So I was looking over the Arcane Archer PrC when I noticed that the spell progression simply states "+1 level of existing class." It does not specify that it has to be an arcane class, unlike Dragon Disciple which explicitly states arcane spell progression.
So, does that mean that you could advance divine spellcasting with AA? An Oracle, Cleric, or Inquisitor could easily take a 1 level dip in Bard or Magus to meet the arcane spellcasting requirements to enter the class, then just continue with their divine spellcasting while raining arrows of death. That might also open up some interesting Imbue Arrow options unavailable to arcane casters.
Is this legit?

Aww. I find it oddly inconsistent, then, that Dragon Disciple specifies arcane casting both within the text and on the table, Arcane Archer only says it in the text, and Arcane Trickster doesn't specify arcane advancement anywhere.
I think that the text always trump the table, so it's arcane only sorry :(

Since the class is Elf specific and Elves have a natural affinity to arcane magic and arcane casting is a prereqisite, all signs point towards arcane spellcasting class only, even if the table says any.
But divine casters don't have that many powerful AoE spells I think. So while definitely interesting I don't think it would be overpowered or anything.
I'd certainly allow it ^^
(A custom feat that would allow you to fire a Channel Energy with an arrow would be cool too)

I think the class WAS Elf specific, I think there has been an errata that remove racial pre-requisite from all PRC, but I can be wrong since I haven't find any trace of it (though my search-fu is weak, so maybe it's me ;) )
