Wild Empathy

Rules Questions

so i'm stating up a ranger and i have a negative charisma modifier...
do i use that negative modifier in my wild empathy check or because i don't have a "charisma bonus", would i just use d20+RangerLevel+0???
thanks in advance

Well, the rules-as-written say to use your "Charisma bonus" not "Charisma modifier." So, strictly speaking a negative Charisma modifier would not be added to this roll.

Based on the wording about "This ability functions just like a Diplomacy check," I don't think that was their intent and that the subtle difference between bonus and modifier slipped past the editor.

Alas, dura lex sed lex.

I think it was meant that way makes since that you dont have to be smooth to get along with animals.
