Quick side question demiurge. When you said:

" I did give a 4-star to one of the Mythic Menagerie line and docked the 4th star from another product due to art theft, not because of the actual writing."

Are you actually accusing Super Genius Games of art theft or did i read that wrong?

Think he is referring to this. You can see the review and stuff there.

review

not saying what he did or did not say. Only saying I think that is what he is referring too.

Edit: Ninj'd

You're right, it isn't. I have asked Sean to just drop it, even though I think there were some interesting points brought up. It's not worth the debate, though.

Not saying points was not brought up etc. Only once the points where established further back and forth doesn't really help is all.

One can never have enough monsters to throw at players. Minor issues with stat block maths don't bother me, they get buffed up anyway as my players are too clever for their own good. Focusing on every dotted i and every crossed t doesn't interest me when I read reviews. I want to know if the content is good, evocative, interesting, and in the case of monsters, challenging.

Then I think you'll find Tome of Monsters useful. :D

Review is posted, and I'm afraid it's not a terribly positive one. Like I said in the review, I was really looking forward to this book and I think it has a lot of potential.

"I'm giving Tome of Monster 2 stars, but if it were properly edited, both stat blocks and prose, it could easily be a 4-star product."

I'm in no way associated with any 3PP and I definitely mean no offense here, Demiurge 1138. I have to disagree with your style of reviewing.

Dropping a review 2 stars over these issues doesn't seem objective.

And the product listing title has been corrected to Tome of Monsters for us by Paizo...

Well said - I tend to agree.

As for the "file name", I assure you that the file I uploaded to Paizo (and elsewhere) is "4WF006TomeOfMonsterS.pdf" (emphasis mine). As I check the download, the download file name and type has been changed, I assume by Paizo, to "tomeOfMonsterPFRPGPDF.zip". Please do not blame us for that. I'm sure Paizo had a good reason for changing the name of the download.

As for the product listing - I distinctly remember typing "Tome of Monsters", but I suppose I could have made an error and left off the "S" by mistake. I suppose Paizo could have changed it for some reason as well. Either way, that is a simple mistake that should in no way reflect on what is actually inside the book - one way or the other.

It looks like when we added "(PFRPG)" to the title, we mistakenly removed the "s" from "Monsters." Sorry about that!

When we zip up watermarked files for customer download, we name the zip file using the product's title, so now that we've added the "s" back, the zip file will have the "s" as well.

weird the thread is showing 3 new posts but their isn't any new posts.

OK, that was weird. Somehow we ended up with two threads for this product. I've merged them.

I think it may have been a glitch in the forums, I was seeing it twice, with a different number of posts in each.

I've been delayed for a variety of reasons. It'll be Monday before I get around to it now.

In the process of creating art for the Tome of Monsters, several of the artists created full color pieces, either by special request or because of their own inspiration. I've created a special gallery on our Flickr photostream for these alternate pieces. It includes a full-color naughty, full-frontal nude Greater Succubus by Kristen Collins and an alternate (but still grayscale) of the Grindylow with a bare breast showing on the creatures illusion. Needless to say, those two pieces are probably NSFW. All the rest is SFW.

EDIT - I set the content rating of the 2 pieces with nudity to Restricted, so you might need an account to view them.

Thanks for uploading those!

Unfortunately, you seem to be right about needing an account. *kicks a puppy*

Again - NSFW for nudity! You have been warned!

Look for the print version soon. Our partner, Studio 2 Publishing, will be sending them to the printer soon, then shipping the orders out as soon as they have them in hand.

Cheesecake, CHEESECAKE! (Cartman voice)

You can thank Kristen for that one. I said to her, "Let's do something a little naughty as a special bit for the greater succubus." That was what she produced. She's amazing.

When the Print Edition is out, I assume there'll be a print/pdf combo available like with other products I've seen of 4W's? I'm personally interested in the PDF, but I buy printed books, so the gamers in my troupe can read the stuff as well.

Glad to see that back on track.

Right because we certainly wouldn't want someone else giving a biased review over a file name...

Well, obviously the filename is the determining factor in a product's overall quality...

Thanks for the review DM! As a question, what monsters stood out the most for you?

I sent the folks at Paizo an email asking them to go ahead and set that up, as the print books should (finally) be arriving within a few weeks, at the most.

Clockwork familiars though they technically was introduce in another book first.

Fallen Cherub, Abassy(they reminded me a bit of blood brothers from Vamp), Jack-O-Lantern(though i think it needed rules for making more of the pumpkins for it), most of the fey, winged monkeys, and the Uncegila cause of the real world myth.

The Hihi, Rizos, and the ypotryll all were great to me, as well as your version of the thunderbird and the wendigo..wonderful stuff

That's really good to hear. I worked up the Abassy, Hihi, Rizos, and Wendigo, among others. :)

Liberty's Edge

It was an honor to have been able to contribute art for this project, even if I came in toward the end and was only able to do three pieces.

Dark Archive

Which three did you do? just curious.

I'm on my iPhone typing this and don't have any of my files handy so my spelling will probably be off but ...

I did the Ophan (the angel being with the smoky wheels for feet); the Mareshi (the water spirit creature with 6 fingers and no nose; and the two animals (elk and dire bison if I remember correctly)

Glad to hear that! I'm especially fond of Sean's version of the Wendigo he did for us.

We were glad to have you on the project, Marc! You did a great job on the Ophan Angel, Mannegishi, and Herd Animals (Elk & Dire Bison).

... and I didn't do too bad with the spelling of the monster names LOL

Update on print version - Studio 2 expects to have them in their warehouse in about 2 weeks, and they will then ship out to distributors (and then to retailers) immediately afterwards. We apologize for the delay!

We're going to have a few print copies of these at MisCon 25 this weekend. Buy one from me and receive a free Hershey's Kiss - mention this post!

It has been sent to the printer. It will then be sent to Studio 2, and from Studio 2 to the distributors, and then finally to Paizo (and other retailers).

Any news about the print editions for this and Inkantations?

Stark Enterprises VP wrote:

I've talked about that in the Inkantations discussion thread. Long story short, it's at the printer (though by now it could be with the distributors - I'll see what I can find out from Studio 2).
