Blind oracle with Deepsight

Rules Questions

An oracle with the blind curse has her vision limited to 30 or 60 feet but gains darkvision.

Deepsight increases the range of your vision from 60 feet to 120 feet.

Is there a reason this combination should not work?

The thematic reason that I can see for not allowing it is that most creatures with darkvision can see with normal vision for as far as line of sight exists. An oracle can only see 30 or 60 feet with any type of vision. The feat is not only extending the range of her darkvision, but extending the range of all her vision.

I think that RAW, the combination works, so I'm more looking for RAI and/or balance considerations.

I believe the specific (oracle curse) overrides the general (deepsight), and so the curse would continue to limit her vision.

RAI there was a similar case for the lame oracle taking options to increase her speed again. There was an erata written for that to disallow it.

Taking this as precedence I would expect the same for a blind oracle. You should not be able to overcome a curse by using a feat.

The oracle's clouded vision states:
You cannot see anything beyond 30 feet, but you can see as if you had darkvision.

1. It doesn't say "grants darkvision".
->edit 1b) Also Deepsight has the prerequisite "Darkvision 60'"
2. Even a creature who already has darkvision would be restricted by the "cannot see anything beyond 30 feet."

So a creature with darkvision and deepsight who is cursed with the oracle curse of clouded vision (say by taking a level of oracle as a multiclass option) cannot see anything past 30', and gains no benefit from the curse until 10th level when they gain blindsense. They will never be able to see beyond the 60' granted at 5th level, unless, as pointed out above, a deity intervenes. The deepsight feat is negated in its entirety by the clouded vision curse.
