In regards to the Use Magic Device skill, does this mean a WotHL is treated as a character who doesn't have a spell list (e.g. rogue with a wand), or does this mean you cannot use spell trigger items, period, ever, even with UMD?

Imho, UMD works as usual. A WotHL is simply treated as a character without spell list, I think.

This. UMD is specifically for activating magic items without the right spell list. Compare to the rules for activating them:

Spell Trigger Items wrote:
Spell trigger items can be used by anyone whose class can cast the corresponding spell. This is the case even for a character who can't actually cast spells, such as a 3rd-level paladin.

Normally a paladin without the ability to cast spells still can use the items as if he could, but WotHL gives that up entirely.

That's right.

For example a 5th level paladin with CHA 10 can't cast any spells but can use a wand of cure light wounds without any problem, the warrior of the holy light can't do that (and that's why he needs the UMD).
