Has anybody looked into running Feast of Ravenmoor as a side adventure? My players just hit level 3, so they're appropriately leveled, the caravan will be passing within hailing distance and with the "renowned vineyards" there, I can see Sandru wanting to stop in to get a cargo unit or two of wine. It'd be just a bit of a change in the setup, the PCs happen into Ravenmoor rather than being sent. It's nearly the perfect setup.
However, I don't own it yet and before I lay down $10 for the PDF I'd like to see if anybody else has considered it and what their opinions are. :)

Myself, I have trouble ensuring everyone stays on board until the end of the AP as it is (largely due to real life stuff) so I'm trying to limit side encounters as it is!
Also, my group always has this in-the-back-of-their-heads metagame thing going on where they like to feel as though they're making progress through the AP itself. It's likely due to the real world time contstaints of how often we get to play. That and we like to play different games and different systems, so something like an AP that has an endpoint fits well with us.
I imagine if you had a long term, stable group, thats used to playing drawn out campaigns, home-brewed or otherwise, this would be much different. In that case, I think running Feasts would be a cool side trip (I'd really like to run/play it someday). My only concern would having to modify the rest of the AP to make it challenging as I imagine the PCs will gain levels throughout Feasts. That, and Ameiko might get a touch impatient.

We pretty much set the adventure in Ravenmoor and at 3rd level EXACTLY so folks could do this, actually. It makes a great in-between adventure betwixt the first two adventures.

Cool. I got it and have skimmed it; looks good. Sadly it'll depend on if they go back to Sandpoint or not after Brinewall as I don't think I'll be able to absorb it enough to do it justice in time for the trip up. If they don't, I'll save it for an off night. They've got some alts that'll work perfect for it too.

Won't you have to re-juggle things after they complete the module and are above the APs experience track?
Myself, I've never had a party actually finish an AP (largely due to complicated real lives) so too much divergence from the AP is only going to make that less likely....but it sounds awesome! (and I'd love to run/play Feasts)

They're already above where they should be anyways as we continued with earlier characters so what's a bit more? :) They've finished the swamp part and are at level 3. Plus we're running with only 3 players; unless they convince one of the NPCs to come along the lack of a fourth will help to balance thing.
Soooo, if need be I'll adjust the encounters in Brinewall to match. Some of the monsters are gimped in one way or another.
And I can easily add to the primary inhabitants.
And "guests"
And if they run it between modules 1 and 2 ... well, there's never enough vikings and ninjas. :) (Although I really think they'll want to press on rather than do a 1000-mile round trip jaunt back to Sandpoint meaning I'll have to wait and run it with their alts if they skip it on the way to Brinewall ... or I can't get it prepared in time.)

I've decided to place Feast right between Brinewall Legacy and Night of Frozen Shadows. The Caravan decided to head back to Sandpoint to settle their affairs before heading to the far north. The party includes a cleric of Abadar, who is contacted by the government of Magnimar to investigate Elias' disappearance in Ravenmoor. Dense forest and the river prevent the caravan actually arriving in Ravenmoor, but the PCs and a few of the NPCs (possibly Koya, for her insight into Desna) bring a cargo unit to sell during the festival.
So far it's been working pretty well, and I think the diversion from "Destiny, Destiny, Destiny" is good for the PCs. The PCs just hit 5th level though, so I'm going to bump up some of the difficulty throughout.
Outside of a liberal application of the simple advance template, any suggestions?
