Werewolf illustrations in Broken Moon

I say the best one is on the bottom of page 51. What are others' impressions?

I'll comment when my copy gets shipped, in an estimated three more days. *waits patiently and tries not to be jealous of the people who already have their pdfs...*

Of the werewolves? I agree. But for all werecreatures I would say 75 the tiger in mid change in my favorite.

Yeap. That would be why I put "Werewolf" in front of "illustrations."

Spoiler:
;-p

After that, I'd say after that, the one on 70. Of the werewolf illustrations. The wererat and the weretiger are also good.

I particularly like the one on the bottom of pg 44.

Having gotten this a little sooner than anticipated...

I think the one on p70 sums up the whole perceived up front image of a werewolf best for me. The terror that's come out of the night.

But the one on 51, with the plot related aspects of it, does a good job of summing up the reasons for paranoia about werewolves...

I also like the style of the two on pages 41 and 42.

Hrm, anyone else here getting a bit more of an anime vibe than a gothic vibe?

Maybe I'm being picky, but these seem more "awesome" than "scary." Hrm, or perhaps just too used to how they are protrayed in the White Wolf game...

Yeah i thought the werewolves where a lot more action and a lot less horror vibe in the art.

They remind me of the Wolfen from the Confrontation miniatures game (by Rakham). If you need minis for your game, they'll be just like the pics.

Yeah, I was getting something of an anime vibe from my page-through. And maybe it's just my paranoia (for perfectly valid reasons involving a bad DM), but some of it might be a little...anthro.

Just one guy, though. Just being paranoid.

Agreed. The art on the werewolves was a bit different than the normal art that is in the AP, so they stick out. I was hoping for a more gothic feel, but these are ok.

p34 is my favorite werewolf art in the book.

I'm still sorta bitter about Confrontation. I had just started to buy some of the Wolfen minis, then next thing I know they're next to impossible to find... Pity, they were some really great minis...

I was a touch disappointed with the werewolf art because of its cartoon-like appearance. I much prefer the more life-like renderings they worked up for SS and for the normal human NPC's in CC, or for the lycanthropes in the Ecology section, for that matter.

I'm actually something of a fan of the wererat picture on p.72, though the weretiger is awesome, too!

No I agree - the pics I like are on pg 4, 34, 44, 70, and 72

Dislike pg 23, pg 41-42 (way too furry/WoW), pg 51 (art is great, just don't like-anthropes with weapons) and page 56

I don't like the the idea of lycanthropes maintaining enough control to cast spells, use weapons, etc. They just look like adventurers in wolf suits.

I like lycanthropes dipicted during their hybrid moments, just don't make them look overly human. Bi-ped werewolves should be more "The Howling" and less MMO furry toon.

I have my own solution to the problem of dumping the human aspects, but it's going to take some effort to redesign many of the npcs into "true" lycanthropes (i.e. rip your face off) sans equipment and spells while keeping the treasure levels fair to the pcs.
