Anything interesting happen in the last 24 hours?

What color do you think The Wall will be?

The past two days must be how it feels like when Wayne Reynolds Iconics all die and fail to stop the BBG.

Copying to FaWtL since I know not everyone reads about my kids' misadventures:

Well, yesterday I got to actually read a book (Miss Peregrine, and of course the book is far superior to the movie. What is it about Hollywood that they just HAVE to change the plot?).

Then a good dose of Nyquil and 10 hours of sleep.

I have a Nyquil hangover and a classic sinus sore throat, but I'm feeling MUCH better, thank you!

I had a friend that always tried to get me to Robo(itussen) trip.

But this was the same guy that tried to get me to smoke catnip and the crystals from the bottom of an Aftershock bottle.

So I never did.

Bah. Money, shmoney. But I set my alarms a half-hour ahead of when I need to wake -- workplace effective plus delinquent satisfaction!!! Best of both. :D

Both are the songs of my youth, though Show Must Go On has an advantage of being Queen, and for all practical reasons and estimations my favorite song.

I haven't thought of that one. Though it does fit. When it comes to Disturbed I prefer their Sound Of Silence cover.

...

Do The Evolution hopefully will not get applicable...

One of my favorite rock covers - the song is sad ('cause, stupid dude), but I much prefer this to the original.

My favorite cover of Sound of Silence is by Caleb Hyles.

I unashamedly love the Bangles' version of Hazy Shade of Winter.

But then, I'm an 80's lad. I loves me some Bangles. Except "Walk Like an Egyptian". One of their worst, so of course the most popular...

I agree with Nobodyshome, but i also love this one.

Watch with coffee, it's pretty mellow.

And i promise it isn't Micheal Bolton.

I first learned Jimi Hendrix had died when i was nine or ten, my mom as a school project (home schooled) had us write a letter to someone. my brothers chose the president or Johnny Carson or Phil Donahue. i chose Jimi, so i get my letter all ready and go up to my dad and ask if he could help find his address.

While i was crying in my room my brothers ate my cake.

And that was my worst birthday ever.

I couldnt agree more. Everyone does Dylan better than Dylan does Dylan. Of course I like the Ministry version of Lay Lady Lay too.

I am of the belief that there has never been a cover of a song better than the original. Different interpretations, perhaps, of equal value, such as Chris Cornell's cover of Billie Jean, but...most fall unequivocally short, such as Alien Ant Farm's cover of Smooth Criminal.

Hmm...both my examples were MJ songs. But...it pretty much works that way for just about anyone.

So, 2007 TMNT sure doesn't make a lot of sense...

For me, the three covers that surpass the originals are:

All Along the Watchtower, Hendrix
Imagine, A Perfect Circle
Hurt, Johnny Cash

Of course, that list could expand; I doubt it will ever shrink.

I don't know if it surpasses the original, but i love this one.

Oh my word, yes! I find that cover so vastly superior to the original, for so many different reasons. It's not that it's a different genre, or style, but rather the weight and importance of it simply makes it a better song. At least to me.

I sing the Cash version of Won't Back Down to my kids on long walks sometimes.

The most impressive part though is he literally made every song better just by singing it.

okay, last video i promise!

This is another one we inevitably sing on long walks, especially the chorus.

Television watchers will recognize the singer from Portlandia, and Archer as doctor Squidofska from the drastic voyage episodes.

OK, Woo Hoo!

Apparently Children's Hospital of Oakland ("our" hospital) got the most pledges for the Extra Life game-a-thon, raking in nearly $400,000 in just a couple of days, plus a $30,000 bonus for being the most-contributed-to hospital.

Feels good to give to a place that's saved BOTH your kids' lives and see it do well for itself!

Woo hoo for Children's!

(And I was just there for 2 hours getting Impus Major checked, so I just like to know I'm helping keep my own costs down. :-P )

Johnny Cash's cover of 'Hurt' and the original NIN version speak to different ages, different aspects and both equally carry their weight a long time.

Edge to Cash version, though, because much like the Imagine Dragons work I've heard, it's a bit cleaner on the language, so it's a bit easier to hear.

I know of very few songs covered by Johnny Cash that weren't improved by the experience.

Rmhmp.

Spent 'all day' shopping for a sports jacket for my brother-in-law's wedding that apparently doesn't exist - literally every daggum size except mine can be found among the stores I visited today.

Head is now pounding. I hate shopping. Spending seven hours in fruitless search is... unpleasant.

Other covers I like just as much as the original or better
FFDP covers of both Bad Company and House of the Rising Sun
Korn cover of The Wall
PM5K cover of Good Times Roll (I like it about as much as the original)
Rob Zombie cover of Boogie Man

I am sure I can find more but my brain is kind of fried at the moment
