Since I didn't want to derail the other thread, I noticed in Hyrum's message that faction PA / factions will matter more in the future. As he mentioned how replay skewed the data, is there a specific way in which we should be reporting replay?

I've currently been adding the character to the list as per normal, reporting that the person played, however I simply give 0 PA. Is this the correct method? Should they not be listed at all?

For Hyrum/Mark an example of replay is this event, session 1, character 6399-5. Hoping that this is done correctly or if there's another way that it should be reported.

If someone replayed for zero credit, I would just not add him/her to the Report of the game.

As I understand it, you would list someone replaying the same way you would if they were playing a pre-gen.

I've been thinking about this whole "Factions matter" concept.

Originally we were all told that "Factions Matter", and that there would be an accounting.

Then we were told that there would be no accounting, and that if one wanted to replay a scenario, one had to do so with a character in a different faction.

And now we're again being told that "Factions Matter".

Personally, I have multiple PFS characters who are only in their faction because of the replay rules as quoted in the PSGOP.

I would like to place those characters into the factions that I would have originally wanted them in, given that the replay rule has now changed to "Replay for no credit, but in any faction you want".

Is there a mechanism (or will there be) whereby I can re-faction my PFS characters? Or should I simply retire them if I do not want them contributing to whatever faction war might now be announced now that once again, "Factions Matter"?

And at the same time, is it too much to ask that rules be stable? There was a certain other RPG that I gave up on because every new product or campaign manager decided he wanted to redo the rules to match his vision of what the game should be. As a result, the rules ended up with hundreds of pages of errata, and it was impossible to actually play a character without the rules shifting out from under it. I'd really hate Paizo and PFS to wander down that path.

Yes, I'm being cantankerous today. Shifting ground tends to annoy me.

There is a history of not really allowing "re-builds" so I would expect that this will not be an option. The labor required to back-date all the records would likely be more hassle than it's worth.

It's not unexpected that when a new manager is in place, there will be some changes that he feels are in our best interest. Keep in mind also that PFS is still very young for an OP. Changes should be expected. IMO, we are very close to solid guidelines. By the start of season three, I wouldn't expect any more major changes.

[unless the leadership was to change again. Nevermind, nothing to see here. move along ;-)]

I actually have no clue how one would report a pre-gen differently.* Society number, faction and 0 PA? Or is there something different that you're doing for pregens.

*I'm assuming you mean higher level pregens, cause otherwise a pregen is simply a first level character where the player needs to choose a faction, gains PA, can die, etc. like any other character.

If a new player uses a pregen, but gets a PFS# during the session, I will report them. Presumably the player will create their own character at that point and use that credit as session #1.

If they just play for the sake of playing, or if an existing player uses a pregen, I do not include them in the reporting.

If a player uses their own character during a replay, I don't report it, but I do give them a chronicle to track resources/conditions. I zero the XP, boons, GP, & PA, and write REPLAY somewhere visible on the sheet.

It has always been my understanding that when a player uses a pregen, you do not report them at all unless they played a level one that they are going to make into a character of their own. In other words, if you run a game where everyone plays a pregen and none are being kept, then you would report an empty table, since no one is getting credit. Or you would report the table with just your character, if you are running that scenario for the first time. Anyway, that is how I remember Josh posting about how to report tables with pregens.

Necroing this thread since it is the only thread on the subject I found. I ran a scenario today that my wife had already played through, so she does not get credit for it. However, when I went to report the session I realized without her I would only have three players reporting. I decided to report her with 0 PP so that her participation in the session could be counted for player totals up higher. Is this the right answer?

Reporting just 3 players is fine.

You do not report those replaying for no credit.

You can delete her from the report.

Done. Thanks for the quick answer.
