Calla's also designed for frontline combat, and will certainly be willing to get into flanking situations with Charles. If you've got access to haste, Calla will probably memorize something else in the future, though her third-level spells aren't the most offensive in her bag of tricks (perhaps I should've spent a little more money there; oh well). Most of her casting was designed to get her in position to use her sword/protect herself while at the front.

Augrim also likes flanks, not because of any extra damage, but he gets a much higher flanking bonus to hit than normal. He also likes to be next to allies in case they get an attack of opportunity against something he's threatening.
Basically he likes to gang up and surround one baddie at a time. He's a bully.
In this current situation, though, he realizes that they need to reduce the enemy numbers quickly, so it's go wherever the damaged ones are.

I'm enjoying it so far. I might've given us a day to role-play on the trip to the oasis, but I'm excited to see how combat's going and what Calla can do. (But man, they were bunched up so nicely at the start, I wish I could've dropped a fireball on them. Roast bug could've made a nice dinner.)
You've definitely got a good handle on the rules, which I very much appreciate (since I obviously don't). ; ) I might not copy our posts almost verbatim for combat, though, and focus a little more on just the results of the actions. That's just my opinion, though. Not sure if the others agree.

For a long time I thought the same thing as you Charles. That a grappling creature could only get one 'attack.' When I was running Kingmaker though the party kept running into oulbears, who have Grab and I kep thinking Why in the world would anyone want thei rowlbear to grapple, they'd be missing out on two attacks for one sure hit with a huge drop in survivability! So I spent some time reading through the grapple rules and realized just how dangerous they can be.

Hey gang, I'm heading to las vegas with my lady for a a show, dinner, and couple of romantic evenings. I won't be able to play from sunday to tuesday night. So if you want to autoplay jeroph it's cool.
He's going to buff the party, trick their foes, and then engage combat as needed.

It is an Improved Familiar - a Silvanshee Agathion, which can 'Lay on Hands' as a Paladin = to its HD (which, in this case, is my level -2, or 7).
It is not too ridiculous; I had to spend three feats, after all...

Two feats ;) Well spent I think since you'd got a fair amount of them. That's one of the best familiars you can get.

Charles Beecroft |

Well, I *did* have to take Skill Focus before I could take the two familiar-based feats ;-)
I wanted to take something slightly whimsical, rather than just getting two more combat feats :-/

Calumny Tas'Vere |

Don't people just take skill focus for fun? : )
Little confused on where we are in combat. I think Augrim and I should have a couple more scorpions to kill, no? (s7 and s8) I could quite tell if you were waiting for a few more actions first.

Ridley single-handidly killed the remaining three scorpions actually. I thought that: "Except for plumes of smoke from the smoldering scorpions there is little movement. Occasionally a leg will flex and bend as the creatures twitch in their death." Was a good sign that the fight ended, but I suppose I could have been clearer.
...queues FF7 victory theme...

Calumny Tas'Vere |

Ah, sorry, didn't realize Ridley had also tossed bombs in our direction. Your post definitely indicated everyone was dead, just couldn't quite figure out how it had happened, but that'd explain it. That'll teach me to read and post before I'm fully awake. : )

I'll be offline Saturday morning through Sunday evening. Feel free to DMPC Calla if need be, but hopefully I won't miss too much.
She'll continue to use her invisibility to her advantage, getting close to the group's leader -- or the person holding the Pathfinder if the others haven't dealt with that -- and casting as she goes. She'll probably do shield first, then slow if it hasn't already been cast by an ally. Afterword, she'd likely do an empowered (by magus arcana) magic missile.
