Trapfinding Ninja

Ninja Discussion: Round 1

Since it is not possible to switch archetypes, would it be unbalancing to swap a Ninja's 1st level Poison Use ability for standard Rogue Trapfinding?

there still gotta be a reason to choose rogue over ninja.

if you want your ninja to be a partial trap finder take the trap spotter talent.

you still cant deal with magical traps but it helps.

still if your group wants to houserule the swap you suggest is ok

Liberty's Edge

Before the Ninja there was little point in being a Rogue, now the Ninja provides all that a Rogue dreamed of being able to do so finally the Rogue can be buried.

You can Houserule it if you like, but otherwise just have a Ranger take an archetype to deal with traps. Thats what everyone did to avoid wasting space on a Rogue before the Ninja existed :)

Think I'll just houserule it for this campaign then. None of the players are into rogues anyway, so making it a moot class is not a deal-breaker. Think I'd have to make this decision on a campaign by campaign basis though. I can see how making that a perm option could lead to lots of ninjas and no rogues.

Liberty's Edge

Making it a permenant change or game by game basis should make no real difference - If trapfinding is the only reason someone is going Rogue in the first place then there are plenty of better choices.
