While I think this issue has pretty well settled itself (And WOW is that rare on game forums nowadays!!), I wanted to post the following, only because a few fans have asked me about the site and it's use of some SGG material, and pointed me to this thread. So, just for the record:

We at Super Genius Games appreciate the 2-week "delay" that d20pfsrd gives to our new products, and we appreciate the service the site provides to the community.

We have no beef with the site whatsoever.

(And thanks to Erik for creating such nice wording for me to steal!)

I hereby use this thread to announce that my back is mostly better, and I challenge OWEN K C STEPHENS to a match of STRENGTH, AGILITY and ENDURANCE, to be known henceforth as THE OTHER GREAT RED RIVER RIVALRY.

So, when can you drive down here for my convenience and your humiliating beat-down?

I'd like to think that Paizo and d20pfsrd are a proof that you can throw your stuff free on the interwebs and still profit.

Now, if the recording, movie and video game industries took a page out of that...

I wonder if the swooning will entail fainting at the sight or the sound like the three blonde triplets in Disney's Beauty and the Beast?

Maybe after I win, I will be persuaded to arrange a public screening.

I don't think the winner should get that. The swooning bit isn't terribly appealing and will likely provoke repeated forceful regurgitation.

I was always curious about how this applied to OGL products, and if they must post content for free, before they can make a profit on OGL material. And if that is the case, it would be the company releasing the products that needs to post it, versus a third party, unless there is an agreement. But either way, people are pretty set in regards to what media they like. I have friends who started with d20PFSRD on a trial basis, but bought the book for when they are playing at the table. Part of buying a book or PDF is ease of access. I believe this would only be threatened if someone developed a digital book (offline tool), or similar utility to reference the open content. At least for people who don't buy books.

I love the site. When my group finishes our current campaign, (Any year now...) we'll be switching to Pathfinder rules. Knowing there's a site with all the rules is quite a boon in facilitating the costs involved. Eventually, everyone will own a book - same scenario we've all seen before, right? But this way, my friends can buy them when it's a better choice for their wallets, and no one gets left behind. Without this site, it would be impossible to convince the group to move on to Pathfinder.

Thanks for all the effort and hard work.

Ah, I see what you're saying, Elton. "When Mairkurion wins, we all win." Very clever. Even, on some mystical level, when OKCS goes down in humiliating defeat, he will be winning, since he lost to me. How did I never notice you for your great wisdom before? Of has it just been a while? My memory's not my highest attribute, unfortunately. Between this and Sita Sings the Blues, I proclaim you the Mairkurion Poster of the Day.

jreyst,

Since I am the one that originally linked to the d20pfsrd and caused this flare up, let me say that all I did was search "anthropomorphic" on the site. If it is feasible to prevent pages in the collaborator/work area from showing up on your search results, that'd likely be the best way to keep it "less visible".

varthanna: Its no fault of yours. You didn't do anything wrong. No one did really. It just exposed (more-so) one weakness of our current method of adding material to the site. However, as per my Google contact assures me this is only a few weeks away from being resolved long term. We will be adding "page-level permissions" to the work area so that stuff we are staging/working on, won't be publicly viewable until we move it to "live" areas of the site. We can certainly do any number of short-term fixes as have been mentioned above, but the reality is that the effort involved in getting alternative work areas on alternative sites set up will likely take almost as long as until the real long term fix is ready. For now we plan to leave it as it is, hope for people to not link to the content, and then fix it in a few weeks.

By the way, pages in the work area are routinely deleted and/or moved so linking to stuff in there is an "at your own risk" kind of deal. The links will likely break early and often.

I think it's funny.

At the Game Room, in Washington Illinois (pimp), the store-use computer pulls up that site as the homepage. Everyone there uses that site, often because $%^&*(((*& (distributor who shall remain nameless) drops the ball on orders.

So if you need the 8th level stats for bloatmage, wham! There you are.

I saw that some of these critters in the 3.5 section were still needing an update. If you like, what format should people send this stuff in. The Peoria IL area is engineer-rich and a lot of these guys like to tweak things like golems, dragons, using the Bestiary rules. I'd pass on the information and make sure to imply the vanilla changes.

I have a very sad announcement to make: I have just returned from the back Dr., and he has determined that surgery is necessary. This will put my crushing of OKCS off until late summer, possibly even fall. Owen, I hope you use this time well.

You know, Jason Bulmahn was supposed to wrestle me at NeonCon last year. Didn't happen. I got promised local sumo-wrestling by a freelancer who never even showed. And now, you dare to challenge me over a messagebaord/

Late summer? That's Gen Con. I'll be there. Bring it. :)

(And if you win? Well, we do give out All-Genius Passes now and then...)

Though you could speed up conversions of Paizo's 3.5 products (;

I've done everything in CotCT and RotRL. Well, not fully converted I'm no beastmaster, but I have bought herolab which helps with conversion for rebuilding NPCs with current paizo rules. We have to go through stages and the stage we're going through is finishing off kingmaker stuff.

I've gotten loads of help from the guys so I've been learning more and published a question on how to convert haunts to current rules (as old rules you had to use a turn attempt and it was effective HD, not hp) so I've managed to help the site with the old pre-pathfinder APs. I'll start on Second Darkness soon enough :)

Also thanks ot this site I've looked at stuff from the Tome of Horrors and heard of the new one coming out, which I will be buying tomorrow.

Legendary Games, Necromancer Games

I love d20pfsrd. Great site. Totally updated with all the new and usable open content. They do a great job. I am a huge fan and I use it in all my writing and developing for my upcoming Legendary Games products.

As an early detractor of d20pfsrd.com, I'm forced to admit that they've certainly cleaned up their practices (and, apparently, their public interactions). I'm also glad folks like Ogre are still watching out for wrong doing, and doubly glad that he was mistaken in his accusations.

Though I generally work from other sources, sometimes d20pfsrd.com is the only source, so I'm glad I can use them now without guilt.

<<Sucks in deep breath>> NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now that that is out of the way, I'd like eveyone to know we are working on converting the 3.5 Adventure Paths. As Aron mentioned, we are deep into Rise of the Rune Lords, Crimson Throne, and Legacy of Fire. Second Darkness has been been our odd man out thusfar.

For those of you waiting on a particular volume or creature to be converted, please have patience with us. We try to take time with our conversion to verify they are correctly done, properly linked, and appropriate for the AP's published CR. This can take a quite a bit of time, especially on some of the more complicated builds in the latter half of the Adventure Paths. Even with Aron converting them like a madman. :-)

If anyone has anything specific they need, don't hesitate to drop us a line. I'll try move it to the front of the editing pile.

BTW - Aron, the only things I'm trying to get posted quickly from Kingmaker are the creatures in the Bestiaries. They have the most use for people not running the AP. Other creatures from Kingmaker can wait until we clear some of the 3.5 Adventure Paths. I'm figuring we can have them cleared in a week if I can get the @#$@# linkifer to run.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words, and always be a fan.

Well... I've tried googling the references to it on the site and cant find it, and its not obviously available from the main page... its not jumping out at me, thats for sure. Can't be that big an issue.

I agree with everything said here, I was also one of d20pfsrd.com early detractors due to bad public interactions, and have in the past discouraged the posting of our content on their site. Based on that public interaction. Seeing this shows a improvement and takes away a lot of my misgivings.

I hate to disappoint you, but JReyst does not have the kind of chest that makes me swoon. The hair would be the first thing wrong, the lack of fun pillows the second. Otherwise, I approve or your Disneyesque antics. Please take your show on the road and have it play for many weeks in a locale where James Jacobs cannot help but hear it.

I actually had not realized they were doing these things. I thought they're just copying what was already in the PRD. So...I think I'll wander in there some time soon.

d20PFSRD has been a great boon to the development process for Clockwork Gnome Publishing. Outside of that, it has become my "go to" place when I need to look up material for my home game.

This. I use it as a resource to see if someone has already done something to avoid duplicating other publisher's material.

Case in point, Synthesist Summoner vs Juggernaut allowing us to rapidly switch gears to avoid having a base class that does the same thing.

I'm a big supporter of d20pfsrd.

We have all sorts of 3rd Party Publishers sending in content, the list above is a good start, with converting old material from publisher's no longer in existence such as Necromancer Games (Now Frog God) and Bastion Press being converted to PF there's an amazing amount of content being uploaded by regular people every day.

Drop by and if you like to contribute please do, we always need more warm bodies for the machine...:D

As much as I'd probably like to help. My time is at a minimal outside of work, and of course the site is blocked by my work's internet. So...other than a browsing from time to time, I doubt I'll be able to help. :(

I've really enjoyed using d20pfsrd, especially for the information that hasn't hit the official PRD yet. I game online, and even though I buy all the books (I've got a few subscriptions), my desk is only so big, and searching through a PDF kills session time. Having the ability to immediately grab stats for a nightwave or show the chase rules to a player is a big service, and one I appreciate a lot.

Incidentally, I've had Dicefreaks take down a link to the work area in respect of the two week deadline.

Legendary Games, Necromancer Games

I prefer, when possible, to support the official Paizo Pathfinder SRD. But the people at d20pfsrd do a great job getting all the open content from the mags (all the APs) into their site, which is really helpful.

Wow, I too thot the site was more or less the normal PRD, but on a different, fan made site. I think it's amazing that it's apparently so much more.

I use my cell at work a lot to post in various games n discussions, so having a site like this sounds epic.

Just curious, has the info on Tieflings from Pathfinder #26(think thas the number) on the site yet? or will it be soonish?

Mage, did you ever try to see if you could get this to work in Chrome? Last I checked, there were some unsupported function calls that kept it from working for us Chrome folks.

I use d20pfsrd.com all the time. Hasn't stopped me from subscribing to multiple Paizo product lines...

I'm a huge fan of the d20pfsrd, though I wish the equipment lists were put together better, I am not a 'fan' of all the 'fan' content either :p
