Pathfinder at my FLGS

Liberty's Edge

A short retrospective on how looking for Pathfinder at my FLGS has evolved. (Comic Book World in Louisville)

August 2009, the Core Rulebook was available and on display along a wall with "Other RPGs" like exalted or the Serenity RPG. This area has alphabetic filing by publisher.

A year later, around the release of the APG its granted its own section on the store floor. The display shelf was labeled Pathfinder, close to the wall and behind several back and front displays for 4th ed D&D. This shelf would would always have the hard covers in stock and a couple recent modules or AP volumes.

Last month, the store owner told me that Pathfinder outsold D&D 2 to 1 despite them carrying every hardcover for 4th ed spread amongst several displays.

Today I walk in, the Pathfinder section has been moved to the front of the gaming section and clearly visible from anywhere in the store.

Cool. Where do you live? And is it urban, suburban or rural?

Nice! Go Comic Book World! They should come and get on our retailer locator and let the world know about them!

Absolutely awesome! Thanks for sharing!

The store is in Louisville, KY in a suburban area. I pass that store every weekday on my way to and from work. It is where I bought my hardcover of the core rule book. For some reason I have only been back one time since. I will have to make a point of going in again, check out what they have on hand, and buy something I have been thinking about but haven't yet purchased.

The group I play with is older and small and has been together for many years. We don't look for new players but it is nice to know that Pathfinder has enough support here to warrant the up front display.

The other stores I frequent in the Louisville area 'Role of the Die' and 'Something to Do' keep Pathfinder on hand and displayed. Role of the Die is in an urban area and has limited store front but usually displays the hardcovers. Something to Do however in the Oxmoor Mall keeps all hardcovers and last I checked had the APs going back to Second Darkness.

Something To Do has moved into its own building. 215 South Hurstborne. It doesn't have a sign up yet so it's easy to miss.

It amazes me how well Pathfinder sells but every gamestore in Louisville hosts DnD games. Seriously, last week I checked every gamestore that Im aware of and not one Pathfinder group. We Pathfinders have to get together.
