Someone mentioned the original boxed set for Marvel Super Heroes game,
I inherited BOTH the first edition box sets (from one of those guys who buys EVERYTHING when he plays/does something) And have looked at it several times, but that's one of the games my group never took the chance to play. :/
I'm realizing two things,...
1) Many people share a liking for many of the same games I have played over the years,... (Yay!)
2) And I have forgotten just how MANY different games there are out there that I HAVEN'T tried, (whether I've heard of them or not) ;)

One of my college buddies 'Luved' Traveller, (the original edition I think?) And tried to get me to play it. I was willing, but after 4 hours creating a character, we never actually got to play. :P
Oh yes, I still have the ORIGINAL box set for Star Trek the RPG, (Back when there was only the original series) Character creation was similar to Traveller, and was fun to play, but the system was not field tested enough in my opinion.
Also the original box edition of the Dr Who RPG, we made it through a couple of modules of that too. (So technically past my threshold of more than 1- 2 hr game session) ;P
Are we still talking ONLY RPG's? Cuz my Traveller friend also luved his Star Fleet Battles. And we did a few sessions of that too,
I don't know anything about Lone Wolf. :/

Wait, I thought 40K was wargaming. Thats not quite the same.
There are multiple Warhammer 40k roleplaying games: Dark Heresy (where you play acolytes to an inquisitor searching for heretics, cultists, mutants, and xenos), Rogue Trader (despite sharing the name with the 1st edition of Warhammer 40k it is roleplaying game about being an interstellar merchant/corsair/explorer), Only War (roleplaying as a members of Imperial Guard unit), <name I forgot> (roleplaying as members of Space Marine unit), Black Crusade (roleplaying as chaos cultists). The game mechanics evolve through the games, with the newest iteration being 2nd edition of Dark Heresy.

Battletech, Car Wars, and Starfleet battles are board games not RPGs.
Battletech was rather fun. I think more so because I was encouraged to make fun new designs and then try them in battle.
Car Wars was idiotic. When a more skilled driver was able to take a 90 degree corner on a narrow city street in a limo at 120 mph and not even skid into anything it lost a LOT of it's charm.
Starfleet battles was complicated. My only time playing it I lost... but not before the entire table except me (because I had no idea what I was doing) got into a heated hour long argument over facings or firing arcs or some such. All because the guy who was showing me how to play made a questionable call to give me a better chance in combat.

Battletech had a companion RPG Mechwarrior. I haven't played the RPG (despite it being one of the rpgs that were published in Poland in late 90s) but I did play a Battletech. I'd love to play it more.
In fact on one of the local gaming conventions some eight or ten years ago I played a friendly game against assistant worker of US Embassy here in Poland who was deeply interested in Battletech (and even organized some promotional events for it here in Poland). I won, barely and mostly due to a lucky hit, but I won.

I love the Battletech novels. To the best of my knowledge, there is only one of them I don't have (Sword and Dagger) from before FASA went under. I'm not sure why, but when Wizkids bought the franchise and turned it into Mechwarrior: Dark Age, I just lost interest. The game wasn't much fun either (I don't like the while click base thing), whereas the dozen or so times I played Battletech were good.
I am the exact opposite.
With the exception of one man (who is one of my best friends and was one of my groomsmen), the people I met who were into mechwarrior were nothing but oafs- when they werent quiet nazi fetishists with respect to the clans. While I enjoyed the occasional novel, I really got into the dark ages novels (with a handful of exceptions) and loved the click base game. It drove the mechwarrior fans around me insane. There were truly childish displays of anti dark ages hate aimed not so much at me but at the company, and finding a game became hard. But it is still my favorite storyline, and I read the novels on occasion. I actually want one of the quotes from a novel in the series' foreword as a tattoo.

Ah, Mekton my boyfriend's old favorite RPG. So many stories to tell there... But back then I was a Rifts girl. I still remember my three questions you need to ask every Rifts GM before playing: first was What power catagory should the characters be? Next was How are you handling MDC? And lastly How did you fix the rapid fire rules?

The good: Kidlet is finally over his cold and was able to go to school today.
The bad: I am not over my cold and still have to do All the Things anyways. Being a grownup is not all it's cracked up to be.
At least dinner will be easy. We are continuing our St Patrick's Day tradition of having green eggs and ham for dinner. Well, I'm cheating a little bit and making bacon instead, but same idea of normal food dyed violent shades of green with food coloring because reasons. :)

NobodysWife has made several memorable characters over the years (Raesh comes to mind), but one of my all-time favorites was the toon rabbit she created for Champions based on Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, and who had a variable power pool with the limitation, "Must be funny at the time".
It was... awesome...

I played Cortex + (Drama) in last quarters Thursday game, alas the players were great - but the GM was terribad. And he tried to enforce a rivalry upon the players (the system was using the Smallville mechanics), which ended badly.

But I don't mind comments on my variant D&D-like sub-system based on the Firefly version of Cortex+! Hint! Hint! :D

I checked on sonic.net's site this morning, and it claims that I can go from my current 5 Mbps connection to a 50 Mbps connection for only $20 more per month. I ordered it. Let's see how badly it fails...
But... But... Wasn't America supposed to be a land of plenty and wonder... My dreams are shattered!

I checked on sonic.net's site this morning, and it claims that I can go from my current 5 Mbps connection to a 50 Mbps connection for only $20 more per month. I ordered it. Let's see how badly it fails...But... But... Wasn't America supposed to be a land of plenty and wonder... My dreams are shattered!

Yeah, you pretty much have the U.S. nailed. In spite of being a "Free Market Economy", cities enter into "exclusivity contracts" with Comcast and AT&T -- If you want cable internet, you MUST go through Comcast. If you want DSL, you MUST go through AT&T. In spite of those two companies eternally striving to take the coveted crown of, "Dead last in customer service worldwide."
So the fact that I can even *get* "reasonable" (10 Mbps+) internet without having to do direct business with them makes me somewhat ecstatic.
(Sonic is still renting its lines from AT&T, so I'm having an AT&T technician come by to install the drop, and some of my payment is going to AT&T because Sonic is renting the lines from them, but at least it's not doing "direct" business with them...)

Total side note: More NobodysHome irritation: I ordered a gift for a friend directly from the manufacturer, and 3 days later have received NO information. No shipping info, no, "Your order has been processed." Nothing.
On the other hand, with the Celica's battery dead *again* (we really need to drive the old girl more often), I ordered a battery tender from Amazon for her. Three hours later, I got a, "Your order has been shipped" notification.
So... WHY would I deal with the manufacturer direct any more when Amazon is so much faster at getting my orders processed?

Yup. Of the two AT&T is the one I personally would rather do business with, but I completely understand why someone would choose the opposite.
