Summon Monster / Summon Nature's Ally expanded tables?

Rules Questions

Quick question - have these spells had new creatures added to their respective tables with the release of the Bestiary 2? I checked the PRD but didn't see any notes indicating they have, but as I am considering a summoner for an upcoming game, I figured I'd toss the question out there in case I'm looking in the wrong place.

Only the Entropic and Resolute templates were added.

Bummer. That's a lot of new creatures that get no love =\

Thanks, Cheapy.

Though if those tables are expanded later, I wouldn't mind it if your Dragon Style Vivisectionist Beastmorph Feral Mutagen Alchemist found its way onto the list.

Yech!

Paizo has mentioned that they don't plan on adding to the lists.

One thing they do do is present "customized summon lists" for worshipers of Golarion deities.

So, a priest of desna (priest is left vague, it does not mean just clerics) can summon Lyraken for example.

If you check the relevant text in the Gamemastering chapter in Ultimate Magic or it may be the Gamemaster's Guide. The guiding philosophy is that new books aren't going to expand the summoning lists by default.

Instead it's suggested that GM's who wish to allow the addition of new monsters select existing ones to delete to make room. This also applies to the idea of creating custom lists for individual casters, so we're probably not likely to see official updated lists from Paizo or for PFS.

Dark Archive

Apart from the Entropic / Resolute option, the new Elemental types in Bestiary 2 also add a little more versatility, as both SM and SNA have 'elemental (any)' on their list.

Oh yea, forgot about the Elementals.

There are also summoning spells in Ultimate Magic that allow summoning creatures not on the existing summoning lists. Note, however, that these are separate spells, not changes to the lists.

Oh yeah, I forgot that James Jacobs mentioned that this is sort of the new paradigm.

Here's one place where he commented on the issue.
