The Legend of Drizzt D&D Boardgame

The Legend of Drizzt D&D Boardgame will be out this year. Coupled with the FR hardcover coming out, it looks like Wizards is giving some support to the Forgotten Realms again (beyond novels or online). Basing a boardgame on one fictional character seems like a stretch to me, but maybe the game will be highly themed to the FR and have broad appeal? The other D&D boardgames seem popular.

There is an interesting design and development article on the D&D website that explains how the second boardgame (Wrath of Ashardalon) got named, and revealed that most of their original choices (Dragon Mountain, Firestorm Peak, etc) were already claimed trademarks. I'm guessing similar issues were at work here - I doubt the game will focus on Drizzt, but his name in the title makes it unique, and will get the attention of FR fans.

I am guessing the board game itself will be an underdark dungeon crawl, since that is new territory compared to the first two games, and fits the theme of Drizzt relatively well.

They are also coming out with a Neverwinter soucebook to be released with the new Neverwinter computer game...so FR is getting some love.

I guess the FR name still sells.

Ravenloft owns, so I'm hoping this will own super hard too.

The Exchange

Suddenly this smells like 'Kill Drizzt'.

If we get to kill Drizzt I'll definitely buy it.

I thought that was the whole point for the Hero Battle: Drizzt from Dungeon?
