you sure do!

Duh. I just copied the link without looking, usually Google shows me English result first. I have no idea why today it went with Polish...

I am not sure if kopytka can be qualified as dumplings as they contain no filling, though the word that is used for dumplings in Polish (pierogi) is also used for leniwe pierogi (lazy dumplings) that contain no filling either. Kopytka are never qualified as pierogi, though, but as kluski (er, noodles would be probably the best equivalent).

Off to pub for the birthday party.

When I come home or tomorrow I'll eat the rest of the sauce/chicken with a serving of rice bean noodles.

Dumplings in the US typically don't have filling.

Grrr, healing process of my tongue is super frustrating!

By that I mean it's not healing as fast as I would like.

All yogurt and cottage cheese and no good food makes Captain Yesterday go something, something.

Yeah they look like gnocchi. Which I love.

To be exact it's more like chicken marinated in 5 spice powder.

Dumplings here, pot stickers or otherwise all contain fillings.

I wonder how mash potato with 5 spice powder would go, again mashed potato + bacon bits or rosemary is good.

I am returning home in different pants than I went...

Spoiler:
My friends have a tradition of giving me practical presents so I asked for cargo pants

Lol. Nice to have practical friends. We usually wash our pants before we wear them - God knows how many people tried while they were still on the rack before we bought them.

I have longjohns anyway because of cold weather.

We're going to go see Thor Ragnarok at the budget cinema tonight.

Should be fun!

Though I thought that more friends will show...

Apparently I am no longer as attractive as I was. *sigh*

Then that works. Here we never wear longjohns as it's too hot. Happy birthday Drejk!

Please don't burn down a settlement to celebrate!

As much as I tend to be a solitary introvert most of the time I miss ye olden parties in pubs and a few home parties...

Happy Birthday O mighty dragon!

Leaves a couple of newbie Paladins on his doorstep so he can freshly roast them, adds a Rogue for flavor.

As we grow older, we have more responsibilities(kids, family) and have less time to spend with friends. Sad fact of life.

It's like you only see friends at weddings or funerals.

None of my early friendships survived the passage of time.

Except for my wife of course.

Actually, most of my friends don't have kids. The primary exception are the friends who brought me pants today.

Come to Botanic gardens! We have orchids and swans!

Orchid gardens section of Botanic gardens requires 5 SGD admission fare but is well worth it.

I am shocked Orthos or Amby didn't have this alias.

And ashamed it took me until two weeks ago for me to claim it.

I didn't have it because I despise him. He was the least-entertaining part of the show for me.

Nope, Tide Ad.

I read somewhere while looking to see if they'd have a third season that he was going to play Hellboy in an upcoming reboot.

Did the internet trick me again!

Fair enough.

I can do his voice pretty good, plus him and Kiff crack me up!

I can also do a really good Soos.

Life without the hat is actually pretty good. I don't have to worry about things in the morning like, my players are waiting for me to finish the nights backlog, so they can post their new round of actions or I need to check every hour or at least two to make sure I can respond to their posts.

*purrs*

Not to mention not having players yelling at me demanding the slightest in-game advantage, and complaining to high heavens when they don't get it.

And I actually get to spend peaceful time with my family or playing path of exile in peace instead of putting out the latest crisis.

You see, how it worked is I do demand a certain activity level of my players, and before you demand things of others, you'd have to set a good example yourself. So I'd feel obligated to check the boards every hour or two just to check for responses. And if my family caught me fiddling with phone on social occasions it'd be bad faction. Yet if I didn't check, I'd feel bad for being unable to respond in a timely fashion.

Many of a time I also chose not to path of exile because I felt I should keep checking for player posts and its not conducive to be running a map and checking every 15 min or so.

What is this backlog you speak of?

The Exchange

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Basically as my players were Americans, I might stay up till midnight to get a couple of posts, but they would do actions or ask for clarifications on times I would not be online since I am asleep.

So if a certain clarification which would impact the players turn was given late, it may be past the players bedtime, and so the player would take no action, which would slow the turn down for everyone.

Like say a player asks if I move NE, E, E, will the rock give me cover from AOO by movement? If no, then move up and attack.

So without GM confirmation on whether the movement will provoke or not, the player does not want to take his turn, as if he provokes, he may decide to cast glitterdust on the creatures, wait to see if they are blinded or not, instead of move up and attack.

About pacing:

I ask players to aim for 2 combat rounds/day.

As a player personally I feel that if I don't play a character for too long, I forget how he/she feels like/forget plot points/forget what we were supposed to be doing.

Let's say the GM only checks once per day.
Player A asks GM for clarification
GM posts 20h later after player has fallen asleep.
Player A wakes up 6h later and asks a clarification as they did not understand what GM meant.

Already 26 h have passed and nothing has happened.

GM responds to players another 16 h later, there's another 5 h delay while player A wakes up and takes his turn.

That's like 47 h to resolve a single players turn. And there are like probably 3 others sitting on the table doing nothing for 47 h.

Humans are creatures of habit. If they see that nothing is happening, they will check less and less, resulting in even longer waiting times and eventually the game dies altogether.

At least that's the way I view it.

And every player has the right to ask GM for clarifications since the way the GM views the scene and the players do may be different.

I think a little antagonism was due btw captain. ;)

That pretty beautifully sums up what makes GMing unfun in so many situations.

"I can't possibly play by the rules like everyone else does! They're too restrictive! If I had to play like everyone else, then I wouldn't be special!"

OK. I'll stop.

I don't really give a sh*t about special snowflake stuff. You were "hired" to do the AP so get your sorry bum moving.

If I have to tweak the AP to cater for your novella long backstory, I ain't doing it(most of the time, unless I'm very familiar with the mod/AP in question and it amuses me). The level of details required - I wouldn't do it to my satisfaction so I don't do it. Besides if you tweak something someplace, you may break something somewhere else, or compromise another player so you really should be careful on what you tweak or it may cause story discontinuity some books later...

I don't get backlogs. I'm lucky if players post once a day. :(

Will I never be rid of these a#+%$&&s? Every time some of them (finally and drunkenly) head off to bed, more show up from seemingly nowhere! It's times like these that make me really hate this job.
