The Necromancer's Athame (Pathfinder APG) is a no-slot wondrous item that resembles a dagger, or possibly a flute.
Do you have to be 'wearing' this item, say on a belt-thong, to gain its benefits, or must you wield it like a dagger or wand?
Since it only works if you make it your bonded item, I believe you would need to wield it to put it to use (just like you need to wield your bonded weapon).
Edit: Linkified your quote.

Just one of those things as a 'slotless' item I wanted cleared up. An athame in practical use is only ever used to draw a line, or possibly scoop incense during a ritual, and otherwise lies around quietly waiting for it's turn among the candles and salt. I was taught to dull mine during preparation, but that's a modern neo-pagan tool, not a fantasy necromancer gewgaw.
Can it be enchanted and used like a dagger?

Yeah, I get that. Slotless items can get weird.
As for your other question, I don't believe so. Usually with wondrous items that double as weapons, they specifically state "this functions like a +1 blahblah", and while the necromancer's athame says it's "shaped like a dagger", it doesn't actually say it IS as dagger.
That said, I don't think it'd be too unbalancing to let someone do so. I might markup the price by 50% (as per adding different magical effects to an item), but that's just my take on it. I'd also probably be fine with a wizard enchanting his bonded dagger into one of these.
