From the clip, I'm not sure why you think it is based on the board game -- did you actually read that some where?

I think this movies will be a fun $1 dvd rental.

.

The movie based on Chutes and Ladders is a Horror movie about a group of teenagers who went on a hike and accidentally fell down a chute to the abyss and they are trying to climb back out.

It is standard movie fair, and includes a young military genius with misfit characters winning out against the odds ...

It is due out around Halloween time.

Coming out in 2014. . .

Don Cheadle and Leonardo DiCaprio getting chased down the Congo by african warlords and blood diamond merchants, only to face their greatest and scariest challenge yet, Hungry Hungry Hippos

WTF !!!

Liberty's Edge

I know why they added the aliens. To tie in with the new Battleship Galaxies starship mini board game that just came out.

In the trailer, notice how the alien missles stick into the ship like the pegs from the game?

They should totally make a movie about operation game. I mean whats more fun then a bunch of amateurs operating on some guy and pulling out his body parts?

Liberty's Edge

Well, they did recently release Battleship Galaxies: The Saturn Offensive, so this may (kinda) tie into that (kinda).
Or it could be the fact that alien invasion movies are all the rage right now (Transformers, Cowboys Vs Aliens, etc), and tacked that onto an adaptation where it really has no place.
You know, either one.
Magius out.

In all seriousness, Candyland just BEGS to be made into a children's movie.

Screw that. Make Candyland an action horror movie or something, like Jumanji meets Wizard of Oz meets Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure. Like some stoners are playing Candyland and get sucked into the candy forest and are like "sweet, candy" then are killed by some fudge monsters. Then we learn that the fudge monsters are trying to take over the candy kingdom, headed by Nicholas Cage as the grand Candy king or whatever, and they have to go fight fudge monsters to save the candy faerie to send them home. And have Tim Burton make it because he would be all over that.

You know you'd go see that.
But they will probably just make some other lame crap, like Rock'em Sock'em Robots. Oh wait...

Cartigan, if you find that funny, you might want to look into Run For Your Life, Candyman!

Sorry Cartigan, but its gotta be Jeremy Irons over Nick Cage.

Yeh but if Burton did it he'd have Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter in it..like he always does.

Bonham Carter would be the faerie/witch you have to rescue to send you back to the real world.

Actually I have to admit to a fondness for Helena..she does crazy so well. Im beginning to go off Mr Depp though mainly because he's in every second movie at the moment or so it seems

He's got his own personal island to maintain, that costs money.

I'd watch the hell out of this!

I think that we're perhaps getting a bit to cynical here. Is it dumb that they paid to licence the game battleship, yes. A movie about two naval fleets fighting when radar is down for whatever reason had absolutely no need to get a boardgame name attached to it, hell if anything I think the licence is actually going to make people less likely to see it.

But big deal, They decided to throw away money then write a script that doesn't even resemble the game.

The trailer makes me want to see the movie, I don't care what loosely inspired it, it looks like a good movie.

Liberty's Edge

I'm willing to go see this with an open mind. Look at how good other movies based on games were. Dungeons and Dragons, for example. *DUCKS*

Hasbro is actually co-producing the movie. The movie exists souly to sell more games, just like GI-JOE was made to sell more action figures.

They are also working on a movie based on Monopoly set for a 2014 release.

In the meantime, here is a fake trailer that someone produced.
