I thought 'Exalter' or 'Hymnist' for the performance/religious; maybe 'Psychomancer' for performance/arcane (assuming that means what I think it means, and also that it hasn't been used already); maybe 'Woodwisdom' or 'Wyrdspeaker' for the arcane/natural...

EDIT: And it's perfectly natural. Nothing to be ashamed of!

Re-posting for new page and maximum exposure (don't worry - Limey's got that kind covered! You're all safe!)

Updated for Drejk, Limey, and Freehold's excellent suggestions! :D

FaWtL: C'mon, guys! I need help!

Okay, I'm looking for snappy fantasy names.

None of you helped me out with this one (I'm too lazy and out of time to link the one here in FaWtL; but I'd really appreciate it if you guys could come up with words for that, too!), so let's see about something else.

I'm looking for a new name for a Prestige in my game that blends empath (or performance-based) abilities with arcane abilities; one that blends empath (or performance-based) with psionics; and one that blends empath (or performance-based) abilities with divine/religious abilities. Also natural stuff with that other stuff.

We have:
arcane, contemplative/enlightened, empath, natural, psionics, religious

Arcane/Contemplative: maester*
Arcane/Empath: esper
-> Arcane/Performance: lyric thaumaturge*
Arcane/Natural: ???
Arcane/Psionics: cerebromancer
Arcane/Religious: mystic theurge; acolyte of the skin, alienist, arcane devotee

Contemplative/Empath: enlightened spirit
-> Enlightened/Performance: sublime chord
Contemplative/Natural: geomancer?
Contemplative/Psionics: meditant*
Contemplative/Religious: oracle?

Empath/Natural: beastmaster?
-> Perform/Religious: fochlucan lyrist*
Empath/Psionics: mentalist; mesmerist, nightmare spinner
-> Perform/Psionics: mindsinger, minddancer?
Empath/Religious: evangelist, exalter
-> Perform/Religious: chanter, choralist, hymnist?

Natural/Psionics: ???
Natural/Religious: druid? stormlord?

Psionics/Religious: psychic theurge

* You know, I should really get onto making this thing...

** I also really need to add:
- blighter (corrupted naturalist)
- inquisitor (religious skilled)
- crusader (religious warrior)
- liberator (religious)
- hospitaler (religious)
- templar (religious warrior)
- exorcist (sacred/religious)
- sacred fist (sacred/warrior)
- shining blade (sacred/warrior)
- temple raider (trickster/religious)
- void disciple (specific religious)
- ur-priest (anti-religious)
- war priest (warrior/religious)
- zealot (wilder/religious)
- animal lord (empath/natural/leadership)
- bloodhound (skilled)
- daggerspell mage (warrior/trickster/arcanist)
- daggerspell shaper (warrior/trickster/naturalist)
- dread pirate (empath warrior)
- ghost-faced killer (emapth/trickster)
- highland stalker (skilled rage)
- spymaster (skilled trickster)
- vigilante (skilled trickster?)
- virtuoso (social performer)
- argent savant (force-effect specialist)
- effigy master (crafting specialist)
- elemental savant (elemental specialist)
- enlightened fist (enlightened/warrior)
- geometer (prepared arcanist)
- fatespinner (arcane- or religious- or psionic- character)
- wayfarer guide (conjuration specialty arcanist)
- wild mage (wilder/arcanist)
- unseen seer (skilled/trickster/various)
- abjurant champion
... among others...

EDIT: Adding Freehold's idea...

Brad Pitt?

Arcane/empath- esper?

That... that is a really good one! Thanks, Freehold! :D

I am pretty sure that esper should be one of psionic ones...

I'd otherwise have agreed, except, due to Final Fantasy III (or FF6), "Esper" in indelibly linked to magic (effectively wild and arcane) and emotions for me.

That... works pretty well, I think! :D

Tammy's emotional.

Or at least she was.

There is a surprising lack of evil gods with Warhammer as a favored weapon.

Well, it is kind of hard to smack someone over the head with a tabletop miniatures war game. Although, getting them hooked on it and forcing them to spend all their money would certainly fulfill your daily required dose of Evil.

Eh, I wouldn't take Final Fantasy to be an exactly accurate source for naming conventions... Dragoons, for example...

Sure. But it works for me, especially; plus, though I might not be able to use it exactly as a title, it ties into a thing I was working on, which solves a lot of potential issues and questions. Effectively, its a great suggestion (whether it's the final or not) for <reasons>. :D

To be sure, "E.S.P.ers" wouldn't work. Just having Extra Sensory Perception isn't really a thing to base a prestige around. But "Esper" as a word, not an acronym, sounds whimsical, magical, and beautiful. At least to me...

I knew a girl named Esper, also another named Gypsy. When your parents run in hippy/Quaker circles you meet some people with crazy names. :-)

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I wouldn't have thought of those as quaker names...

1 person marked this as a favorite.

After the sixties the Quakers pretty much absorbed the hippies, so everything is on the table, name wise.

Parents can be real mean when naming kids.

Not me, both my kids have super cool names, that are timeless but not often used. :-)

Pea Bear has a name with a long and short version, Tiny T-Rex has one with an easy to use French variation. :-)

I have a name that means that, occasionally, the underinformed (who haven't read their {Abrahamic religion's holy book}) think I'm a girl, or at least mispronounce my name to make it sound like the female version. Generally this changes when they see/speak to me.

My favourite instance of this is when a delivery driver rang me up, had obviously seen my name on the sheet, and opened his call with 'Hiya, love'

He may have just been feeling playful, but I don't think so - the slightly worried tone of voice and emphasis on calling me 'Sir' afterwards suggest otherwise...

This is, of course, always amazing.

Serious question:

Bender Bending Rodriguez : epitome of chaotic neutral, or chaotic evil?

I say he is the poster child for CN, but a friend argues he's evil.

Same question for Charlie from Always Sunny. Every other character is clearly evil, but Charlie just seems so chaotic he only does the evil to fit in with the gang.

...except for that one episode where he dated the girl to make the waitress jealous. The end of that was pure unadulterated evil.

Bender is clearly Chaotic Neutral.

Everyone from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is evil.

Charlie would actually make a great Anti-Paladin.

Ah, heck.

It's a fact.

Muppets
Are
Always
Totally
Awesome
:D

Charlie would be Barbarian (drunken brute)
Mac a cleric of Asmodeus
Dee a witch
Dennis a Rogue
Frank is either a wizard, bard, alchemist or Rogue.

Goodbye winter beard, don't hurry back now, ya hear!

So, Tacticslion doesn't like It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

Interesting....

Has anyone seen the episode where Mac and Dennis move to the suburbs.

Probably my favorite episode, other than when they get held hostage, or when Mac bangs Dennis's mom.

Never seen it and am unlikely to do so.

Here's a clip, Mac and Dennis helping Charlie with his dating profile

This is the teaser for when they move to the suburbs

Mac debunking evolution.

I dunno. I think bender would be an interesting approach to chaotic evil.

My favorite episode is "Who Pooped the Bed?"

"A turd merger! Fused together by hatred! And hair!!!"

They're stacking the crowd with Pea Bear's old elementary school. It's a good thing we got here early.

Did they really kiss, or was it a hug. This is now the only thing the flood of elementary school students care about.

What happens when Cthulhu scratches his jock strap itch?

Answer

Swarm of crabs.

Also, cap, Dee is too stupid to be a witch. She's like 8 int, tops. Dennis can seduce anything in like four minutes flat (hit a girl with the car she's giving him a BJ in the movies an hour later in one episode), and loves to sing and is incredibly flamboyant - Bard. I agree with your assessments of Charlie and Mac. Frank is definitely a wizard. He's by far the smartest and always comes out ahead.

Pea Bear killed it!!

She's smart, besides in the episode where they break the Liberty Bell, they claim Dee's a witch.

She also gets a Cat.

When did buying chocolate chips become so f$&&ing complicated. >:-(

Speaking of names: words you never thought you'd have to come up with...

- concubare (a male concubine/part of a harem)

(That's my current "best stab" at it. Anyone else have anything different?)

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I agree on Dennis as a Bard. Great point! I still think Dee is a witch, they don't give her enough credit. Maybe a sorcerer, or Rogue I suppose. :-)

Sorry Tacticslion! I want to help but Thegreenjacketgamer has discovered my weakness. :-)

Oh, and, yes, "harem" is generally only supposed to be all-female, too, but it technically only means "forbidden place" so, unless someone comes up with a niftier term, it's the one I've got, at present.

I like Concubare actually, good one!

I would also give Charlie a level in Investigator.
