This show may not be nerdgasmic, but I like it. What's not to like? It's a soap opera with Harleys and plenty of violence.

Recently rewatched seasons 1 and 2 on Netflix, and loved it. Ssn 3 was a little cheesy (Ireland? Really?), but I like any show where someone gets brutally killed every episode. Low standards, I guess.

I'm not a Harley guy. I ride a street-legal one of these. I'm a dual-sport kinda guy, but Harleys are ok in their own way.

Just wondered who else watches it among my fellow Paizonians. Ssn 4 is coming up. Think I'll watch it!

I watch it, but I hate myself for it.

I have to agree. The psuedo-incest story line in the 3rd season really gave me the willies.

The mom, though, sheebus. I've been a fan of Peggy Segal's character since she broke Cherry's nose with a skateboard in the first season for... doing naughty things with her husband.

Shadow Lodge

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Lost Omens, Rulebook, Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Love the series. Need to catch up though. Fox had a contract dispute with Dish, and because of that we lost FX and the whole of third season.

It's that kinda stuff that makes it a little unbelieveable. All the girls in Ireland, Jax has to get the hots for his half-sister! And why couldn't they just tell him before it went that far?

Well, there's a lot of things you can question, but it's got Harleys and people dying left and right, so it gets a pass.

I've liked Katy since forever. Her character on SOA has been through the grinder, but she always comes back swinging. Got an Emmy, I believe.

Actually, I know a girl who found herself in just such a situation. Met a guy, went out on a lunch date. While they were talking, he mentioned that his biological father lived in a nearby suburb. "Mine, too!" she says (both were from divorced households). They decide to go visit "them." Long story short, same guy. This was in a city of well over a million people.

She was totally aghast, of course.

The Exchange

Just finishing re-watching S1&2, waiting for S3 to hit the shelves so I can watch it again before the new season starts in a few weeks.

I also ride 2009 Harley, not unlike the bikes Samcro favor. But with a detachable windshield instead of the slim fairing they use.

Just watched the opener last night, and wasn't disappointed. I love all the violence, and really enjoyed the surprise stabbing! Bikers with big knives should use them now and then, don't you think?

SOA is the second show I watch on TV all week (the first is Breaking Bad).

Loved the opener, especially that they brought in the priest from Deadwood to play a US Attorney. So many Deadwood guys on this production that it reminds me of the good ol' days.

I felt really bad for Unser (sp?) and am getting kinda tired of Jack's declarations about quitting the club, then wanting to take it over from Clay.

Not really digging what they've done with Opie's beard and hair this season. He's got a woman now, shouldn't he be looking a bit more put together?

Liberty's Edge

SoA is a Soap Opera for men. While it is a somewhat guilty pleasure, it is one of the very few "mainstream" shows I actually enjoy.

Looking forward to Season 4.

Incredibly violent, if unbelievable. Me like.

The Exchange

This has been a great season. They added a 14th episode so they could finish up the current storyline.

A lot I could say, but I'll wait for later.

The Exchange

And it's done. What an awesome freaking finale.

Not as action oriented as the others have been, but what a hell of a lot of story!

Spoiler:
I was so sure Clay would die, but I actually like the way this played out. Chibs will be a great Sergent at Arms for Jax and Happy looked, well very happy at the change.

I'm a little bummed about Opie, but I'm sure he'll be back at the table next season. Hopefully without knowing the full truth, but if that's what it takes, so be it.

9 freaking long months to season 5...
:-/

Grand Lodge

This show is awesome.. I was thumbing through the channels and just happened to stumble up on it.. 100 times better than the Kardashians. They give me the creeps....

I loves me some biker violence and purty wimmenz. Sure, it's a soap, and a rather unbelievable one, but it's still a lot of fun. Great season ender.

The Exchange

I really wish people would stop calling it a soap. Have you ever actually watched one of those? Cheesy, poorly filmed crap.

SOA is so much better written and filmed it's not even close.

There are soapy elements, but calling it a "soap for men" isn't fair. It's much better than that. I never saw a soap where guys on Harleys were shooting it out with gangbangers on the freeway. You just don't see that on "The Young and the Restless."

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I quit watching sometime during Season 4 or 5, precisely because it had devolved into an unmistakable soap opera. Just like "Downton Abbey."

And, lord, Jax' acting just gets worse and worse as the season progresses. Mrs Gersen walked in during one episode, glanced at the screen, and said, "What's Kurt Cobain whining about?" I held up one finger and said, "He's going to yell now." And so he did, right on cue. She about died laughing. That's really bad.

Amazing.. I accidentally necro'd a necro'd thread! Double necro! (though my necro wasn't as notable as Kirth's. ^^)
