Mine's doing something weird. If I've made the last post in a thread (including a thread I created), it shows the "(X new)" by the thread, counting my post and some others before it as "new".

But once someone else posts in such a thread, suddenly there's no longer a "(X new)" notification (despite my not having seen the latest post yet).

Just started happening today, so I thought I'd give you all a heads-up.

I also noticed something weird happening, especially the "(X new)" not restting after I have visited a thread.

I also no longer see X new, even if I should.

Adding to the list of weird.
I was trying to post. I hit submit, but the preview came up. I hit submit several times but got the same result. I backed out, then went back in and it worked.

Yeah, this started happening to me last night. I'd read a thread, but it wouldn't go into my Focus results or give me an (x new) with new posts. Maybe has something to do with the server hiccup last weekend?

EDIT: Also, when I read a new thread that's been started while I'm in the messageboards, the (x new) doesn't go away.

For me, old threads that have new posts are working, but new threads that started up today (maybe a little furthur back, not sure) are not behaving properly.

There's some weirdness now in the (x new) code but I'm not sure when we'll get a chance to revisit it. I'd like it to take advantage of some recent rewrites but it's not a ten-minutes-when-I-get-a-chance type of thing.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

I've rewritten the "x new" code a little. It might help. Probably won't make it worse. Probably.

Yikes! (X new) just went nuts! Here's my sidebar:

Except for the dotted threads, I haven't read any of these, but they're acting like I have -- and a long time ago to judge by how many "new" there are.

I'm getting exactly the same problem!

Something something something something....

All of the X new tabs for me Redirect to the thread concerning kicking a PC when he's down and bleeding.

Whoa! Now I've got some threads showing hundreds new (but not all posts in them), others not showing any new when they should, and some are accurate.

They've all change to the Hypothetical New Paizo Products thread.

Aha! The ones where it's showing not-quite-every post as new are actually showing every post beyond my first post in that thread as new.

So like if there's a 300-post thread where I made the fourth post, it's showing up as 296 new.

Yeah, clicking on the (x new) from my Campaigns tab to try to get my PbPs back in order took me to a different thread entirely. I had to click on "Gameplay" to get to the correct thread and get it to reset.

Also, the (x new) isn't showing up with new posts in this thread for me.

Have fun, Gary! ;)

Sovereign Court

Weird, mine are all going to the multiple sneak attacks thread.

Edit: and now it's fixed for the messageboard threads, but not the online campaigns.

Whoa, yeah, my X New link for this thread took me to something about what fighters are like...

I'm not getting an (x new) on this thread at all; just a dot. :)

EDIT: Aaaand I went to my Campaigns tab earlier to reset all of them so I can tell when there are new posts, got them all (x new)-less, and now when I go back, they're reverted to (818 new), (1367 new), etc. :(

It's not fixed for me for the messageboard threads.

Ah, you're right, it was only a brief reprieve, now the problem is back and sending me to the overheard at the Paizo offices thread.

Scarab Sages

The last 1/2 hour, there seem to be random numbers (always smaller then total post count, though) shown as new, and when I click on the number, I get to any random threat...not unlike the problems mentioned before, but not quite the same.

The Exchange

Hooray! It's Fixed!

Paizo Employee Senior Software Developer

This should be fixed now.

Yep, the craziness is fixed. Hooray!

However, I'm still getting a problem that's persisted for several days now in which most threads I click on for the first time are not giving me any x-new indicators. The only x-new I get are from threads I first looked at more than three or four days ago (with only one or two exceptions).

Good as new, thanks Gary!

+1. Thanks, Gary!

Also +1. It's been at least since the weekend that reading a new thread has actually added it to my "Focus" list.

Paizo Employee Senior Software Developer

Yeah that's a separate problem that we're looking into. Ironically enough, this thread is one of those threads for me.

Me, too. Although the (1 new) for your post just showed up for me. *shrug*

Paizo Employee Senior Software Developer

Cool, that means we may have fixed that problem, too, because I've been waiting all day for someone to post in this thread so I could see the "(1 new)" show up. And it did.

Scarab Sages

All Hail the PMG (AKA Thank you, Gary;) )

Yep, newly clicked threads seem to be working now. Thanks, Gary!
