We have a big sale on barbecue goods at work. For some reason, a cast iron skillet is considered a barbecue good. I'm not going to argue with that when I've been wanting one and get my employee discount on top of sales.

So, now I have a 10" cast iron skillet. I'm unsure as to what to cook with it.

Hm. This may help explain why, after full sunscreen, careful application and waiting appropriate times; making sure it was absorbed so it didn't wash off, but not so long it's protection faded; and only two hours; everyone ended up with at least mild or greater sunburns. Hmp.

Yes, agreed, but I think they peaked with Comatose. That album was awesome. Awake and the subsequent stuff seem like they're just trying to ride that wave and extend the sound, and it's coming off a little bit sad.

I like Awake a lot (the song, if not the album; I haven't bought a full album of non-score music in years, so I dunno); but take my opinion with a grain of salt, as I like old-school Creed, enjoy several Nickleback songs, and have not particular appreciation of Alice in Chains or similar "better" bands - heck, I like Smashmouth, even the lead singer, even though I admit he's kind of garbage at singing (I think he leveraged his drawback into an asset to create the band's style). Yes, I'm aware.

I can't even recall what a Creed song might sound like, except i remember it being a kind of bastardized Micheal Bolton-esque metal sound.

Sadly, it seems i was right

Of course, we all know how i feel about Micheal Bolton.

It's a pretty solid show, but it gets zanier and less coherent as it goes along. I liked the characterizations in the pilot, but the show had some pacing issues, and there were some moments of "dead" air or annoying sound effects. Marco's characterization suffered heavily from pilot to main series, while Star's was (mildly) improved.

I think you would like it - to me, it straddles a line between Gravity Falls, Spongebob, and something like Power Rangers or other monster-of-the-week show. Unfortunately, it straddles the line a little too far into the middle category.

I think there is a lot of potential for the show, and the song is amazing, and the concept is excellent. Unfortunately, the characterizations are... annoying. They are anarchic and make relatively poor choices, though they are good guys, which is nice.

Oh, and the Outro is delightful as well.

Nobody should recognize the imagery. The general concept is much older but the recent exposure to that imagery certainly helped to focus it.

I've been saying for years continual exposure to triple degree temps is not good for mental health.

Of course the same could be said for extreme cold and lack of enough sun.

By Ao (god of the game, not the FR one), guild politics is starting to look like something out of Game of Thrones...

Arbitrary Silliness:

1. I joined a small guild called the Horizon Exploratory Guild, led by a super-nice BioWare fan. We were small in number and had no infrastructure, so we approached a powerful alliance, the White Lotus (yes, based off of the ones from Avatar).

2. They said they wouldn't take us on until we got thirty members, as opposed to our current four. A guild within the WLA approached us, and said that they would take us on in their own little sub-alliance, the Order of the Blue Rose.

3. Things were rosy for all of ten minutes before the leader began stripping away our guild identity, binding us with restrictions, and overall being a jackass.

4. While we were keeping up a facade of compliance, I formed two plans: number one being taken in by an official kingdom, number two contracting one of the most vicious assassin guilds in the game to burn down all of the Order's holdings and kill their leaders (permadeath is a thing) so we could make our escape without drawing their wrath.

5. We finally got into a kingdom that seemed friendly enough. Since attacking a massive kingdom was not a good idea, we were able to cut ties with the Order of the Blue Rose and join the kingdom. The King of Arthos, Cidolfus, gave us a brief greeting before turning to matters that were more important than a nothing guild trying to scratch out a living.

6. For a quiet, productive day, we formed many alliances with various counts and dukes within Arthos. They promised us the land and resources to build guildhalls. All was well.

7. We were then in talks with Maeriss, the king's Ambassador/Spymaster, about how we could strengthen the guild and expand its reach, when we mentioned open business practices, such as the perfectly reasonable idea of dealing with people outside of Arthos.

8. Maeriss flipped his s!++, and locked us down within Arthos. We couldn't step outside the borders without his explicit permission. Around this point he got upgraded to Duke.

9. We desperately tried to keep Maeriss at bay while he made us comply to ridiculous demands, such as putting our home base in his lands while we already promised the base to someone else, our original sponsor within Arthos. We were losing members and allies left and right.

10. Maeriss confided in me that the king said that he had carte blanche to conquer the continent for Arthos, and implied as subtly as a hammer to the face that we would help him or else.

11. When we were stretched thin as paper, we got hit with a whammy when one of our few remaining members grumbled about Maeriss' policies, and our leader joined the grumbling, and then Maeriss told us we had ten minutes to either GTFO for stay forever.

12. I managed to bargain him up to a day to make our decision, when in reality we were using that day to frantically reach out to other kingdoms, who were essentially saying, until you have enough people to conduct your full operations, sorry, can't help you.

13. Then, the actual King of Arthos caught wind of this silliness, apologized profusely, and informed us that when Maeriss ascended to Duke, he lost his authority as both Ambassador and Spymaster. Furthermore, the sociopathic-sounding spymaster that was telling us "Comply with Maeriss OR ELSE" was Maeriss using his old, defunct alias. Apparently, Maeriss had absolutely no authority to do what he was doing, including his delusions about conquering the continent. He then confronted Maeriss, and we still have no idea about what happened behind closed doors, as they are friends IRL.

14. Then, tonight, at the great kingdom meeting where we were supposed to bring Maeriss' crimes to light, the King had an IRL emergency. Now, I don't want to think Maeriss is such a sociopath that he would cause said emergency to delay his trial, but King Cid is the only one who has any actual authority that can corroborate my guild's claims against Maeriss.

15. That brings us to now, and the kingdom meeting is going live in four minutes. This is all before the game has actually launched.

Yeah, mice suck at wiring. They are, however, pretty good at exhausts. For wiring I would recommend chipmunks. Whatever you do, DON'T let a badger anywhere near your brake lines. Badgers suck at brakes.

Also, otters are great at lube jobs. Everyone loves getting a lube job from an otter.

I used my cast iron grill pan tonight. The cast iron fryjng pan will be used another night. I did season it, but the grooves make seasoning harder, and I may not have given it enough time. Sticks a bit. What I did do was fill the apartment with smoke. Not surprising. No windows in the kitchen, and I was burning oil into smoke purposefully, then cooking meat. And the exhaust hood over the stove has bouth a "blow" and a "suck" function, which aren't clearly labelled. I had it on blow, so it was pushing smoke into the apartment, not removing it. Pretty sure I gave myself cancer.

Also, it's been a long time since I cooked with gas. Forgot that you can ignite two burners at once, and that taking the dial to the temperature you want before pulling it past 10 to light it means it lights a bigger flame than if you go straight past 10.

So, naturally, I set two burners good and hot and light the front, it goes up and hits the iron pan and flares out, ignites the gas coming off the back burner, and there's hella fire spraying from under the pan for a second. It was wicked cool, but I'm not doing it again.

I just realized why I think Frozen is wonky. Two things stand out.

First, their childhood seems to be them sitting in their respective rooms forever. This is obviously idiotic.

Second, Elsa goes all GIRL POWAH (or at least ME POWAH) when she builds the ice castle. Let it go. Then as soon as anyone comes to visit, she goes all weepy and awful again. And doesn't really do anything to improve on this.
