I wish to run a Carrion Crown AP pbp game. I have recently lost my RL group to (umm..) RL, and wish to not lose the little gaming edge I currently have.

This will be a game for 4 players with one NPC added to fill a role and with nudging if players become stuck. I hope to bring a good game that everyone will enjoy.

Character Gene:

- Ability Scores: point buy using 20pts.
- Races: Any race from CORE + aasimar, tiefling, tengu, dhampir, and changeling
- Classes: Any from available sources.
- Skills and Feats: Any available from sources.
- Traits: Chose one trait from sources available and one from the player's guide.
- Hero Points: No, we will not be using these.
- Equipment: Maximum starting gold for class.
- Hit Points: Standard (Max at 1st lvl and roll for every level after that)

Personality: Motherly, kind, polite, slightly tomboyish, brave
Brief Backstory: Is a bastard child of Duke Titan Aurora, but he and his wife had no child, The child was better liked then the wife(Gold digger) and would inherit everything. When the wife was found plotting against the child she was kicked out, 3 years later the Aurora house fell (some say the wife sold her soul for revenge), with the child later working in a temple, until she was an adult.

Azure_Zero - both seem like the perfect fit for this type of environment. The only thing I can add is that I like the Guide archtype for ranger it's to bad that it doesn't stack with wild stalker.

And a witch hunter is defiantly a must for this is it not? Welcome everyone.

This is a good backstory to give a GM something to work with and add things as the character is played. Being an aasimar means your other mother was some sort of celestial humanoid that the character may have never known (even what type) and gives her a lot to learn as she searches or doesn't and it just pops up now and then.

Pharasma's religion plays a part in the AP so even if you are not a cleric of her perhaps the temple she grew up in was.

Hmmm... another mother "out there somewhere" which is good for a little extra RP. Maybe the Professor in the first module found the changeling babe and gave it to the forester to raise. I like the character having a slight temper she could be mad when she discovered her birth mother was a hag.

Up to you I like them both and they will fit into the AP nicely. The only thing I see to question is - Which is more the likely to fit into a group?


I guess we'll let the current players pick. so the character does fit into the group.

Thanks for the great read I'm sorry I missed getting into that game.

I will be checking in daily, but don't wish to rush anyone. If everyone has checked in (and posted at least a I'm still here) than I will post up something to help the game along.

I would say that a post from players at least every three days would be best. That way I am helping the thread along twice a week at minimum.

This is the Dorf. All the information about the character is in the profile. Although he's an alchemist, he will obviously be more of a roguish type character, and I may take a level of rogue later on to get a boost in some key skills. I'm not interested in exploring the more weird aspects of the vivasectionist archetype, like making sentient animals, other than Benedict having a scholarly interest in it. He is neutral, but leaning towards good. He just has some moral flexibility when it comes to making hard decisions for what he considers right.

Background:

Jonas, called Grey due to the his premature silvery hair, is of Varisian descent and was part of a tribe of Varisian nomads that choose to live in the dark forests of Ustalav. He travelled along with his mother and the rest of the tribe throughout the region, becoming a decent bow hunter. His mother, an Harrower, raised him to not worship any god, but to count on his own strenghts and trust the natural forces.

While he was 14 and his tribe was settled near Lake Encarthan, a mysterious woman arrived at the camp site, and became part of the tribe. She was charming and beautyful, and many fell in love with her, Jonas included. Some rivalry between the suitors struck, each one of them trying to seduce the lady with gifts and acts of courage. Fights ensued, families were ruined, people became poor or even died while the lady was showered in gold and attention. Then, a massive fight resulted in a feud that caused the whole camp to be set on fire. It was apparent by then that the lady was brainwashing people to do his own bidding, and was determined to destroy the whole camp and the people in it. Jonas was quick enough to realize it was time to flee, but his family wasn't so lucky. He watched his people kill each other and horribly die for the burnings, while suddenly the lady turned into an old and ugly hag. She laughed and opened a portal for a demon, who collected the souls of the now damned nomads. Jonas flew and swore to never let evil magic corrupt the hearts of the innocent anymore, and became an hunter of witches and warlocks.

He travels from town to town throughout Ustalav, looking for hidden witches and sorcerers, capturing and killing them. He likes to keep a low profile, wears plain clothes and goes undercover to investigate and gather informations before striking on his foe. He doesn't worship a god, rather being faithful to the nature forces his mother worshipes, but has learned some basic divine magic to defend himself against the dark arts. He is naturally suspicious and distrusts casters.

During a witch hunt, he faced an opponent tougher than usual. She attacked him with a magical poison that started to turn his right arm into a blackened stump. Severely injured, he somehow arrived to Professor Lorrimor's house. The old man was able to administer the right elixir in time, saving Jonas' life. Lorrimor also helped him tracking down the witch and kill her with the right spell. For this, Jonas was ever grateful towards the Professor, owing him a big favour. But Lorrimor never had the chance to ask for retribution, and now that he is dead, Jonas feels obliged to attend the funeral of his savior.

Well looks like there will be two groups after all. Remember Azure_Zero that there will be an NPC to fill any role the group might need.

I will be going over characters shortly and starting a second campaign thread. Right now you all as a group need to decide how you would like to split the characters up.


Well, group composition will likely need to wait for the other two players to post their classes. In the meantime, I will flesh out my own character a bit. He's a half-elf Paladin devoted to Sarenrae. He is unaware of who his father is, although his mother assures him that he was a pious man who won her heart through his conviction of faith. She was one of the elves who had faced down the Whispering Tyrant but she had remained in Ustalav in order to help put things to rights.

It seemed that he ha inherited his father's piety and as soon as his mother would let him, he headed for Absalom to train at the enormous cathedral dedicated to Sarenrae. After five years of long, hard training in both skills at arms and learning, he returned to the country of his birth to continue the fight against Tar-Baphon and his lackies.

Mechanically, he will focus on melee combat. Skillwise, his early strengths will be Diplomacy, Knowledge (religion) and Sense Motive with a +9 modifier in the latter due to Skill Focus in it. I may multiclass as the game progresses into Cleric but that is still up for debate.

Sorry but I don't wish to open the "customize" can of worms. But I will listen to any ideas you have for adding in aasimar alternate racial class features (to spend your favored class point on) for cleric as they have none listed in the APG.

I've never played in a pbp game before, but have been told about them and am interested in attempting one. If you've room for another player in Group 2, I would like to join if I may. Leaning towards a Witch, but I'm flexible when it comes to characters.

First create a character alias.

A character alias is like another ID on the forums for PBP games.

To create an alias;
1)right click on account at the top (so you don't loose this page),
2)sign in
3)in "Messageboard Aliases" click on "Create new messageboard alias"
4)put in the alias' name in alias name field
5)under avatar image, click change, select an avatar that matches the character concept as close as possible and click on it.
6)click on "submit changes" and the alias is created, but is blank.
7)in "Messageboard Aliases" you'll now see your new character alias, click on it and you'll be taken to the profile page,
8)click on create profile and fill it in will all the needed data, you can use Anna Bridgette above as a template, just click on her name.

Tar baphon was imprisoned in 3827 and we are in 4711 (yes that long ago ) Venerable age for elf is 350 . I aggree that it is a little strange that Ustalav is still stressed by something that happened 900 years ago but after all he is still a menace . I think we'll have the same skills ( diplomacy and knowledge religion) but I think I'll diversify and give you an help bonus

Background Info:
Eva was born a bastard child of Duke Titan Aurora, (an Ulfen blooded noble). His one time mistress (Luna). Titan was married to his wife, Heather and they had no children. When Eva around 4 years old her mother died and was adopted into the Aurora house, since she was of the Dukes blood and was better liked then Heather (a scheming b****). It was also decided at that time, that Eva would inherit everything, since Heather had not produced an heir. Heather did not take that well. Heather tried to produce an heir for 2 years, but to no aveal. When Heather was found plotting against the Eva when she was 6 years old. Heather was sentenced to death by the Duke, but Eva stopped it and had Heather exiled. Some 3 years later the Aurora house fell (some say Heather sold her soul for revenge on the house). Eva later was being looked after in a temple, whom were friends with the Aurora family and had an agreement with them. When she turned 14 she was told to find her position in the world from the head of the temple, as their obligation and agreement to the Aurora house had ended.
During her time at both Aurora house and the temple she was being trained one on one with a cleric, named Alkaid. Alkaid was known for her beauty and skill, but also in how she fought and defended herself. Alkaid taught Eva the Clerical arts, but also the basics of martial arts and how to keep the mind body and soul fit and beautiful.

Luna was a Cleric running a local orphanage, she was very popular with the locals and the children, Then one day she was invited to cure the Duke, since his physician was ill, and she was the only cleric nearby. The Florence Nightingale effect kicked in and an affair happened. A month after he was better their emotions cooled to what they were before. Luna gave birth to Eva 8 months later. A year and 3 months later the Duke dropped by the the orphanage to leave a donation. When he saw Luna caring for a baby of about 2 years, asked a few questions in a non-rude manor about the baby and was shocked to learn is was his daughter, as she could not tell a lie. The Duke promised Luna if anything happened to her, he would take care of Eva and see to it, the orphanage get a great person to take over and watch the other children. The duke kept it quiet until Luna died 2 years later.

History:
Titan ruled over his bit of land with a thoughtful heart and was married to Heather, During the first 4 years heather was resistant to the idea of children. He fell ill one day and since his physician was ill, and he call the only cleric nearby. The Florence Nightingale effect kicked in and an affair happened. A year later he remembered the Cleric who cured him and embraced him, and wanted to thank her, but he had to leave to a meeting with some high officials that would take a week of his time. The next year though he made a trip to the orphanage to leave a donation and found out about Eva. He promised Luna if anything happened to her, he would take care of Eva and see to it, the orphanage get a great person to take over and watch the other children. And he kept quiet about it for 2 years. When Luna died he kept his promise, and spilled the beans to the house, Heather was not pleased with the news. Eva grew to be like a lot by everyone for her good nature and it was decide that on the Duke death, Eva would inherit everything. The Duke and heather were “busy” for 2 years, and with no child. When Titan found out that Heather was going to kill Eva and with proof, A court session was quickly held and Titan ordered her death, But Eva entered the court room and was able to get Heather exiled instead. The Duke sensed that Heather would try something and made an agreement with a friend in the Orlovsky household, that is he dies to watch over Eva until she is an adult. Heather married Titan using looks, words, and some magic. She was waiting for Titan to die with out an heir and then marry another Chilaxian to increase the influence of Chilax in Bevoy. She waited for a good day to give a deadly disease to Her husband and his physician, and be away for the following week or two. But fate had a different plan. When Eva entered the house and Titan explained the whole thing to Heather and the staff. Heather was shocked at the turn of events, but confident that things could still go her way. Eva over time gained the love of the staff and all those around her, Heather got more nervious about the plan, and was devastated when It was decided Eva would inherit everything. Then Heather changed the plan to producing her own heir, and worked at it for 2 years, after which she plotted to kill Eva. But was caught with proof of the plan, and was going to be sentenced to death, but Eva intervened and got Exiled. With hatred, shame and embarrassment in her heart, she plotted revenge. She went so far as to make an agreement with a devil for her revenge. Her agreement in the contract though unexpectedly spared Eva and Alkaid from death. As she said destroy and kill everything on the grounds of the Manor.

Alkaid was dropped off on at a temple of Cayden Cailean. The head priest noticed the demon blood and used an old forgotten ritual, that purifies the souls of evil outsiders. It worked and she was raised in the temple and got clerical training, but was picked on a bit. This lead to her being disciplined by a Clerical Martial Artist, whom taught her the clerical arts and the martial arts. She travels helping people out, and one day was offered a chance to privately tutor a child in the Clerical arts, she took the job and taught Eva the basics along with a few other things. When the training was done she said her good byes and left to help others in the world.

Aassimar Paladin coming your way, I'll be making use of the Empyreal Knight ,Undead Scourge, and Warrior of the Holy Light archetypes


Here we have an undead scourge paladin of Shelyn with his trusty Glaive.

he's not completely done but we're getting there.

I really wanted to use the Empyreal Knight archetype given his Aassimar blood, but the benefits are redundant, and I'm counting on "divine grace" to shore up my dismal reflex save at 2nd level

rough background is looking like Rapheal was born to the traveling worshipers of the Glory of the Risen Rose(the entry in faiths of purity won me over) and has such grown up in the caravan. The birth of this divinely beautiful babe would have been celebrated and his celestial beauty made him a favorite among the caravan's faithful. Growing up in this environment made his faith in Shelyn devout, and led him to pick up on artistic as well as martial endeavors. His father defended the caravan and he was taught to do the same. While Professor Lorrimor traveled with the Risen Rose, the professor slid off a sheer cliff and would have fell many hundred feet to his death if Rapheal hadn't grabbed him in time. His beckoning to Ustalav is his first time away from the caravan, and he's young and inexperienced, but eager to spread Shelyn's works
