I'm glad you're home, I'm sorry you're feeling not-so-hot.

Mental, physical, emotional, or something else?

Either way we're here for you and you're prayed for!

In only vaguely-related-to-anything news, Eldest's distant learning program/website did not succeed this morning - just couldn't get the actual website to function for us.

We used the right url, the right info, and it wasn't the internet (for once) or the site itself (which worked for others), and my computer functioned for everything but that site, but we got it fixed! ...by hitting "refresh."

(A tactic which hadn't worked for the first two hours, so, of course, it began working almost immediately after I informed his teacher - with picture - that we couldn't get in by email. Eliminate all known possible error sources, write email, check once more, send the email, start him on random "burn some time doing next math" assignment, hit refresh by habit not expecting anything, and bam it works. Of course. But at least it works! His teachers have since been informed. Wheee~!)

Yes! Great show!

It's one I've wanted to see, but we just haven't had the time.

That said, with all of these strong recommendations, it's likely something we're going to check out soon!

Email from elementary school teacher "we're inviting all classmates to a zoom meeting on Monday. Please make sure everyone in the house is wearing clothes, this has been a problem before".
This? This is real.
This is Wisconsin, home is like Vegas, so yes, expecting people to go a whole day at home wearing clothes is a bit of a stretch so apparently a family member walked through a zoom meeting with the teacher without clothes.

Oh, I get it.

I have a young child and have worked with others.
I'm presuming, at least, that it's not an adult or older child, but, hey, I'll, uh, grant that people sometimes don't communicate well before-hand, and, perhaps, not everyone realized they're on video somehow - it's why we have strictly enforced, "Yes, it's a phone call, it doesn't matter put clothes on (which you should always have anyway)." policy.

Fortuitously (given that some of our things are recorded for YouTube) we have entirely avoided any incidents thus-far.
I mean, the worst thing that happened was that one girl was caught playing her Switch by my son - who was caught texting with a person.

*prepares for some sort of cosmic irony incoming...*

I understand that working from home is requiring big adjustments from people. Learning to type your password correctly should not be one of those adjustments.

I had to talk to a guy on Friday. The same guy twice on Saturday. The same guy again this morning. He keeps locking out his account.

Hey, man, don't dox m- oh, you're talking about someone from your company. Right. Right. I knew that. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

(I actually rarely mistype most of my passwords, but there was one a couple weeks ago that I just... could... not... get correct, no matter what I tried. As it is now "changed," I'll never know exactly what I was doing wrong.)

Yes, it is the General's favorite show on Netflix.

I think she's seen it twice or three times so far.

Does she also want to pet the mega bunny? Because I totally would.
Most likely, though we have a bunny at home for her to cuddle with when people get stupid (she works for the state, so it's a frequent occurrence).

A mega bunny is a 30 ft high bunny so I think she'd pet it.

Speaking of passwords, I think Zoom wins for "worst password implementation EVER".

Thanks to "Zoom bombing", Global Megacorporation added a strong password requirement for Zoom meetings.

When you host a Zoom meeting, Zoom displays that strong password in plain text on the meeting welcome page so every participant can see it.

So when is a strong password not strong? When you show it to everyone you ever hold a meeting with!

And someone had to consciously make the decision that it was a good idea to display the password in the meeting. It's not the kind of thing that just gets displayed by accident.

Which admittedly feels better than a Monday, but will only lead to an eternal Tuesday-Real Friday.

After its shipping was unexpectedly delayed, and then surprise pushed up, and then surprise-again arrived two days ahead of schedule... my rotary motor tool showed up today. None of my other supplies have been shipped yet, so not much I can (constructively) do.

This thing should really come with warning labels, though, because all I want to do now is start sawing things or auguring holes in them or grinding/sanding them off (or all three). Not because any of these things need to be done, but simply because the capability is now in my hands.

(I now have head canon for why so many NPCs never survive long enough to hit 2nd level. "Oooo, just got my own shiny new sword. I'm gonna... go up and poke that unknown critter over there with it. Because I can.")

It's a full deck rebuild. It'll probably take a week or two, and he's well aware of that. He just pretended he wasn't and he acted as if they were done at the end of the day they started, so he was acting horrified that they'd just ripped up our old deck, thrown down some plywood, and left.
