Product Request Ultimate environment

Liberty's Edge

Being a Dm one of the many 3.5 products I liked were the various environment books from 3.5 and 3pp. It made it easier to create a homebrew campaign. I also think ti would be useful to have a bok on different environments along woth specific races, feats, classes and equipment.

I would also buy such a book. There's others I'd like first, but I'd buy one.

My request is that we get away from using the word Ultimate. Other than that, I'm all for the environmental books.

The biggest problem with environmental books is they tend to add new rules that change the way environments work - so the challenge is to do an environment book that enhances an environmental setting without altering the way existing locations in that environment work.

What's wrong with the world ultimate?

I wouldn't mind seeing something like this either, though I dont know if I'd want to call it 'ultimate environment'. The concept is good though.

It's too WWF for my liking. Not that I'm the arbiter of such things, but I like the sublety of Core Rulebook, Bestiary, Gamemaster's Guide, Advanced Player's Guide, etc.

With books like Ultimate Magic and Ultimate Combat, I can hear it now:

"Sunday, Sunday, Sunday! Only at the Paizo Colosseum! The Heavyweight Challenge between Ultimate Magic's Magus and Ultimate Combat's Ninja!!! ONE DAY ONLY!!! Tickets-twenty-five-dollars-in-advance-forty-dollars-at-the-door-call-1-800 -ROXORZZ-now-tickets-are-limited."

Heh. Reminds me more of Marvel Comics' habit of picking an adjective to overuse into the ground for a few years. For a while, everything was New. New Avengers, New Thunderbolts, etc. They also had their Ultimate line of books...the Avengers in that version was called The Ultimates.

Then they canceled the Ultimate line, and brought it back as Ultimate Comics: comicname.

Which led to the most amazingly headdesky book in the history of ever: Ultimate Comics: New Ultimates.

Overuse may drain it of... epicity.

*ahem*

sign me up for it. I like it way better than epic lvl handbook, because in my opinion, the first 10 lvls are the most enjoyable ones.

One might even put some new skill uses, feats, environment specific alternate classes in it. (don't overdo it) It shouldn't be a GM-book, Players should also profit from it.

The player end of an environment book are the sub-systems for things like slipping on ice and other kinds of terrain tactical things. Such a book would also be a good place to look at advance maneuvers that combine Combat Maneuvers with skill checks, such as climbing Gargantuan or Colossal creatures if such things don't make it into Ultimate Combat.

The 3.5 ones were quite good books IMHO (barring THAT spell in Frostburn of course).

This is a great idea. Fantastic environments are one of the elements making fantasy awesome IMHO.

Special terrains, extreme climates, special magic rules for zones (no endless water cantrip in this desert, SORRY!), mundane and magical environment hazards, mundane and magical means to protect the travelers..

Add in Paizo art...

I've found that that spell, with proper errat, is cruel but not a sure thing any more.

Of course, that takes someone running the game who's willing to look at it and go "Oh, of course, it was supposed to be a penalty that can't reduce it below 1!"
