He needs to take a page from Charles Rangel's book. Nothing stops that guy, not even being convicted of 11 counts of ethics violations. (Oddly enough, Rangel is the only Democrat I've heard say anything in support of Weiner...not that I don't think there are closet wiener fans in Congress.)
If he were in Germany, he wouldn't be having this problem, because his name would be pronounced "viner."

Unfortunate. I people who used to work for him. I wonder how this is affecting them.

He doesn't have the charisma and gravitas of Rangels to pull it off. Also he's been far more personally humiliated and pilloried than Rangels ever was. Money corruption is a trivial thing compared to sex. Stick a fork in his career, because he's done.

Repressed attitudes towards sex due to the general domination of conservativeness.
I hadn't even heard about all the scandal until my boss brought it up the other day while we were out to lunch. I interrupted him and asked if Weiner was a democrat. He asked why and I mentioned that it'd be nice to have a Republican caught in a sex scandal with a female for a change. But alas, it was not meant to be.

sorry, the media fun with his last name is infectious ... hopefully not like an STD.
But only after Beohner made fun of him.

Hmm. This is weird.
When I read this post "straight" it says "He doesn't have the hotspa" (chutzpah, btw) but when I go to reply it says "charisma and gravitas".
Like I said, weird.
EDIT: Now (50 minutes later) it's NOT doing that.

Dude, we just had Arnold Schwarzenegger, although granted the scandal only broke after he left office.
What about SC governor Mark Sanford?
Or Congressman Chris Lee?
And we know Newt Gingrich is on schedule to start banging future wife #4 any day now while still married to current wife #3.

Not to mention Sen. John Ensign, and Sen. David Vitters. In fact, even according to the Daily Kos, 99.9% of Republican sex scandals involve women. I am sure that the numbers are about the same with Democrats as well.

As unfair as it is, he most likely would have survived this scandal if his last name wasn't Wiener. Had that not been his last name, the press would have either not covered it, or let it go quickly, but because the jokes wrote themselves, it remained in the limelight, and pulled out all the folks who want to show that American is devolving into a modern day Sodom. The ongoing press coverage made all the rest of the politicians want to have an opportunity to show they are "fighting corruption in government" by calling for his resignation.

We all know how the press loves to hold onto their Wieners.
I think the funiest thing I heard during all this is that he called President Clinton to apologize for the scandal (having worked for him previously.)

Awesome, truly awesome, on both counts. :)
