I'm incredibly late, but I'd still like to throw my hat in the ring. Yenrry is a archer-focused, halfling bard with plenty o' Charisma to be the face if needed.

Questions:

1. How did Gaedren Lamm ruin your life?
Gaedran is responsible for my being addicted to Shiver. Proper gerund usage counts for a lot in your games, right? :)

2. What do you think of the tension at the royal court between King Eodred II and the Royal Queen Ileosa?
It makes for some great stories and "skits" in my performances. As for my actual feelings? I believe that there is nothing extraordinary in the tension - they are, after all, married.

3. Do you think you could change Korvosa for the better? How?
Yes. By removing scum like Gaedran who prey upon the underprivileged and downtrodden. Beyond that, I currently have no great aspirations.

4. What will your character contribute to the group?
I will contribute adequate damage, group buffs and potentially clever solutions to problems that arise.

5. What are your plans for your character mechanically?
For now, I plan on pursuing the bard until the arcane archer becomes available. At that time, based on the party, I may move on to that. Also, depending upon the options available in UC, I might make some (approved) alterations.

6. What are your plans for your character from a story-perspective?
Ultimately, Yenrry wants to travel and entertain people with his stories and dramas. In the short term, I imagine if he is able to exact revenge on the one who derailed his life, he will simply find someone more powerful or deserving of retribution and his energy will be spent climbing the ladder of revenge.

7. Consider your character's heritage: could he (or she) possibly be of noble or royal blood, or is he (or she) a lowborn commoner?
Definitely a lowborn commoner.

Well, that was the longest "dotting for interest" post I've ever done. I'll be back to roleplay in a bit.

Let me know if you have any questions, Patcher.

Vyshael winces slightly at the painful reminder and turns to the newcomer, "Unless you care more about politics than power, you're better off hoping that they do not. The Acadamae, at least."

"Not sure I care about politics or power, to tell the truth. Although, a little of both could come in handy I'm sure. But the Acadamae always seemed a bit fancy, anyway... I could probably go for a more... practical approach."

Quote:

Vyshael nods. "Well, from the rumours, she cares naught for the people, and they're happy to reciprocate. Besides which, there are more than a few who believe that the old man was taken in by her, shall we say, charms?"

Jel chuckles at this statement, "But one can hardly blame him for that... unless you're suggesting she actually bewitched him in some manner? Surely he was protected from something like that!"

Hey Patcher, I'm sorry but I really don't have the time to be keeping up with this game with my other games. I'm withdrawing. Good luck to all!

Dreaming Warforged's Application. Q&A in the profile. Milena is really an inquisitor, but the crunch fits the fluff better by starting as a monk. I have the Bene Gesserit Sisterhood of Dune in mind for that one.

Even the bard stopped playing. The ground is shaking, and in the silence you can hear the yells of a large crowd, some condemning the Royal Queen Ileosa, some proclaiming that King Eodred II has died. Insults and profanity paint the air. The drink feels stale and there's a telling feeling that tonight, blood will be shed. The barkeep has already barred the door - a wise choice, by the sound of the streets...

Slipping in as the barkeep bars the door, a tall woman of athletic stature moves in with sure footing. Her dark robe flows around her as she moves through the room. She pulls back the hood of her cloak to reveal a small chiseled face and dark green piercing eyes. A tentative smile crawls up on her face as she notices the familiar face of the pharasman priest and nods. Whew! Barely made it... I should have seen this coming and moved faster.

She sits at a table, uncluttered by armour or weaponry, and orders a cup of Varisian tea. Her manners impeccable and laced with purpose, she proceeds to brew the warm drink, letting the wafts of warm moisture refresh her face and bring to her lips a taste of home and childhood.

She listens intently at the discussion, keeping her face from frowning. I came to this part of town to learn about Lamm, and here I am embroiled in endless conversations on royalty. Hardly a change from my general thoughts at the Gray!

She looks at Vyshael: "Now now, let's not underestimate the wisdom of our beloved King! He is a man at that, yes! But still, the Queen is a woman! The mystical powers that tie them is of the same origin as the one that tie us to our loved one. We cannot base on gossip alone our evaluation of the desires that stirred King Eodred, lest we accept the same for us." She smiles at the man. "It is our duty to serve our King and her Queen, and in so doing, bring out the wisdom in their hearts. It is the covenant."

That halfling looks defiant enough... Perhaps he's with the Cerulean. He can't kill me here can he? I shall not fear...

Milena Teg stands up and moves as if floating to sit near Gethric Orthed: "You have quite the tongue Master. Allow me to buy you a drink and ask for your thoughts: I am looking for an individual that has proven to be quite elusive. Perhaps you might know his whereabouts? I am willing to pay for good information. He goes by the name of Lamm... Rings a bell?"

I'm away next week and I'm not certain whether I'll have access to the Internet, and how often.

Vyshael looks oddly at the newcomer and her interjection, and says with a somewhat dry tone, "From my experience, blind faith in anything, be it institution, a man, or god does not serve one well."Especially the gods..."I would far rather be ruled by those who already have wisdom in their hearts."

He then turns back to his conversation with his companions at the bar, but spins around in shock when he hears Lamm's name mentioned. Crows! It seems I am not the only one, then. He raises a hand to quiet the bar conversation for a moment and tries to focus on their conversation.

Yenrry has remained quiet since his performance was interrupted and the door was barred. He sat, silently examining the room, its patrons and the atmosphere. Satisfied that, at least for the moment, all was at peace inside the tavern, he stood back on the chair he was seated upon and said in a loud voice, "Ladies, gentlemen and the rest of you uncultured lot: I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for coming out to Leftover's this evening. I am sure you all are dying to hear the end of the tale of Garrick's stand against the necromancers. Alas, the current situation and recent news seem to exist in paradox to its joyous and humorous ending. Perhaps we shall continue it another time."

Bowing to little to no applause, he steps down from the chair and shuffles over to the bar. Clambering gracefully onto a barstool, he motions for the barkeep to bring him an ale. He then turns back towards the room, sipping his drink quietly and watching for any disturbance.

Clap

Clap
Clap
Clap...

Druant's applause drops into the deep silence gripping the bar. Even the sound of the riot outside seems to still.

Demitri chuckles to himself."A pretty woman with an ample bosom can be more dangerous than any necromancer for any man."

Allia Thren wrote:

I'm thinking about playing a witch, now I would love to have her as a dedicated healer and supporter, obviously taking the Healing patron for the restoration line and some other things. Picking up healing hex, fortune, and what other buffs there are. Some debuffs as well, but not main priority.

Probably even the Hedge Witch archetype, but I have to play that through to see if its really worth it.

However I have to admit I never played a witch like this, so I'm not sure how it will work out. Also I guess if you take a dedicated cleric/oracle healer in the group, that concept might not be that great anymore, so it does somewhat depend on the final composition of the group.

So, I wanted to ask, if that is going to be a dealbreaker right here, that you'd rather have a cleric or so, I understand that, but would apreciate if you told me right now, so I can maybe come up with another idea before I get invested to much in this.

Thanks

I apologise for my delay in replying. I personally play a witch who is the party's secondary healer (and certainly has enough spells and such to be the main healer too) and think they are excellent as a dedicated healer and supporter. The cleric or oracle, or even paladin, can probably be better at pure healing - but the witch as a support class is almost unrivaled, in my opinion, because of those hexes. I won't ask you to play something else. The Witch is one of my favourite classes.

Am compiling notes and working on questions - SO MANY APPLICATIONS. It's overwhelming.

And I love every second of it.

EDIT: Having checked out Ultimate Combat, I see nothing wrong with any of the archetypes. However, for this campaign I ask that you defer from the overly Eastern-oriented archetypes and most of the gun-oriented archetypes - though I may give exceptions if you have a good justification. I also will not allow the Gunslinger, Samurai or Ninja based on how I wish to run this campaign.

Dreaming Warforged's Second Application. This one was in anothe CotCT game that ended early and was pretty much ready to go. As I like both concept, I thought I would simply present the two. Let me know if you prefer I choose, though it will be hard!

Cressida was right! Turmoil is upon us... All because he can't keep it in his trousers!

A tall and slender half-elf in a flowing leather cape sits at a table with a glass of dwarven whisky. He stands and all can see the lethal slender falchion at his hip. His blonde hair kept in check by a ring of leather, his eyes scan the room as he answers to Vyshael: "Indeed! Isn't it fascinating how the lower instincts of the royalty translate in the very street of our dear Korvosa? Neither the unlawful larcenies of the Cerulean Society nor the lawful ones of our beloved Magistrate of Commerce, Master Garrick whose latest story we just heard, could stir the mob so! What does it say about us, really, that we spend endless time gossiping about who lies in whose bed?! Nah! I wish they would just come out and make it clear to us, so that peace would resume in the streets... That would be wisdom AND action."

He takes a swig and ask the barkeep for a refill as he sits slowly, hindered slightly by the odd angle of his leg.

Paizo Fan: I couldn't find a character sheet. Did I miss it, or?

Yenrry chuckles at the half-elf's impassioned speech. Raising his glass, he says loudly, "Hear, hear!" Djal had always been known to speak his mind freely. Yenrry respected him, but also worried for him - his outspoken fervor was bound to come back to haunt him.

He takes a swig and ask the barkeep for a refill as he sits slowly, hindered slightly by the odd angle of his leg.

"Just think if they did that we would loose so much of the free entertainment the nobility provide."

Galdran scans the crowd, looking for hidden weapons and motives. He knows his order isn't accepted by all, and now, with the increased numbers of people in the tavern talking politics, there's always a chance for a fight to break out.

Using the talk about beds and bosoms as distraction, Galdran calmly walks to the bard. He stands in the bar by his side, and speaks to him in a calm, low voice.

"Beer and politics seldom mix well, specially in a night such as this one. I'm sure you have a tale or two to entertain us, minstrel, I'd be grateful for that. Tell me the tale of a man called Graeden Lamm." Towards the end of the phrase he turns his eyes from the bar to stare directly into the eyes of the bard, watching and waiting for any expression.

"And do what? Read a book then..? Hummm... Might be worse, might be better... Which book are we talking about?"

Milena's senses all focused on the thief, reading any micro-sign on his voice, his mien, to detect possible falsehood or omission, she almost missed the ranger's comment. Our King? Dead? It can't be! What now if it is so? I should make sure. Pharasmans will know.

She turns a moment to look at the bolted door and remembers. Too slow again! There is no way out for now. Turning back her attention to the thief and the bard. For now, I can concentrate on my mark...

Durant shrugs. "Almost everybody dies. If it is true, well he was an old man and King is a dangerous job. I just wonder how the guard, the sables and the nail are going to take it. Civil war may be more entertainment than I am looking for."

He shakes himself out of his thoughts and peers into his goblet, depressingly empty. "This is not taking the chill from me, barkeep. No need to mull the next one."

Vyshael looks to Durant and nods, "Agreed - and the whispers about the Queen will likely not help a smooth transition. As such, it would be enough to drive me from the city, if my business here were not so... pressing."

Jel's eyes narrow at the mention of Lamm's name. With a sharp reduction in his cavalier manner, he walks purposefully over to the tall woman, Melina, and takes a seat, looking at her expectantly. "I must say I find your talk fascinating. Perhaps I can help you in your quest for information." His face attempts a cheerful expression but remains grim.

What does she know?

Demitri puts down his drink and looks at the amazonian woman asking about Gaedram."Why do you want to know about that demon, Lamm?" He asks suspiciously of her.

(OOC: Kalizkan here with Krajan Ghuul, Half-Orc Magus (variants under consideration--will be Bladebound and possibly a Hexcrafter). Rather different concept than I had initially, but it should be fun. Character sheet will be on the profile, but it's currently a WIP. Should be able to have the required bits at least (and hopefully a full version) by the end of the day.

Since I'm a bit late to the RP, I suppose that it's time for some carefully considered imagery, filled with delicate prose and subtle, almost elfen beauty. I’m jumping in with most of my character info in my head, but the seven questions will be answered on the Profile later today. I’ll just note when things are updated in a later post, if that’s alright.)

A lightly armored and heavily bearded Half-Orc sits in at a corner table, where he has been noisily tearing into a large roast for most of the night. Occasionally, when the sounds outside are audible over the noise of the bar, he stops in his feasting and glances to the door, stroking the large bearded axe that sits beside him. He always returns to his feasting soon after. The barbarity of this scene is somewhat dampened by the leather-bound tome that the orc turns to occasionally, flipping through a few pages with one hand as he sucks grease and beef bits from the other. With the roast before him finally vanquished, he takes a hearty gulp from the nigh-untouched flagon of ale before him and looks around the room, sniffing as he hears phrases that perk his interest.

Carefully cleaning his hands on a nearby cloth, he gently stows the book in his pack before turning his full attention to the scene before him noting the Hellknight, he lets out a slight growl before downing his remaining ale in another gulp and standing up. Gripping his axe tightly he glares at the nearby patrons to try and ensure that they don’t take his seat (or his pack) and moves up to the bar. “Hellknight, don’t you have any better uses for your time than pestering folk here for an honest drink—like hunting down murderers perhaps?” he growls as he approaches Galdran. “Piss off and do something with that crowd while your at it; riots can’t be good for the city any more than scum like Lamm are.” He hisses “Lamm” with particular vehemence, born of frustration from hours spent moving from bureaucrat to bureaucrat, trying to find justice for his lost Ravenna. Glaring at Galdran, he keeps his axe down at his side—threatening the Hellknight in tone if not in action. Hrrm. Let’s see if a more direct methodology gets results… no one expects much from an angry Half-Orc, after all…

Milena feels too many eyes converging on her to feel comfortable. It seems her subtle interrogation failed and will have to wait.

Moving around her stool as to take in her view as many of them as possible, Milena takes a deceitfully open stance and hopes to give would-be attackers a sense of overconfidence. A shy smile appears on her face as she tries to look fragile and harmless: "Why, gentlemen, I was merely enquiring, in private, of a certain person. I have heard much about him and wondered whether they were only midwives' tales. I, myself, know nothing of the man or if in fact he does exist. Are you friends of his?" With her last words, she extends her palms upward, in a gesture of openness, but ready to grab at a striking hand if need be.

Stay calm Milena! Remember your training. Don't presume...

She steals a look in the direction of the priest to see whether he noticed her situation and could be counted for.

@Djal/Milena/Dreaming Warforged: Milena's alignment is Neutral Good - but Monks must be of Lawful alignment. Pointed it out earlier.

"And hunting down a murderer is exactly what I'm trying to accomplish in here, barbarian, if only you hadn't managed to interrupt a friendly conversation. I'd suggest you be the one to "piss off", so quite well-put, before you end up regretting your actions."

The hellknight then turns to the bard, putting his back to the half-orc and a calm hand in his weapon. Although he seems oblivious to the half-orc, he watches his every move throught the reflections of the bottles in the bar.

"What about that tale?"

"I assure you he does exist, much to the misfortune of this city. And diseases don't have friends, so no I'm not a friend of his." He replies to the defensive woman. He eyes her carefully, seeing through the facade of her attempt at looking frail. He can tell when someone is trained to defend themselves."You can drop the act, it isn't fooling anyone. No one has to get hurt, let's all just sit down and have a drink together while the city plummets further into hell." Demitri says as he takes his drink and sits down next to where she was sitting." I haven't had a drink with a pretty woman in a while. This will be a nice change of pace." Is his choice of words clearly meant to defuse the situation further.

Jel's smile seems genuine again. "But this is wonderful, my friends. Desna is smiling on us all tonight it seems." His arms open wide in a friendly gesture, seemingly unaware of the tension level in the room. "Just how many of us have... business... with that despicable man?" He leans back in his chair, apparently relaxed, but ready to tumble backwards should things get complicated.

Krajan narrows his eyes slightly at Galdran's use of "barbarian," but blinks as the knight's mention of hunting a murderer registers. Interesting... a Korvosan doing his duty, what a thought! He eases up his grip on the axe slightly before nodding curtly. "Perhaps you won't mind if I join you, then. Hunting murderers is an area of interest for me," he puts his best Orcish growl into the statement as he pulls out a stool and waves to the bartender for another drink.

Krajan glances back to make sure that his pack is still in place before looking toward the Hellknight and woman and baring his teeth in a tight, hideous smile. He places his axe on the countertop before him and starts stroking his beard (an image that seems to be a mockery of a well-known Korvosan magistrate who shares that feature). If he's truly hunting murderers, then this may be interesting. If he's feeling warlike... well, a good brawl might take the edge off of things.

Oops! I went looking to see if an archetype was non-lawful, and read something else... and forgot... Thanks! Changed it to LN.

Milena does her best to hide the bit of shame from having her stance so easily read by someone, even though he obviously trains also regularly no doubt.

"Pardon me. I thought I had stumbled on friends of the scoundrel and found myself in a hard place. Obviously, this is not the case and I am instead with friends. Tell me, how did you read my stance with such ease? You must know a thing or two about brawling yourself, no?"

She turns to Jel then: "Praise the Lady of the Spheres for such luck indeed. I raise my cup to Her!"

His mood darkens at such a sad outlook: "Well, by all means, if I know the streets, and I know them well enough, it is where it will all be settled. And I will do all I can to be an agent of peace in the days coming. King or Queen, I will support a just ruler and not gossips!"

"Brawling? Some basics like any recruit of the watch. But I know how to fight and a woman with your athletic build, wouldn't act weak unless it was an act. You obviously look like a warrior, you can't hide that. So what is a unique woman like you doing in a wasteland like this city?" He replies with a flirty smile.

"A respectable deity to be sure. There are some that are way past due for death." He says before taking another drink.

Yenrry rolls his eyes as the big warriors brag of their battle prowess. He stands on his stool; even so, he is still shorter than most in the room even on his perch. He hopes that his voice will be enough to command attention. "Friends, it seems that we have collected in this very room a cadre of gifted, brave warriors, skilled in the arts of battle. Surely, it would be a shame to waste such a collection. I propose some contests to allow our dear comrades to showcase their talents. Perhaps a test of strength or dexterity is in order?"

Is there still time to apply? I'm thinking of a Human Fighter. He was once in the service of a wealthy Korvosan family. He had been charged with taking the children to the market. One child was lost (to Lamm) and he's taken it pretty hard. He was kicked out by his master and now searches for the child on his own. After seeing a Harrow teller, he is convinced it his destiny to find the child and stop Lamm for good.

So that's what I've got so far...

Yes, there's still time. As the first post states, recruitment ends sometime this weekend.

Quatar - Allia Thren, N(G) Human/Half-elf Witch

Hadn't created an avatar yet, Allia is my bard in another game, this here, Vesera Lerun, would be the witch. Sorry for the confusion.

I'll copy/paste my introduction and so into the profile for easier reference.

I was away all day today, just got home, so still didn't have time to jump into the RP. I will read up the rest of the thread that I missed, and will post then.

A fellow practitioner...

"Well seen! I am humbled by the breadth of your perception. I hope we get a chance to someday practice. I would be honoured to learn from you." With that, she bows to the newcomer.

Got ninjaed while writing my other post... Durant truly is a master!

Smile....

Durant does not return the bow. He seems a tad confused by the gesture.

Yes, totally love them too :)

And glad to hear that. I just want to add, that even with another healer, I'd be willing to go that concept, as secondary healer then, I might focus some less on heals and buffs (at least those the other class can do), maybe take another patron, and pick up some other spells/hexes etc. Get some more debuffs for example (but still won't be focusing totally on debuffs) - or the cleric wants to be the secondary healer and concentrate on self-buffs/melee etc.

Vyshael takes a sip of his wine, then winces and speaks, "I was not going to say anything, content to listen and see what I learned, but, I, too, have run afoul of the snake known as Lamm... and intending my business with him to be the last he ever knows.... However, I won't attribute the coincidence of so many of us here to some sort of divine influence... Rather, I suspect it's just further evidence of just how cancerous Lamm truly is."

Vyshael looks over at Durant and the woman with a puzzled look, I believe all the hate fermenting in this room is directed at one who is not here... and yet they seem to be posturing for a battle? Ah, wait, they've relaxed... and what's this now, the bard wishes for us to play some sort of game?

He turns to the halfling and says, somewhat optimistically, "My own skills are somewhat less physical in nature, minstrel, but by all means play your games. Anything to shake the dark mood in this room and perhaps reduce the tension."

He himself nods in agreement to this comment as he overhears their conversation. He takes another large swig of his ale as the bar's patrons begin speaking louder and more frequently. "Well, at least this place ain't totally a bust" he says to himself aloud.

Body Language:
He would seem a bit tightened about the talk involving Gaedren Lamm. So far, he's been to himself for the most part, other than a few exchanges of banter with others. He's seemed pretty loose until the conversation turned this direction.

Bluff to conceal as best as he can: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20

"All you spell-slingers make my arm-hair stand up" he smirks and shakes his head towards the people conversing about their capabilities, leaning on his elbow against the bar top.

Name
Sig Svensen (?)

Crunch:
Human Fighter (no Archetype) Alignment: LG
STR: 16*(5); DEX: 16(10); CON: 14(5); INT: 8(-2); WIS: 10; CHA: 12(2)
Skills: will include ranks in Sense Motive and Diplomacy
Traits: Harrowed, Missing Child
Feats: Iron Will, TWF, Double Slice

Fluff
I picture Sig as being a bit of a Paladin, but not really. He's got a code and he's got a conviction. If Sig says he'll do something, he'll move heaven and Golarian to do it. He's not comfortable with deception, but he won't necessarily veto it if there is a Good reason. Like everyone, Sig wants to find a place his place in the world.

    1. How did Gaedren Lamm ruin your life? Gaedren lured one of my wards into an ally, while we were in the market. I didn’t see who stole the child, but much investigation has lead me to this conclusion.
    2. What do you think of the tension at the royal court between King Eodred II and the Royal Queen Ileosa? That’s not my business, did the man stray from bed? Bah, I truly care not.
    3. Do you think you could change Korvosa for the better? How? Ridding the city of Lamm would be a wonderful change, and all who prey on children and the weak. I’ll go it alone, or I’ll work with like minded people.
    4. What will your character contribute to the group? Sig is a tough warrior, smarter than you might think. He’s not a dawdler, so he’ll want to move plans forward.
    5. What are your plans for your character mechanically? Right now, we’re going for a straight Fighter, little bit of TWF with some 2-hander and perhaps slinging a shield for emergency use.
    6. What are your plans for your character from a story-perspective? Find Lamm! Retore the child to his family! Develop loyal friends who are worth enough to die for. Oh yeah, and meta-game wise, I bet there is something to find out about a throne too…
    7. Consider your character's heritage: could he (or she) possibly be of noble or royal blood, or is he (or she) a lowborn commoner? I’m thinking more like low-born nobleman. He himself was a Ward of a noble family, and so he was very disgraced when Lamm stole the child.[/b]

"Alright - what shall it be? We could go the old-fashioned, brutal test of strength - arm wrestling. Or maybe a subtle test of dexterity is in order in the form of a spot of darts? Or, perhaps we should explore the option of trying the oldest, most noble test of fortitude: a drinking contest? Any interest in any of those fine showcases of talent? The winner will earn a mention in my next performance - a prize that is truly priceless."

Actually changed my last name to "Arkona" to match that of an NPC in the player's guide, Glorio Arkona. Not too closely related to him, but member of his family. If you don't like that, just say so and I'll change it back.

Since she got disowned the name probably doesn't help her at all, infact might make it more likely people heard about what she's been accused of.

"Darts... Brew...?! Count me in!" He sticks out a thumbs up, sloshing his ale around as he holds it in the opposite hand to quickly give the thumbs up.
