Inquisitor's divine focus

Rules Questions

Does an inquisitor need a divine focus? If he does, what is it?

Since he casts divine spells and nothing in the class description says otherwise: Yes, an inquisitor needs a divine focus.
As for what kind of focus, I'd just go with the Holy Symbol of his deity.

That's what I thought. Still, it's specified in the oracle's class description that he doesn't need any divine focus, so I expected some kind of information on the inquisitor's divine focus too.

looking at Lend Judgement spell level 1 requires a Divine Focus so they definitely need one. Just not sure what it would be.

Divine Focus wrote:

A divine focus component is an item of spiritual significance. The divine focus for a cleric of a paladin is a holy symbol appropriate to the character's faith. The divine focus for a druid or a ranger is a sprig of holly, or some other sacred plant.

If the component line includes F/DM or M/DF, the arcane version of the spell has a focus component or a material component (the abbreviation before the slash) and the divine version has a divine focus component (the abbreviantion after the slash).

So what I take from that is "an item of spiritual significance". My advice would be to have a look at your deity, find out what they are all about, and come up with something personal to your character.

Well if they have a deity, they would just use their Deity's Sacred Symbol.

The default divine focus is usually a holy symbol of some sort. Druids and Rangers use a piece of sacred plant like a sprig of holly or mistletoe.

Oracles do not require divine focus because of the nature of the class. Unlike other divine casters oracles are not required to follow any deity or idea. In many cases they are simply given power without choice. They may not even know who gave them power. You could even have an oracle who worships a deity that is opposed to the one granting him power.

But could an Inquisitor cast Brand on themselves with their holy symbol, at least for simple symbols like Lamashtu?

I really have this idea in my head of a crazy Lamashtu inquisitor branding themselves on their forehead or something and scaring the crap out of others.

*edit - just realized Brand requires a DF, so it would just be for effect... but you could have it up for days in theory... if it were to work.

True... the Birthmark trait works as well.
