Huge Weapon Damage?

Rules Questions

I am going to start playing a game soon, Rise of the Runelords. I will be using a Barbarian, with the Titan Mauler archetype (From Ultimate Combat). I am going for a Shoanti, so I am using the Hide Shirt and Earth-Breaker (both typical Shoanti weapons). However I can't seem to work out the increase in damage from Large to Huge.

The Earth-Breaker does 2D6 damage at Medium size, 3D6 damage at Large size, so am I right in thinking that it would deal 4D6 at Huge?

I am not really going for this arch-type for the extra weapon size and damage, but it is a nice benifit.

I hope you guys and gals can help me out.
Thanks

Yes, 4d6 as a huge weapon. The rule of thumb with weapon damage increasing with size is it doubles with every 2 size increases. (eg. 1d8 medium -> 2d8 huge)

1d2 -> 1d3 -> 1d4 -> 1d6 -> 1d8 -> 2d6 -> 3d6 -> 4d6 -> 6d6 -> 8d6

This is the best comprehensive source I've seen.

Damage dice increase as follows: 1d2, 1d3, 1d4, 1d6, 1d8, 2d6, 3d6, 4d6, 6d6, 8d6, 12d6.

A weapon or attack that deals 1d10 points of damage increases as follows: 1d10, 2d8, 3d8, 4d8, 6d8, 8d8, 12d8.

Wow, that's great. Thanks for quoting this.

Tiny and Large Weapons
Improved Natural Attacks
Damage dice increase as follows: 1d2, 1d3, 1d4, 1d6, 1d8, 2d6, 3d6, 4d6, 6d6, 8d6, 12d6.
1d10 points of damage increases as follows: 1d10, 2d8, 3d8, 4d8, 6d8, 8d8, 12d8.

(So 1d8 goes to 2d6 goes to 4d6, not 3d8 - for x9ss)
Got to love ninjas

Titan Mauler can't wield a huge weapon of this type, you cannot even wield a large version of this weapon. You may wield an appropriately sized earth breaker in one hand.

It negates the penalties. Nothing in the Archetype gives you the ability to ignore wielding-based-on-size ability. An earth breaker is a two-handed weapon. A large earth-breaker would push it off the scale, a huge even more so.

The Earth-Breaker is a 2 handed weapon. At level 3 you are able to hold it in 1 hand with a -2 penalty on attack. Then at level 5 you are able to wield a weapon inappropriately size for you, but with extra penalties (which it reduces). I assumed it would be a little like holding a Bastard Sword in 1 hand and then getting a large one so you can use both hands to hold it. The when you increase in size (Enlarge Person) the weapon would increase again. Is that not right?

Thank-you for the help with the damage progression.

Unfortunately, the ability is poorly worded. This is probably how it is intended to work, but it is not RAW. The current accepted convention is that as soon as you go to a large version, it stops being "appropriately sized" and thus Jotungrip ceases to apply.

I am hoping it gets errata'd, but currently the best option available is EWP:Bastard Sword/Dwarven Waraxe +Large Version for 2d8 base, 3d8 while huge.

Oh, okay. Thank-you for your help Robb. I hope they do sort that out.

For my $0.02, it looks like you can only use a medium 2-handed weapon one handed with Jotungrip.

With Massive Weapons, you reduce the penalties for using a Huge light weapon two-handed, or a Large one-handed weapon two-handed.

But yeah, you couldn't dual wield two Huge light weapons using Jotungrip, for example.

You and I both, good sir. I really, really like the archetype, but it's signature ability seems to do nothing. It's no penalty to wield something you already can wield at a -2 penalty, which a fighter already says "yeah.. no problem" to ;/
