Bunch of young kids sitting around a table playing an rpg and interacting and having fun. Transition to these kids being older, middle school age, playing the same rpg. Keep transitioning until they get to middle age. Have some players leave and new ones join. Call it the "Game of Life"
Then finally segueway to table of omnipotent looking types playing same game but with PC's names as character sheets...
Game of Life indeed...

very meta....
Have it set around a games table with a specific encounter dealing with breaking into a fantastic prison and rescuing a PC's family member.
Have it end with them working out various strategies and heading home with the dm taking a moment to make sure noone is watching as he/she casts a spell and mutters,"How about these plans for rescuing your sibling?" he/she asks his/her patron.

It's too late now, I'm sure, but if you could find a copy of Terry Bisson's short story collection Bears Discover Fire, you'd find a whole bunch of fun little stories that could be made into films.
If I had to make a film, I'd try to do "Press Ann", a little story about love, birthdays, and an ATM machine.

Make a movie about a guy who goes on the internet and asks other people to do his homework for him.
YAY for constructive help to the conversation.
Does it have to be an original work? Can you adapt a written story, etc? There are several Kurt Vonnegut Jr short stories that could be done in 15 minutes that could be very interesting to do. Probably would only work if you and/or the teacher like Vonnegut though, lol.
