Can someone using detect magic or similar divination spells detect the auras of magic items carried by a target of mind blank? In other words, does mind blank protect your attended gear? I want to make my arcane focus look non-magical to others via magic aura, but it might not be necessary if my mind blank spell prevents someone from picking up its aura in the first place.

I should think so. It is an 8th level spell after all.

I agree with the Tiny-bearer-of-lovely-smelling-but-foul-tasting-brew. As 8th level spell it should cover the target's equipment. It can be guessed from example included in the spell description: arcane eye won't be able to see the target - if equipment wasn't affected the eye would see floating equipment and thus would be able to notice the subject's location despite not being able to see him directly.

I haven't reread the "Magic" chapter in the CRB recently, but it's my understanding that any spell cast on a creature includes any objects it's carrying as the default. This is the default assumption that allows invisibility and the polymorph spells, among others, to work as they do. So - yes, somebody with mind blank on cannot be located simply by specifying, "I scan for Captain Sever's belt buckle."

Your items are affected by the same spells you are. Thats why you don't have to be naked to be invisible.
