Some of my friends on the left seem as fanatically purist as the Tea Partiers on the right. One of them is out crusading against Sanders because "he's no Eugene Debs." Haven't gotten a reply to my query as to whether he'd prefer Clinton, Cruz, or Trump in the White House instead.

The Leftists who deride Sanders for running for the Democratic nomination are stubbornly ignoring one basic fact. It WILL be either a Democrat or a Republican winning the next election. Nothing outside of cosmic intervention is going to change that fact.

Have fun voting for Hillary in 2016, Bernie supporters.

Looks like Mr. Comrade didn't do much during my vacation, either, except set up his cozy new domestic situation with the Nigerian Princess and play Dragon Age 3. Turns out Nigerian food is wicked spicy, and, apparently, ground dried crayfish is a staple spice. It was pretty yummy, but I could only eat half my plate it was so hot. At one point, Mr. Comrade asked how many hot peppers the NP used and she replied, "Just one. Oh, wait a sec, do you guys consider jalapenos hot peppers?" She doesn't.

Anyway, tomorrow it's:

All out against the KKK! Anti-Racist Speakout and Rally: Nationwide KKK counter-demonstration #whoisburningblackchurches #thisisWORR

Good thing we made a "Finish the Civil War!" sign before I went on vaykay.

I haven't grown them in a couple years now, but I always found (homegrown) hot peppers to be like Russian roulette. For every 5 or 6 peppers of normal/expected heat there was 1 that was blisteringly hot... not a little hotter, but paint-strippingly oh-my-gob-guzzle-some-milk-that's-not-working-AUGH hot. I dunno if it was the higher sulfur ground water I watered with or some natural variation.

Today I went to Bradford to pay homage to Walter Greaves, Bradfordian, vegetarian, teetotaller, Communist and one-armed long distance cycling champ, and Harry Pollitt, Lancastrian and CPGB general secretary, then spent the afternoon sending dirty poems to a delighted PFPL.

And as an extra special treat (since he came up in conversation), here's winner of the Stalin Peace Prize, George Formby, to sing you a song.

Interestingly, the latter had an article denouncing the latest GE contract as a sellout. Comrade Omar worked on that contract, albeit for UE whereas the article writer is complaining about the IUE. Hmm.

Also, got my picture taken holding a "Finish the Civil War!" sign standing behind Red Steve Kirschbaum while he was giving a speech about Robert Gould Shaw and the Massachusetts 54th. Sent it to La Principessa, I'm sure she'll be jealous.

Then Mr. Comrade, the Nigerian Princess and I went and played D&D.

Work, work, work. Overtime, overtime, overtime. Work all week and no communism. :(

Lowell Folk Festival is this weekend, though. Try to sell socialist newspapers to the well-heeled ex-hippie crowd.

Had an interesting conversation with the Nigerian Princess awhile ago that I have forgotten to write up until now:

I have no idea how it came up, but we were talking about catcalling, or street harassment if you prefer, and she said she was quite ambivalent about it. On the one hand, she said, when guys whistle at her or whatever, she gives them her "biznitchface." But, she added, as soon as they were gone she would smile because "You know, I must be looking good."

I told her that she had to stop sending mixed signals like that. "What do you mean?" she protested, "I don't send mixed signals, I glare at them."

"Yeah," I said, "but then you come back here and tell me and [Mr. Comrade] about it and then we go on the internet and tell everybody what you said. Stop perpetuating your own oppression, [Nigerian Princess]!"

Meanwhile, apparently, Mr. Comrade has been catcalled three times by black and/or brown girls since he has moved to Lowell.

I am apparently living in the wrong place.

Haven't had time to really sit back and websurf, lately, but I did today and found two interesting articles about the Russian Civil War from a post on Facebook by a fellow Paizonian! Huzzah! We're taking over!

No, no. Actually, here, he's not a politroll, have never even run into him on the boards, he mostly lurks up in one of the Adventure Path forums, apparently. He used to run around and comment on pictures of me holding various signs and saying things like "What happened to 'Vive le Galt?'"

Ooh!

At my instigation, our Maine comrade wrote an article for one of our NH comrade's websites on the Tulsa bombing.

Has Anything Changed? Learning from the Tulsa Race Riots of 1921

I didn't write it, but it makes me feel like I accomplished something. Huzzah!

This week was mostly work and moping about La Principessa, who played the whole "I'm mad at you because you can't read my mind" card which led to three days of non-communication before she called up, crying and reconciliatory.

Meanwhile, I see on Facebook that she keeps going to free outdoor movies with her Male-Was-in-a-Polyamorous-Relationship-Which-Just-Ended-Guatemalan-Anarcho- Syndicalist-Aspiring-Playwright friend. Hmmm....

CAJE work has slowed down a bit over the summer, although we did have a table at the Lowell Folk Festival and got t-shirts made! But I don't think we sent anyone to the Boston Sandra Bland demo on Tuesday. But we are having a (not entirely legit) Pride film showing tomorrow night which should roll nicely into the Verizon strike that will most likely be starting Saturday.

Strike! Strike! Strike!
The system is a CAJE!

Verizon strike appears to be on hold.

Verizon wants to bust the union

At the Pride showing, somewhere around the half hour mark, the Nigerian Princess apparently turned to Mr. Comrade and complained "There aren't any black people in this movie!" Somewhere around the hour mark, she had changed her mind and exclaimed "This movie is awesome!"

At one point, I saw Lowell Carpenter dude crying.

At the CAJE meeting, the Coloured Princess, who is a fashion designer, subjected our t-shirts to a withering critique and, later, I noticed that there were periods after "C," "A," and "J" but not "E". [Facepalm] Hey, they were made by Lone Working-Class Black Woman, you go tell her her t-shirts suck!

Supposed to have a CAJE meeting on Tuesday, a first Ain't I a Woman?: Black Women and Feminism reader's circle gathering on Thursday, La Principessa finally comes up here (summer's only half f%~!ing over!) on Friday and some kind of branch meeting on Saturday, all the while waiting to see if Verizon goes out. I'm guessing I'm not going to make it to everything.

Dude you are rocking that mullet.

Thank you, but it's not really a mullet. It's the same length in front and back, just the front is swept back.

Anyway, I've been paying no attention to the rise of one Jeremy Corbyn, but I couldn't resist the following headline...

Jeremy Corbyn is backed by 'malign Trots' warns ex-Labour leader Neil Kinnock as he urges members to back Andy Burnham

Thatcher wannabe and worst Speaker of the House ever Bronwyn Bishop was destroyed politically by getting caught abusing her travel privileges..

"In mid-July 2015, Bishop became embroiled in controversy surrounding her use of parliamentary travel entitlements that ultimately led to her resignation as Speaker. It had emerged that she had chartered helicopter flights from Melbourne to Geelong and back to attend a state Liberal party fundraiser on 5 November 2014. The cost of the flights was $5,227.27 for a journey that typically takes an hour each way by road. Bishop refused to resign over the expenses claim"... Until the PM her best friend and biggest supporter was forced to ask her to resign because his party was taking a hammering in the poles.

A big part of her destruction was her helicopter trips had become a meme LINK. The government is a total joke at the moment.

Labor is still annoying me the leader is from the Right, my preferred leader is old school Left but the powerful unions in my state are controlled by the conservative catholic right of the Labor movement....

Apparently, there was a story in the Daily ToryGrar accusing *us* of doing the same thing.

We haven't. We're not allowed!

"Indeed the same dark question often rose into her mind, with reference to the whole race of womanhood. Was existence worth accepting, even to the happiest among them? As concerned her own individual existence, she had long ago decided in the negative, and dismissed the point as settled. A tendency to speculation, though it may keep woman quiet, as it does man, yet makes her sad. She discerns, it may be, such a hopeless task before her. As a first step, the whole system of society is to be torn down, and built up anew. Then, the very nature of the opposite sex, or its long hereditary habit, which has become like nature, is to be essentially modified, before woman can be allowed to assume what seems a fair and suitable position. Finally, all other difficulties being obviated, woman cannot take advantage of these preliminary reforms, until she herself shall have undergone a still mightier change;..."

Hot damn.

Spoilered for being less Women's-Liberation-Through-Socialist-Revolution!-ish but still pretty awesome

Spoiler:
"...in which, perhaps, the ethereal essence, wherein she has her truest life, will be found to have evaporated. A woman never overcomes these problems by any exercise of thought. They are not to be solved, or only in one way. If her heart chance to come uppermost, they vanish. Thus, Hester Prynne, whose heart had lost its regular and healthy throb, wandered without a clew in the dark labyrinth of mind; now turned aside by an insurmountable precipice; now starting back from a deep chasm. There was wild and ghastly scenery all around her, and a home and comfort nowhere. At times, a fearful doubt strove to possess her soul, whether it were not better to send Pearl at once to heaven, and go herself to such futurity as Eternal Justice should provide."

Man, there doesn't seem like there's been a good politroll thread on here in a while.

Meanwhile, Mr. Comrade and I have become increasingly disgruntled with our particular brand of the Leninist vanguard party. For example, haven't posted a single post about the reelection campaign of Comrade Kshama out in Seattle. Well, she made it through the primaries. Yay.

Was much more excited by the recent debacle of Black Lives Matter-esque activists disrupting Bomber Bernie's appearance in Seattle. #1) As near as I can tell (and I might be wrong) it happened at celebration of fifty years of Medicaid and Medicare or something to which he was invited by Comrade Kshama; i.e., it might have been one of our events (hee hee!); #2) the disrupters were (former?) members of a group called Outside Agitators 206, a group that was joined by one my former comrades, and one of La Principessa's informants, when he got too disgruntled with my particular brand of the Leninist vanguard party (hee hee!).

I am kind of surprised.

No one's been talking about how Trump is going to lead us all to a perfect capitalist utopia. Or how Bernie will drag us down into socialist hell. Or even how Rand Paul really will save us this time.

There's been plenty of good material out there. Just no takers here.

In Australia the polls are saying that our conservative government would be crushed by 36 seats and that our PM is about as popular as diarrhoea in a chocolate shop.

Nobody is jumping up and down with joy.

We are all just tired of politics and politicians and want them all to f*#& off out our lives.

Well, here, Corbyn Fever is still rampaging unabated, if that isn't a horribly mixed metaphor. Still, it's making people who are in the Labour party and think the Right Way feel a bit more enthusiastic about staying in and encouraging other people to join up and vote for him, which is good; it's also funny watching various Blairites and Brownites tie themselves into knots trying to sound leftie, though the height of hilarity is seeing various Big Beasts of the past wade into the battle, threatening us with 1,000 years of Tory Darkness unless we follow the path of sensible reform, i.e. the same old s**t as the Conservatives offer with a rainbow sticker on it. Still, you have to admire their commitment - Tony B. could have pulled approximately £3,000,000 out of his bum in the time it took him to syndicate his op-ed piece about the leadership election. Not that he needs it.

Heh. I just saw an article about the Communist League of Tampa on Facebook the other day. Half of the picture, I'm assuming, was the Floridian comrades; the other half was a bunch of LARP-ers.

More left-wing nerds.

Actually, though, the picture on the left has young comrades holding up anti-Tory papers, so I guess it's not the comrades from, of course I'm going to call them, CLiT.

Set up a table at Lawrence, Massachussetts' Bread and Roses Festival and ran into Sister Linda Horan who had just come from the New Hampshire Labor Day Breakfast. Last week, Sister Linda announced via Facebook that she has terminal lung cancer.

Quotes from Facebook:

"At the Labor Day Breakfast, NH AFL-CIO President Glenn Brackett presented my dear comrade Linda Horan with the NH AFL-CIO’s Solidarity Award for lifetime contributions to the labor movement. Richly deserved.
Linda, who has stage 4 lung cancer, stressed that she has one more fight in her. She respectfully but pointedly and emotionally urged Governor Maggie Hassan to do something about the State’s cruel foot-dragging in setting up the medical marijuana dispensaries that legislators approved two years ago. She pulled no punches. Linda’s doctors have told her that without medical marijuana she will eventually have to go on narcotics. She pleaded with the governor to act so that she isn’t forced to spend her last days in a narcotic stupor and told the governor that she would be calling regularly."
