move back up the mountain. :)

Sovereign Court

Hey guys, bad news. Talked to Dudley today and he's not going to be able to make it this Saturday.

As of now, though, Abigail and I should be there.

Silver Crusade 5/5

Ok so the balance has shifted to one gm and a dozen or so players. Need someone to step up and gm....

Dark Archive 2/5

I will most likely be there tomorrow

Silver Crusade 5/5

So stu does that mean you will be gming? If so what? Tell me if i need to scenario shop folks. I'll only have tonight to prepare.

Liberty's Edge

Luth, any reason you don't wanna run the same scenario you ran at the last session? I assume you'd need a lot less prep time.

As for GMing, here's where I'm at. I never stopped prepping The Infernal Vault. I'll run it tomorrow as a last resort, but if anyone else can run anything, they probably should. Here's why:

- I'm only about 85% prepped to run it.

- The switch to DST has cost me a lot of sleep this week.

- I've only had time to finish my notes for subtier 1-2. So subtiers 3-4 and 6-7 wouldn't be an option.

I'd be a tired, under-prepared GM, so expect mediocrity. If I'm the last resort, I'll run. But I think it's only fair to give prospective players a choice of whether whether they want to play a so-so game.

Silver Crusade 5/5

I'll run the Dalsine Affair again if I get another Exp credit for my character sure. Good idea.

Liberty's Edge

I'm pretty sure you only get credit the first time you GM any given scenario.

Silver Crusade 5/5

Arg no dice then. On the verge of level 2 and not going to lag behind yet again. Guess from the silence no one else is stepping up. I'll prep something new. This will not be a habit i hope.

Silver Crusade 5/5

Ok... Season 0: The Hydra's Fang Incident... Muhahahha... be afraid, very afraid

Silver Crusade

I'll GM.

I've been thinking about a scenario that makes sense and it seems to me 2.01 Before the Dawn Part 1 The Bloodcove Disguise fits the bill.

Liberty's Edge

Man, I'm impressed with you guys who can prep in so little time. Me, I have to cram like a college student studying for a final exam.

Though, at the risk of sounding a bit sith .... some lessons are best learned the hard way. As a group we've relied too long on too few people for GMing. If Zylphryx had been the only GM tomorrow, then I bet by the next meeting we'd have had a lots of folks clamoring to GM.

I only ever intend to be a part time GM. Every other session is the most often I'm willing to GM, but every third session is my ideal. If I could've gotten ready for this week, I'd have made a one-time exception

Oh and Eaghen, with that title, if I'm at your table, I will be humming Crosby, Stills, and Nash all evening.

Silver Crusade 5/5

Season 0: The Hydra's Fang Incident converted to PFS rules from D&D :) ready to rock, but I'll play in Jim's group unless we need a 3rd GM....

By the way, Hydra's Fang sounds fun and almost as deadly as the last one I ran, players beware... Muhahaha Thar be Piiiirates

Dark Archive 2/5

you can get credit as far as what i heard for any tier 1-2 more than once now and no i was not planing on gm if we really need it tomorrow i will run that is of course if i can make it, most likely i will be there.

Liberty's Edge

My understanding is that the rule about replaying Tier 1-2s for credit applies only to modules, not scenarios. With scenarios it's only Tier 1s that allow credit for replay.

Where I'm getting that is from two pieces of text in the Guide to Pathfinder Society Organized Play version 4.1. Emphasis is mine.

Guide pg 16, under the Replaying Scenarios header:
You cannot receive more than 1 player Chronicle and 1
GM Chronicle for the same scenario, regardless of how
many times you GM or play the scenario. You are free to
replay a scenario in order to meet the minimum legal
table size (see Chapter 7), but once you have reached
that limit, you do not earn any additional rewards
beyond having a good time.

I'm reading that to mean that the base rule is that you only get 1 player credit and 1 GM credit per scenario. Modules haven't been mentioned yet, and replay is only allowed to make a minimum legal table.

Further down the same page, an exception is introduced:
There is one exception to these rules: All Tier 1
scenarios and Tier 1–2 sanctioned modules are available
for unlimited replay with a 1st-level character for credit.
The sanctioned modules can also be played with a 2nd-level
character once for credit. You may continue to
replay the sanctioned modules with 1st-level characters
after playing through them with a 2nd-level character.
GMs can receive another Chronicle sheet each time they
run one of the Tier 1 scenarios or Tier 1–2 sanctioned
modules. No character can ever have two of the same
Chronicle—the Chronicle must be applied to a different
character each time.

Which I take to say that the exception is that Tier 1 scenarios and Tier 1-2 modules allow replay for credit and multiple GM credits, with certain limitations.

Liberty's Edge

Hey guys. Thanks for the fun game yesterday!

Nick, if you want to work with me to get a WCU chapter of the society set up, feel free to e-mail me (abcorey2@catamount.wcu.edu)

Also, whoever was handing out those mini-flyers for that Mace convention-thing that happens later this month, could you link the Website? I forgot to grab one of those little cards before I left, and I may be interested in going.
Also... Goon now has a gun. That is all

Sovereign Court

MACE West

That is all. ;)

Liberty's Edge

Question: A Gunslinger gets a firearm for free at first level... if you multi-class into gunslinger, are you still assumed to have made your first firearm for free (from among the 3 choices, obviously)?

The Exchange 2/5

Correct.

Yes you take the lvl as if it were "lvl:1Gunslunger" (other then full HD that is) in all respects to the class abilitys.

Liberty's Edge

Nice. So, With the gunsmithing feat, a gunsmith can then upgrade his starter weapon for 300g to a masterwork, which I plan to do. Now, to upgrade from THERE to a +1, how much would that cost?

Sovereign Court

Scarab Sages 1/5

A gnome alchemist with a firearm?! I'm sure this will end well. We've got a gnome alchemist in APL-south that has done more damage to our Paladin then the baddies have! One can only hope you choose blunderbuss, for maximum friendly fire.

Silver Crusade 5/5

Ok.... next weekend..... lets start talking

Liberty's Edge

I've come down with another cold, so I don't expect to be there on the 31st.

Liberty's Edge

Halfling, thank you!
And, I will have you know, I have gone out of my way to make sure I do not hit you folks with my bombs since lvl 1!
That being said...

I am currently sick as a dog with the flu (or something far worse). Assuming that I'm not likely to disease everyone, I will try to be there. I am teetering on the precipice of GMing and I need some advice. I bought a PDF copy of the Godsmouth Heresy. It's a sanctioned module, meaning that it was originally designed as a non-society adventure but it's been accepted by PFS. I went online and downloaded the chronicle sheets, but I cannot find faction missions for it. So are the faction missions downloadable somewhere else, or are there simply NO faction missions and no players will get prestige from running this?

Also, how many among you have run this module before and will we have enough tier 1 players to make a table with it?

Scarab Sages 1/5

Any of you guys interested in GMing/playing at GeekOut 2012? Details are still sketchy, but I've got the warhorn site registered. It sounds like gaming will go on at least on saturday, if not friday and saturday. Just wanted to gauge the APL interest.

Silver Crusade 5/5

I'm there if i'm off work. Get me dates and i'll let ya know

3xp and 4pp :)

there are no faction missions the rewards are simply reaped at the end of the module :)

I haven't played it yet and (I'm sure about it this time...) you can replay this one as its a tier 1-2 Module.

I definitively want to play!

Count me in too Nick... hope you recover soon buddy.
