Who wasn't your own, I mean.
After reading some of the Worst Players/DMs and Most Epic Character threads, I kinda wanted to get a feel for the characters you've encountered played by others that you just had to doff your cap to in respect/admiration.
Who made it really run, and how?
Recently played a couple of PFS scenarios alongside a 3rd-level wizard who was constantly pretending to be casting more spells than he was - i.e., "See? That guy missed you because of that magic spell I cast earlier! You probably didn't notice." Similarly, he would act like he was mentally exhausted after a battle, "from all those spells I was casting to keep you guys alive". Fun times.
There was also a guy in PFS whose character was named "The Captain" and fought with a shield as his primary weapon. But I guess that concept's kind of well-known by now. But his is the only one I've ever encountered.
In one of the RotRL campaigns I am running, the only character that has been in the campaign from day 1 is a dwarf fighter. He has had several quirks that have become standards for the table:
1) if Blorn takes a 5' step back, someone's gonna die.
2) Blorn (as well as his kin ... other players have brought in two of his brothers and an uncle) have the amazing ability to hit something so hard it does not realize it is dead. They'll hit it, someone else will immediately follow up wioth the killing blow, but the Diamondtooth clan claims the kill due to this amazing ability. (Note: this came about well before the Order of the Cockatrice was created).
3) if it can be drunk, he will drink. Yes, he won the purse at the Hagfish. And later even ran back into the burning bar to save Nora (you don't abandon a drinking buddy).
