Happy Birthday, cap!

I see two enterprising FaWtLies broke out . . . grey streamers??! . . . in celebration . . . .

EDIT: *Ooooh*, yeah!

Birthday suits mandatory for birthdays, right?

Anyone who can't find a new and ridiculous way to die (or at least be maimed) in Wisconsin isn't trying very hard.

Case in point: the principal at the high school in my hometown fell out of his deer blind just after dropping his gun. When the gun hit the ground, it shot off his arm at the shoulder.

Be glad it's not deer season yet and

Happy Birthday!

As I was walking in the door, Werewolf Flanders fell off my key chain and as I reached down to pick him up the flower in my other hand was crushed by the closing door.

But it still has all of it's petals (even if they are slightly crushed).

If you were from Wisconsin you'd be prepared for that, as Amish buggies are the ninja of America's heartland.

I've been to Cracker Barrel, once.

It was alright.

I don't really care for the decor though, so I can't say I'd want to go back, especially since it's on the east side.

Hi, all! Thanks for the birthday wishes. Yes, I still exist, just haven't been on the forums in quite a while. Also, Happy Birthday, Captain Y! 'Tis a good day. Except that I still can't download my new Starfinder PDF on my iPad even though I have GoodReader. Not sure what's up with that. Anyway, warm greetings to those of you I remember fondly and cheerful greetings to those of you I haven't met yet. Have fun with the riddles and aliases and shades of grey. Peace! :)

I am back from my trip and done with the mini-hibernation that was necessary to begin to recover. I will try to get some photos uploaded soon, but not sure when. It's kind of a busy week. Lots of prepping for back to school. Also still lots of recovering from the trip. Hopefully I didn't do any permanent damage to my joints. We'll see as things start to heal more. But I wasn't going to miss out on doing the things I wanted to do no matter how much it hurt! And now I pay the price....

Yes, I don't usually get hurt in my birthday, it's usually more psychological or painful in a general sense.

I once got blackout drunk on Goldschlagger and woke up with Ace Of Base and Lynch Mob CDs.

My girlfriend ditched me at a party while she banged my best friend.

I was walking home past a Farm & Fleet that had it's alarm tripped and spent the next half hour getting searched and interrogated by the police, thus delaying me enough that I had to walk two out the four miles home in a thunderstorm. My brother even slowed down as he passed to laugh at me (and he wonders why I don't like to hang out).

I could go on...

So far tonight I've had over a dozen calls from people looking for rooms (we're sold out). Two of those people, upon hearing that I'm sold out didn't believe me. One said "So, nothing left at all? Not even one little room?" and the other was more aggressive. He said said "Don't gimme that s$+*! I need a room!"

I hate people.

I still have one room I'm trying to get rid of amazingly enough. Apparently someone messed up and double booked a group and after it got cleared up we have rooms when we had been sold out for weeks for today.

Irritated me none the less I was prepared to give the old we are sold out sorry which i enjoy telling people probably to much. and literally sold it while I was typing this out. nice.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I'm not sure which I hate more: the people who want to argue about whether or not I have any rooms left, or the people who want to argue the price. I think the ones who don't believe me when I say we're sold out are more annoying, but they're also less common. The ones who want to argue price are usually not too bad, just frequent. Some of them, of course, are real a%&!*$%s. Like this one guy I dealt with about 7 or 8 years ago who spent almost 5 minutes telling me that I had to "do him some justice" on the rate. What does that even mean? I sure as hell don't know, but I do know he didn't get any "justice". Or a room.

Man, I hate double bookings. They always seem to happen on the worst days, and, at my hotel, 90% of the time it's the fault of one person: our group sales lady. All she does is group sales for us and our sister property next door, but someone she keeps f#*!ing it up. I especially love it when she promises people things she knows we can't deliver on. For instance, we have a group from ESPN blocked for this November. She has guaranteed them 45 rooms with two queen beds in each room. We only have 30 rooms of that type in the hotel. It is literally impossible for us to honor their reservation, but she booked it anyways. Probably because it's a lot of money and she can use it to look good to her boss, while leaving it to us to deal with the s*%~.

Oh yeah me and her would have to throw down.

I just make up something when someone wants to argue on the rate. I say sorry The computer won't let me drop it below X or something like that. Then I tell them its actually a lot cheaper then normal normally were like 50% more.

I'm an excellent haggler however. I love the O I guess well have to go somewhere else ME: Smile and Ok have a great night. then they come back in 2 minutes later. muhahaha

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I don't have to much trouble with people arguing about whether I have a room but I've had third party bookings that come in at the last minute and we are already sold out. That sucks for literally everyone.

I hate haggling. I refuse to do it. I just tell them the rate, and they can take it or leave it. If they ask about AAA or AARP or whatever, sure I'll bring up that rate, but just saying "That's kind of high" isn't going to change anything. I just say "I don't control the rates."

I also hate it when they say "Can't you do any better?" like I've done something wrong. Look, pal, you came here to get a room. If you don't like the rate, go somewhere else. I'm not going to try and convince you to rent the room. I don't have to do "better", because I'm doing what I'm supposed to. I sell the rooms at the rate the manager sets. Yes, sometimes I have permission to go lower. The manager might say "I know the rate is set at $X, but you can sell it for as low as $Y", in which case if someone comes looking for a room, I'm just going to quote them the rate of $Y.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Eh if you don't like It then yeah just go with the set rate. I don't mind it plus if we sell out I get a little bonus so I make it into a game for me.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

We don't have any kind of bonuses for occupancy here, so there's really no incentive for us to sell out.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Yeah then I would be less inclined to do anything to encourage people to stay.

You know usually if he is cursing someone they have it coming so I kind of appreciate that.

I just had a lady come in ask if we had rooms and then ask me why not? We are seriously on the path of the eclipse tomorrow. just about every hotel in at least 100 miles is sold out and she asks me "why not?" sigh. that and you know it is 2 AM maybe think ahead next time.
