you can combine archtypes as long as they don't replace the same abilities right?
i'm statting out a 4th level villain for a home game. chose an elf alchemist. if i read the forums and rules right, they get to use their summon natures ally extract as a standard action like potions by pouring them out. and vivisectors replace the bomb ability with sneak attack damage, so he can then flank with summoned monsters.
Do rods work with extracts? if i gave him a rod of lesser extend spell metamagic, would that let the summoned monster last a potential of 8 rounds with caster level 4 ? or would he need extend spell metamagic feat?
for his 3rd level feat i chose sap adept, and since he's a big villain, i gave him 2 traits. Blade of Mercy ( he's a Good badguy. the PCs are largely villainous in the campaign... ), and kind of a pacifist. so he uses the Blade of Mercy ability to sneak attack for nonlethal damage with his longsword (alchemists don't get, but elves do), and dirty fighter. so that when he does get a flank, he can deal 1d8 +2d6 sneak +6 ( 2 from sap adept, 1 from dirty fighter, 1 from blade of mercy, +2 str mod from 14 str )
if the pc's don't end up fighting him soon though i might bump him up to 5th level and take sap master (1d8 +6d6 sneak +7 nonlethal when flanking). big jump in CR deadliness from sap master though i think.
Thoughts?
Alchemist (Vivisector/Preservationist) is a legit combo right?
Alchemist extracts are a standard action like the potion, right?
