I'm re posting this from an industry mailing list I belong to because I think it's important ...
Jim Roslof, one of the early artists and art directors for TSR, is dying from cancer and does not have many days left. His wife, Laura said cards are welcome and seem to cheer him up. If you're interested, please send kind thoughts to

Jim Roslof was one of my faves back in the day.
Pretty sad.

That sucks. I'll get a card in the mail for him.

That was before my time, but I looked him up just now, and found this:
Not bad. Not bad at all. Not my favourite style (probably a generation gap thing), but good stuff nonetheless. Especially compared to some of the stuff I've seen about the old days of D&D art. That man really knew how to paint.
Due to that ocean between the USA and here, a card of my own isn't really an option, but maybe my words will reach him nonetheless.
So if you can read this, Jim:
You were there right at the action, long before many of us even learned about this awesome thing that is called roleplaying. Some of us weren't even born yet (I wasn't).
You were among the first who brought the heroes and villains of this game alive before the players' eyes, and who knows how many other artists you inspired. I thank you for the contribution you made to this awesome hobby, which really is more than a hobby for most of us. Our short vacation trips from reality wouldn't look as good as they do without you.

That picture of Thor from Deities & Demigods was awesome. I loved it as a kid!

Marc, thanks for posting this; I'd not have know otherwise. :(
"A! Elbereth Gilthoniel!

Gilthoniel, A! Elbereth!
We still remember, we who dwell,
In this far land beneath the trees,
The starlight on the western sea."
I'll send a card to Laura Roslof, expressing my condolences.
