Multi classing in PFO

One of the (few) things I thought was neat from Rift was the ability to multiclass.
As this is based off of pathfinder, I think theres an assumption there that you will be able to do so.
Mechanicly in an MMO I don't believe this is easy from a "balance" standpoint, and adds a whole other level of complexity to the balance equation.
So I figured I'd ask, if you have classes, are ya'll looking at having multiclassing be an option? If you go skill based, will this just be a natural side-effect, that you could end up a fighter/mage/thief if you just work all the necessary skills?

What's the plan?

As stated in the F.A.Q, the game will use a skill system over a class system. Rather than dealing with the multiclass problem of balancing a Level 10/10 Fight/Wizard to a level 20 Fighter or level 20 Wizard, in a skill based system you build your own class so to speak.

Think Skyrim, Eve Online or Ultima Online. If you're not familiar then give one of them a google to see how they work. Each of the three stated vary on how they function with the only similarity of not using levels; the debate is very much open in regards to which the system will most follow, if any.

Ah, ok I hadn't realized the skill based deal was set in stone.
That pretty much solves it then.

I am playing Oblivion at the moment, and have worked up stealth, marksman, and security. So far the game has been easy mode.
Is there, then, going to be an issue with raising certain skills = win?
Where everyone has the same handful of skills?

I don't know that this would be a bad thing, or a natural side effect of being a unique snowflake, just like everyone else.

I've played skyrim but found its system shallow.

Lack of spells(even less than previous installments), npcs won't use certain spells against you, no "spell save/resistance," useless skill tree (such as speech that makes every vendor has 1000 more gold) that also make little senses, all builds end up the same (only difference is the magicka / stamina / health), etc,.

Got bored with it in 2 days, while I played Toee (with co8) for months.

Skyrim system is extremly shallow and broken. Some skills are overpowered, other are just useless. But there are other "skill" systems which can actually work. Moreover, you can come up with way different design of SS, which is actually similiar to levels, choosing specializations and other stuff with progress of your skill. It all depends on how Goblinworks are going to handle it.
