Question for Sean K Reynolds

Lost Omens Products

Sean,

I have a left field question for you. Where/how did you get the name for the Cantorian Spring from the Gods and Magic book?

The reason I ask is this. In my home campaign my friend and I, a few years back, came up with the name Cantori for our orcs. I only discovered the Cantorian Spring for the first time a few weeks back. I thought it a neat coincidence that the Cantorian Spring might have ties to humanoid origins.

When I showed it to my buddy we got to talking, and for the life of us we couldn't remember where we got the name Cantori in the first place. We thought perhaps that you might have gotten inspiration from the same source as we did...and since we can't remember we were hoping you would.

We had a similar situation recently concerning the Beastiary 2 concerning the inclusion of the concept of the Monad. We ourselves had recently been including inspiration in the campaign based on the Philosophy of Leibniz. It's always nice to see that other gamers - especially those who design the game - often draw from the same creative well of inspiration.

Does that make sense? Anyway, thanks in advance for a response.

oh, my dear... i have the same issue wit this game.
im wrote a lot of rules new, then i can watch them in every single boock i saw in the net (except for the psionics, cause i dislike it), but its truth... i was thinnking about how to do somethinf, my friends and i do not stop to blame the flies, or hidden cameras in the ceilling corners, but its truth, every single rules... then, maybe a 6 month or less, a friend and i was talking about that, we were crafting a new sistem, where armor class do not requieres an armor, only dex and str modifiers and others modifiers, a new rule for monsters, every monster got a lvl up, xp list and advancement rules, unique for every type of monsters (cause i think: the monsters still the same wimpys since 1st ed, and players are crying always for a gobling to farm), parry and dodge one with str other with dex, there was a third defense option: Cover (circumstantials, shields etc), a lot of races skills, zero class levels, and more....

then, a friend come to my home with 1 book he found in a garage sale, conan d20 rpg, and there is a huge system talking about dodge and parry, and even cover rules, exactly the same things we´re develop...how could a book 10 years before, doing exactly the same, more specific... since i never know about a system of conan (obvious my rules was a higher and crack all the d20 system to fit on it, the zero class level rules still in use in my stories)

So, a big and unique coincidence? yes, cause we´re maybe diferent persons, thinking in a diferent way, but the intention is the same.
perhaps were thinking those unique names undr the same concept, ideas, each one goes for the game, based on a system, and every master has one thing in common... tale a story

theres a unspoken open mind licence who broughts our ideas in feedback...
if you want some, give me a call...

Didn't you guys know? There is sleep box in all the paizo packages. When you open them you do to sleep and Paizo comes in and implants chips in your heads. Then they can check what your thinking of even influence you. Only thing that stops this is tin foil hats in the shape of a swan. Then and only then are you safe. I suggest you start making your hats now before they suck your brains dry. :D

Katerek -

Honestly, I wrote Gods and Magic almost three years ago, and I can't recall any specific inspiration for that name. Not even a Google search on cantor, cantorian, and canzoriant give me any appropriate clues.

As for a program to make your own character sheet, I just use Excel.

As for a mapping program, um, I don't know what ones are popular these days, I draw them by hand and hand them to a pro. I think if you read the Top 8 submissions for RPG Superstar this year, the competitors talk about what software they use and you could find something you like from those suggestions.

It depends on whether or not your shaved head looks cool or scary....

Thanks for the reply anyway Sean. Like I said, it was just one of those weird little coincidences.

That's quite a claim coming from a race whose name translates to "to LIE under"...

judas,

Fun story somewhat related.

Spoiler:
I was going to write myself some Eberron fan fiction. I decided on a Cyran soldier who lived on the edge of the Mournland.

Then I started readin the Lost Mark. Oh.

So I read a bit more, and think "Well plan B was a psychic rogue changling..."

Oh.

I emailed the author, and, making pains to point out I wasn't accusing him of sneaking into my subconscious and ransacking my brain, we had a fun conversation of how parallel development works.

LOL
thats huge one dude
then, we´re thinkong for the same people, playing the same gam with the same rules....
and be a dungeon freak that make us the same kind of people

then, obviously we going to converge in one or more ideas
right?

I have some questions Sean.

Are you worried that if you participate in a Q&A thread, a jealous and territorial T-Rex loving individual will hatch some nefarious scheme to avenge the theft of his "mojo"?

Are you as protective of secrecy of your middle name as Mr F(Fandango). Wesley Schneider? Is it Kahlua? Kingston? or Killbot?

Is it possible to turn this Q&A thread into a serious Q&A about the Campaign Setting?

As such who is your favourite god?

What is your favourite country?

And what AP did you enjoy the most?

No.
No.
Perhaps.
All of my children are beautiful in their own unique way. :)
Don't have one. :)
Council of Thieves, but that's probably because Wes and James asked me to help them develop the outline for the whole AP.
