Ronin.. Err.?

Samurai Discussion: Round 1

Beyond the very limited ability they get from challenge there is something else that bugs me about the ronin..

Every other order of cav and sam so far gets some sort of unique ability that goes with their class skills. For example order of the dragon gains the ability to add 1/2 their class level to specific survival checks. Not totally major, but its like having a chocolate cake and missing the frosting. Can't really call it a cake then, more of a chocolate bread really.

You know. Being Ronin sucks.

More seriously, I think they "balanced" the class for the fact that you can directly become one in zero time.

IMHO Knowledge (local) fits.

(BTW, the same, the challenge vs other cavaliers should be a flavour bonus - something more should be added, maybe temporary HP or whatelse).

Its not the knowledge local.. Its that every other order gains some sort of small ability along with their class skills.

Cockatrice gains +cha vs intimidate checks
Dragon gains a limited bonus equal to 1/2 his level on survival
Sword gains 1/2 his level to sense motive vs bluff.
Lion and Warrior gains bonuses for know: Nobility

Which is why I prose that the Ronin gains one of the following..

1/2 class level on con checks for stabilization and becoming conscious.
1/2 class level to negative hp required to actually kill the ronin.
1/2 class level to survival on specific checks.
Perhaps +Cha on those near death con checks.

Sorry, I dind't explain it correctly - I meant something similar to the Lion or Dragon.

But now I like more negative HP thing :D

Yeah, I picture the ronin, esspecially with all of his order abilities, to be some guy you always think is dead. He should have died. But he didn't and now he is back and going all Punisher on people :P

With Diehard, It's something like a samuari manga (or, in my setting, Monty Python's black knight somewhat :P).

Gallons of blood everywhere and the dude keeps walking and fighting.
