How do I find out who my Venture Captain is?

Liberty's Edge

I think I want to turn my local store into PFS Central, but I'd like to make contact with my Venture Captain to get the ball rolling. How do I find out who that is and how to contact him/her?

You don't really need your venture captain to do anything as far as organizing a local gameday.

Is there something you need help with?

Easyest way might be to use the "find events in my area link". Any game stores that pop up would know if you have a captain local.

Feral: I was just hoping to get it as organized as possible. I would like to go in to the store with a full "business plan" as it were. I already run an unaffiliated biweekly Pathfinder game there and know the owner would appreciate all the details up front.

Thraxital: "Your zip code is not in our database..."

Dragnmoon: Connecticut (southwestern)

Omega Man: thanks. Hey look, just like baseball and football, we're stuck between NY and Boston! ;)

I was hoping there would be an existing regional structure to not only help get something going at the store, but also work in some of the local cons and stuff.

One more LINK.

Good luck. I hope that helps.

Your closest VC is probably Art Lobdell in NYC. If he can't personally get to the store in your area of CT, he should at least be able to offer you logistical support once you've got something set up. I know he organizes several reasonably sized conventions in Connecticut throughout the year, so he may have contacts there who can assist.

Art Lobdell (NY,NY) is involved in some Connecticut cons.

If there are questions that can be answered thru email, I'm sure that any Venture-Captain would be happy to help. My address is on my profile.

Painlord's guides are very helpful, as well.

Edit: Ninja ate my head.

Reynard,

I am the new Venture-Lieutenant occupying the CT region. If you need help or have any questions please contact me at: pfsctguru@gmail.com. I know of a number of people out in your neck of the woods who would be interested in a closer game.

Right now I run a monthly gathering in Newington, CT and you are more than welcome to come check it out.

One thing, all the games in my area except for one was done without consulting the venture captain. Basically, they do the conventions (20% of the games but an important 20%) and get 'on the street' imput. I play primarily at two stores (one of which has a national reputation as pathfinder central) and I don't think our venture captain has visited the other store ever.

Things that are helpful--

1) A online board where people can sign up. Also, where stores can see what the other ones are doing so you don't have 3 session of 'Murder on the Throaty Mermaid' in one week.

2) Rotateing DMs.

3) Collect $2 dollars from each player to compensate the GM. But have a few people willing to DM.

3) As times goes on start to work in more higher level modules.

Additionally, for anyone wanting to contact their local Venture-Captain, the last page of the Guide to Pathfinder Society Organised Play lists each Venture-Captain by Region along with their contact email address, as does the Pathfinder Society Regional Coordinators page.
